An important return to winning ways for Dortmund. Thanks for following the match with us.

GOAL! Sancho scores his first goal of the season as Dortmund cleared a corner, beat Otavio and then slide past Casteels.

Baku causing danger for Wolfsburg down the right flank. You feel he should have been utilised more during the game. A lovely clip into the box from the by-line there but Bialek had a perfect chance to head home ruined by a stretching contact at the front post from Victor.

Ginczek and Bialek come on for Steffen and Schlager as Wolfsburg chase an equaliser.

Emre Can comes on for Reus.

Not far away from a goal with his first touch for Tigges. Sancho played him in at the near post and the striker turned it past Casteels but it rolled across the goal before Brooks cleared the danger.

Haaland is replaced by Tigges who makes his first team debut.

Yellow card for Haaland after he kicked the ball away after an inadvertent handball.

Lacrousx comes on for Pongracic as Wolfsburg chase an equaliser.

Woghurst again close to getting an effort on target, again Akanji blocking his effort after a centre from Mehmedi.

Brekalo and Gerhardt leave the field, replaced by Mehmedi and Victor.

Sancho's corner again makes life difficult for Wolfsburg. Casteels comes for the corner this time but is beaten to it by goalscorer Akanji who heads wide of the target.

It may flatter them a little but a first home victory after four three straight reverses at Signal Iduna Park would be so so welcome and new coach Edin Terzic.

GOAL! Sancho's outswinging corner is met by Akanji who heads past the outstretched right arm of Casteels and with no man on the back post it bounces into the net.

Lovely inswinging free kick from Reus that Delaney meets at the front post but he heads a yard wide at the near post.

Arnold is felled by a clumsy challenge from Witsel just under 30 yards from goal just right of centre.

Another chance for Woghurst. From another fine delivery from Otavio which the Wolfsburg number nine meets ahead of Buerki but heads over the bar.

A chance for Woghurst after a neat ball from Steffen but Akanji puts pressure on him and he shoots wide at the near post.

Haaland with another decent effort. He latches onto Guerreiro's low ball down the inside left channel and fires an effort aimed at just inside the near top corner but Casteels tips over with his outstretched right hand.

Sancho puts a cross into the box from the right flank but it is easily cleared. Slow start to the second half.

Otavio puts in a low cross inbetween keeper and Dortmind defence but it was just a little beyond the Wolfsburg attackers.

Wolfsburg get us back underway.

Half Time

The half ends with Reus taking a free kick from 25 yards out that Casteels parries away without too much difficulty.

Sancho had to score there! Haaland did superbly moving into the box and creating space to rifle at goal and after Casteels parried the effort it fell to Sancho on the half-volley but he made half contact at best and it trickled wide for a goal kick.

Meunier with a low ball behind the Wolfsburg defence but Pogracic clears just in front of Haaland.

Lovely one-two from Reus and Haaland just inside the penalty area but as Reus looked to find the Norwegian with a square ball but Otavio was there to clear the danger.

Great chance from Weghorst from Otavio's pinpoint cross but he heads straight at Buerki.

Steffen booked for a clumsy challenge on Guerreiro.

Close from Haaland. A long ball from Meunier sees him beat the offside trap. As Brooks comes back to defend, Haaland skilfully turns inside him then his strike heading for inside the post is deflected by the inner leg of Brooks and danger is averted. And it was offside (belatedly as is the fashion) anyway.

Potential penalty on Reus as he falls in the area under the close attention of Brooks but the right decision for the referee to wave away the protests and there's no need for the Stockley Park equivalents to get involved.

Haaland is given a little room twenty yards from goal and shoots low and hard at goal but straight at Casteels.

Sancho goes down caught in the nether regions from Delaney's follow through. He'll be alright in a couple of minutes.

Hummels goes into the book for a foul on Gerhardt.

NO PENALTY! A long break results in no decision. It would have seemed harsh with Witschel facing the wrong way when it struck his elbow but given those awarded before this year, Wolfsburg can count themselves a little unlucky

Arnold takes a free kick from the left flank which Steffen wins but it ricochets off Witcschel's arm and then into the arms of Buerki. They are just checking whether this is a handball or not.

Meunier puts in a cross from the right flank looking for Haaland but Casteels claims well.

Dangerous cross from the right flank from Reyna which Pongracic puts behind for a goal kick.

Sancho hits a diagonal ball to Meunier on the right wing but is a little too firm with it and it goes out for a goal kick.

Finally a decent attack from Dortmund and neat interplay sees Reyna play in Reus but Casteels spreads himself to deny the BVB skipper.

Another effort on goal for Wolfsburg. Baku from the edge of the box but it is comfortably stopped by Buerki.

So close for Wolfsburg. Schlager squares a ball that reaches Brekalo eight yards out and it looked destined for the corner of the net but clipped the inner thigh of Hummels and wide for a corner.

Good chance for Schlager after a pull back from Brekken but he hits the ball weakly wide with his left foot.

Baku and Steffen link up well down the right wing but Steffen pushes a little too far past Guerreiro and it goes out for a goal kick.

Early shot on the half-volley from Schlager at the edge of the box but it flies high over the bar.

Haaland gets the game back underway for Dortmund.

Dortmund way too short for me at around 1/2 with the bookies today. They have won three out of six home games this year so you wouldn't have got rich taking on this kind of price. Wolfsburg though not great on their travels have drawn four from six on the road so the 7/2 for the draw might be the bet. Wolfsburg available at 5/1.

Wolfsburg come into the game with the second-best defensive record with 13 goals conceded (four more than leaders Leipzig), so a real test for Dortmund's attacking stars today.

Wolfsburg have made three changes down the spine to the team that beat Stuttgart 1-0 last time out. American John Anthony Brooks replaces Maxence Lacroix at the heart of their defence, Maximilian Arnold comes in for Josuha Guilavogui and Xaver Schager plays the number ten role in place of Bartosz Bialek. The ousted trio are all on the bench.

Dortmund's only change from their 2-1 defeat to Union Berlin before the Christmas break is Thomas Delaney coming in for Emre Can.

It is getting close to must win for both sides if they are to hold out hope of taking the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg in fifth are seven points off top and Dortmund a position and two points behind.

And this is the Wolfsburg XI who take on the BVB today..

This is how Dortmund will line up this afternoon.
