90+4'

And the full-time whistle is blown as Arsenal run out comfortable 3-1 winners. Shrewsbury put up a brave fight in the first half but a much improved performance in the second 45 minutes has seen Arsenal progress to the Fourth Round.

90'

Four minutes of injury-time will be played, but this game is all but over.

89'

And the impressive Oxlade-Chamberlain is replaced by Chucks Aneke, yet another debutant for Arsenal.

85'

Those changes have taken the sting out of the game and Shrewsbury are forced to shoot from long-range with a free-kick, but Joe Jacobson's attempt doesn't threaten Fabianski.

79'

GOAL! ARSENAL 3-1 SHREWSBURY: And that is the end of the giant-killing dream as Ozaykup gets the ball in the box and cuts the ball back into the path of Benayoun, who had time to take a touch before smashing it past Smith.

77'

More changes as Frimpong is replaced by Oguzhan Ozaykup, and Jon Taylor shakes the hand of the pacy Ainsworth.

72'

With Shrewsbury up against it, Graham Turner has decided to try and change their fortunes with a double substitution. Goalscorer Collins and McAllister are replaced by Tom Bradshaw and Matthew Richards, whilst Ryo Miyaichi also enters the action for his Gunners debut, taking the place of Park.

68'

Oxlade-Chamberlain gets in a shot from a wide angle, and Smith can only parry the ball past the post as Arsenal look to put the tie to bed.

63'

That goal seems to have done the teenager the world of good, as he begins to stamp his authority on the game and only some last-ditch defending by Connor Goldson prevents his netting a second.

58'

GOAL! ARSENAL 2-1 SHREWSBURY: £15m man Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored his first goal for The Gunners with a low effort after the usual patient build-up, however Smith has had a howler as he let the shot slip under his body and into the net.

53'

Perhaps reeling from a half-time roasting from Wenger, the Gunners are all over this second half with Shrewsbury beginning to show signs of desperate defending.

48'

Arsenal have had plenty of attacking possession early in this second half, and Frimpong once again shoots straight down the throat of Smith.

46'

And we're back underway in this evenly-poised cup tie. No changes at the break for either side.

20:38

Last year's losing finalists have lost just one of their last 39 League Cup home games against lower league opposition, but that could be about to change as the imposing pairing of Morgan and Collins are giving Ignasi Miquel and Johan Djourou a torrid time.

45+2'

And the half-time whistle blows at The Emirates as the referee brings an enthralling 45 minutes to an end. Shrewsbury are more than deserving of the scoreline but Arsenal have improved as the half went on.

45'

There will be two minutes of injury time.

43'

Sean McAllister is booked for a tackle on Chamakh which looked a bit harsh.

41'

He's had a quiet start to his Arsenal career but Park springs to life and nearly give his side an undeserved half-time lead with a vicious shot from the right that flashes over the bar.

39'

Coquelin needs treatment after a strong tackle by Morgan

35'

Slowly but surely the home side are turning the screw, and Emmanuel Frimpong has an effort on goal which is easily stopped by Smith.

33'

GOAL! ARSENAL 1-1 SHREWSBURY: Parity has been restored as Carl Jenkinson's cross is nodded into the bottom corner by Kieron Gibbs.

28'

Another shot flashes wide of the Arsenal post as Wright's shot takes a deflection and fractionally goes off-target.

26'

Finally the home side get the opportunity to have another shot on goal, but Francis Coquelin's drive is well held by Smith.

23'

The confidence is flowing through Turner’s side now, and Ainsworth has an effort from 30 yards but it goes well wide.

19'

What a start for the visitors, and despite taking the lead they continue to attack. One side is passing the ball majestically around the park, and they're not in red and white shirts.

16'

GOAL!! ARSENAL 0-1 SHREWSBURY TOWN: Incredible!! The League Two side are in the lead! Morgan delivers the ball into the box and Collins heads the ball past Fabianski. Worryingly for Arsenal fans, it was fully deserved.

14'

The woodwork has been struck and would you believe it, it’s Shrewsbury’s Mark Wright with his head in his hands. After being played in by Lionel Ainsworth the winger saw his low shot beat Lukasz Fabianski but strike the far post, with James Collins hitting the side netting with the rebound.

11'

After a shaky start Shrewsbury have begun to settle in front of a 40,000+ crowd at The Emirates, and have got the ball into Morgan in dangerous positions.

7'

One minute later and the same two players are at it again, with Smith diving to his right to thwart the Moroccan striker.

5'

The first chance goes to the home side, and Marouane Chamakh's header is tipped away by Ben Smith in the Shrews goal.

4'

£12m man Oxlade-Chamberlain has already looked lively, and a dangerous cross is headed away by Reuben Hazell.

19:45

And we're underway at The Emirates. For those of you who like a picture of the game, both sides are in their traditional home kits with Shrewsbury attacking the Clock End.

19:40

And the players are now making their way out of the tunnel, with around 5,000 Shrewsbury fans giving their side a rapturous welcome.

19:39

The gulf in class is also evident on the subs bench, with the visitors only able to name six of the seven allotted replacements.

19:34

Despite this, Arsenal have reached at least the quarter-finals in each of the past eight seasons. A win at The Emirates against a side with plenty of Premier League experience would surely rank as Shrewsbury's greatest cup upset.

19:27

With seven goals to his name already this season, Marvin Morgan could be a real threat to an inexperienced Gunners defence. Whatever happens though we should be in for an entertaining encounter - Shrewsbury's last five Carling Cup games have yielded 25 goals.

19:26

Wenger does indeed name a strong side with Yossi Benayoun also making his first start for Arsenal. However Shrews boss Graham Turner must do without key defensive pair Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Ian Sharps who are both ruled out.

19:20

ARSENAL: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Miquel, Djourou, Gibbs, Coquelin, Frimpong, Benayoun, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Park, Chamakh… Subs: Martinez, Miyaichi, Aneke, Boateng, Ozyakup, Watt, Yennaris. /// SHREWSBURY TOWN: Smith, Grandison, Hazell, Goldson, Jacobson, Wright, McAllister, Wroe, Ainsworth, Collins, Morgan… Subs: Chris Neal, Leslie, Richards, Bradshaw, Male, Jon Taylor.

19:19

We’re now just waiting for the teams to officially be announced, but summer singings Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Park-Chu Young are expected to make their first starts for the home side.

19:15

It should be a cracker tonight with many youngsters tipped to start for the misfiring Gunners as they look to kick-start their season, however after dumping Swansea out in the last round The Shrews will be hoping to heap further pressure on Arsene Wenger.
