Shot! Barreiro is afforded a pocket of space in a central area and he unloads with a shot but it's straight forward for Neuer. Mainz manager Bo Svensson will be encouraged by what he has witnessed so far.

Mainz have started on the front foot and a dangerous ball is whipped in right across the face of goal from the left flank - but there's no one there in white to attack it.

With Joshua Kimmich ruled out until the new year and Leon Goretzka unavailable due to a foot injury, Corentin Tolisso and Jamal Musiala form Bayern's central midfield this afternoon. Robert Lewandowski could make more history today if he scores twice as he would then have 42 goals in a calendar year, equalling the late Gerd Muller's total of 1972.
