Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery signed off their Bundesliga careers in style, scoring a goal each, as Bayern Munich beat Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 to secure a seventh straight Bundesliga title.
Niko Kovac’s side, who needed a win or draw to clinch the league over Borussia Dortmund, exploded out of the blocks and took an early lead courtesy of Kingsley Coman’s cool finish.
The Bavarians deserved to be at least three goals up at the break but had to settle for one after Serge Gnabry’s fine finish was chalked off for off-side following a lengthy VAR review.
The Europa League semi-finalists offered little in comparison with Real Madrid-bound Luka Jovic below-par. They improved in the second half after bringing on Sebastien Haller who equalised with a tap in after Filip Kostic’s corner sparked panic in the Bayern box.
But the home side regained the lead three minutes later when Kevin Trapp parried Thomas Muller’s shot from 25 yards and David Alaba converted the rebound.
And Renato Sanches, who came on for the injured Leon Goretzka, grabbed the third after being given too much space in the area to fire the ball home.
With the game done and dusted, Ribery and Robben came on for their final Bundesliga game for the club with the Frenchman close to tears.
And the 36-year-old former Marseille winger made it a finale to remember with a fine solo run before dinking the ball over the advancing Trapp.
Robben repeated the feat from close range after a low cross to score the fifth for Bayern who win the title by two points having trailed Dortmund by nine points in November.
Bayern have a chance to win the domestic double when they face RP Leipzig in the final of the DFB Cup next weekend.

TALKING POINT

Will this title win be enough for Niko Kovac to keep his job?
The fans chanted the Croatian’s name in the second half in what has been a tough week with the club forced to deny reports that they will replace him. Two months ago, it looked bleak for Kovac with Dortmund running away with the title and Bayern’s meek Champions League exit to Liverpool. But they have rallied to regain the Bundesliga crown in spectacular fashion.
