Bayern Munich 5-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf A crushing victory for Bayern Munich puts them 10 points clear at the top. They are going to win their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title, and they look a good bet for the Champions League as well.

- Yellow cardMarkus SuttnerFortuna Düsseldorf
Suttner is booked for opening his mouth.
This is over. Obviously.
Perisic's deep corner is pulled down on the chest by Goretzka, who slams a shot that deflects wide off Zanka. The resulting corner leads to a scramble in the six-yard box before Fortuna eventually force the ball away.
- OffSerge GnabryFC Bayern Munich
- OnOliver Batista MeierFC Bayern Munich
Another Bayern change. Oliver Batista Meier comes on for his Bayern debut in place of Serge Gnabry.
- OffThomas MüllerFC Bayern Munich
- OnJoshua ZirkzeeFC Bayern Munich
The intensity of the game has dropped in the left 10 minutes. No great surprise, given the scoreline. Thomas Muller, excellent as ever, is replaced by Joshua Zirkzee.
- OffMarcel SobottkaFortuna Düsseldorf
- OnThomas PledlFortuna Düsseldorf
Sobottka is replaced by Thomas Pledl.
The Fortuna substitute Sobottka is limping off, so Fortuna are temporarily down to 10 men.
Kastenmeier, who has had a fine game despite conceding five, makes a terrific double save from Gnabry and then Lewandowski.
Davies's shot is blocked by the legs of Kastenmeier, though the flag had gone up.
- OffMatthias ZimmermannFortuna Düsseldorf
- OnJean ZimmerFortuna Düsseldorf
More changes for Dusseldorf: Zimmer and Suttner replaces Zimmermann and Thommy.
Fine save by Neuer! Berisha's shot on the turn takes a deflection and goes behind for a corner. It's cleared as far as the left-back Giesselmann, whose bobbling snapshot from 20 yards is pushed round by the diving Neuer. That's a terrific save, not least because he was unsighted.
Thomas Muller screams with frustration after missing an absolute sitter. Alaba found him with a glorious through ball, but Muller slashed the bouncing ball wide of the near post from six yards.
- OffBenjamin PavardFC Bayern Munich
- OnÁlvaro OdriozolaFC Bayern Munich
Two more changes for Bayern: Perisic and Odriozola replace Coman and Pavard.
Chance for Dusseldorf! That should have been a consolation goal. A free-kick on the right was played down the line to Zimmermann, who stood up a lovely cross into the six-yard box. Hoffmann got there first, ahead of Davies, but somehow steered a header over the bar from three yards. That was a dreadful and slightly peculiar miss.
- OffAlfredo MoralesFortuna Düsseldorf
- OnMarcel SobottkaFortuna Düsseldorf
Two changes for Fortuna: Sobottka and Berisha replace Morales and Stoger.
Pavard swishes a fine long-range shot that is palmed behind by the diving Kastenmeier.
Davies's cross is headed over from 12 yards by Lewandowski.
Bayern could get 10 here you know.
- GoalAlphonso DaviesFC Bayern Munich
GOAL! Bayern Munich 5-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf (Davies) This is brutal. Alphonso Davies wins the ball off Stoger on the edge of the area, bulldozes through the defence and slams the ball past Kastenmeier.
The substitute Cuisance spanks a bouncing ball over the bar from the edge of the area. That was a decent opportunity as well.
- GoalRobert LewandowskiFC Bayern Munich
GOAL! Bayern Munich 4-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf (Lewandowski) This lot are uttelry relentless. Gnabry screws a low cross towards Lewandowski, who flicks the ball neatly behind his standing leg and through the legs of Kastenmeier. That's his 4432423423th goal of the season.
All Bayern, as you'd expect. Alaba's cross shot from the left side of the area is pushed away by Kastenmeier, plunging to his left.
- OffLucas HernándezFC Bayern Munich
- OnMickaël CuisanceFC Bayern Munich
Peep peep! Fortuna begin the second half. Bayern have made a half-time change: Mickael Cuisance is on for Lucas Hernandez.
- End of 1st Half
Bayern Munich 3-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf That was pretty awesome from Bayern, who are cruising towards their eighth straight championship. Dusseldorf worked incredibly hard, didn't do that much wrong, and they are still 3-0 down.
Lewandowski has now scored against all 18 teams in the Bundesliga. The awareness and composure shown by Kimmich and Muller was gorgeous.
- GoalRobert LewandowskiFC Bayern Munich
GOAL! Bayern Munich 3-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf (Lewandowski) Robert Lewandowski scores against Fortuna Dusseldorf for the first time. It was a great team goal. Kimmich ran through on goal, dummied to shoot and backheeled the ball to Muller. He also shaped to shoot and then screwed the ball across to Lewandowski, who slid it into the empty net.
After good play by Gnabry, Kimmich's shot from 16 yards is well blocked by the sliding Hoffmann.
Gnabry wallops over from 20 yards after zipping infield from the left.
Karaman rumbles into space down the right and crosses low towards Thommy on the far side of the area. The last man Pavard, running back towards his own goal, changes direction to scythe the ball clear.
Chance for Dusseldorf! Thommy's cross from the left finds Karaman, who has far too much time to pull the ball down and hit a shot that is blocked by Davies in the six-yard box. It was an important block, because Karaman's shot was going in the corner.
Kastenmeier should probably have done better on the goal, though Pavard's header did bounce quite sharply in front of him.
- GoalBenjamin PavardFC Bayern Munich
GOAL! Bayern 2-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf (Pavard) Bayern score from the corner. Kimmich curled it out from the right, and Pavard's downward header bounced through the left hand of the diving Kastenmeier. Simple.
Good save from Kastenmeier! Lewandowski's low cross from the right was crunched towards goal by Muller, and Kastenmeier got down to make a really smart save at the near post.
- Yellow cardKenan KaramanFortuna Düsseldorf
Karaman is booked for a high challenge on Hernandez. It wasn't intentional, but he did kick him in the face as Pavard ducked in to head the ball away.
Goretzka's stinging long-range shot is blocked. For all Bayern's dominance, and it has been overwhelming, Fortuna have generally restricted them to efforts from distance. For now.
I wouldn't fancy drawing Bayern in the Champions League quarter-finals, should the competition resume. They look thoroughly formidable.
In case you're wondering, Zanka and Mathias Jorgensen are the same person. Zanka is the nickname by which he's commonly known.
Fortuna are working really hard but this is a complete mismatch. They've barely crossed the halfway line.
- Own-goalMathias JørgensenFortuna Düsseldorf
GOAL! Bayern 1-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf (Zanka own goal) It was a matter of time before Bayern took the lead. Thomas Muller clipped a fine crossfield ball to Gnabry on the right of the area. He volleyed it back towards Pavard, whose mishit shot was going wide until it hit Zanka and dribbled miserably into the net.
A better long-range shot, this time from Muller, is blocked on the edge of the area. Fortuna have defended well so far.
Pavard's optimistic long-range shot dribbles well wide.
Not much to report, just lots of Bayern pressure and some determined Fortuna defending.
It's all Bayern. Every time Fortuna get the ball they are swamped by red shirts.
Chance for Bayern Kimmich flips a short pass over the defence to Lewandowski, whose slightly heavy touch with his chest allows Kastenmeier to come out and save. Lewandowski had been flagged offside, though replays showed he was on.
It's been a confident start from Bayern, as you'd expect, with lots of crisp passing and sharp movement.
Karaman goes on a good run down the inside-right channel before turning back and finding Morales on the edge of the area. His mishit shot loops gently into the arms of Neuer.
Davies's low cross flashes across the face of goal, just in front of the stretching Lewandowski. It wouldn't have counted anyway as Davies was offside.
- 1st Half
Peep peep! Bayern, in red, kick off from right to left. Fortuna are in black.
The players emerge on a cool Munich evening. It's almost time for more association football!
We might as well enjoy this peculiar statistic while we can: Robert Lewandowski has never scored against Fortuna Dusseldorf.
These are the Bundesliga results so far this weekend, with yet more away wins:
- Freiburg 0-1 Leverkusen (Friday)
- Mainz 0-1 Hoffenheim
- Schalke 0-1 Bremen
- Hertha Berlin 2-0 Augsburg
- Wolfsburg 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
Werder Bremen closed the gap on Fortuna to two points with victory away to poor old Schalke this afternoon.
Bayern are in spectacular form: they've won 13 of their last 14 Bundesliga games, scoring 46 goals in that time. It will be a big surprise if Fortuna get anything today.
Fortuna make five changes from the team that beat hapless Schalke in the week. They are in decent form, unbeaten in six either side of spring break, although they have had a relatively easy run of fixtures. Not any more: in the next four games they will face Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig.
No messing around from Bayern, who have picked a very strong side. There’s only one change from the team that won Der Klassiker on Tuesday: Jerome Boateng is replaced at centre-back by Lucas Hernandez.
Here are the teams...
Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1) Neuer; Pavard, Hernandez, Alaba, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Coman, Muller, Gnabry; Lewandowski... Substitutes: Ulreich, Odriozola, Martinez, Cuisance, Perisic, Boateng, Singh, Meier, Zirkzee ///
