Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of Benfica vs Bayern in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final. I’ll bring you team news and build-up over the next hour, followed by full text commentary.

Bayern's ability to keep the ball is truly remarkable and they have ensured that Benfica have barely even had possession in the opening 10 minutes. That's all well and good, but the German side haven't looked like creating anything either.

Benfica press the ball well in packs, putting particular pressure on the two Bayern wide players. Costa is playing on the right today by the looks of things, cutting inside on to his left foot.

It's interesting to see no Lewandowski up top for Bayern tonight. It's given them yet more numbers in the middle, but already you can see that Muller is being asked to do a lot of work as the central striker.

Benfica have started this game brightly, sat deep but springing forward in numbers whenever they manage to get a sniff of the ball.

Eliseu takes the free-kick, but slams it into the wall and is fortunate to win a corner. The visitors deal well with the delivery and back we go to Bayern keep-ball. That's an encouraging start for the home side though.

Benfica win a free-kick in a very dangerous position as Kimmich is adjudged to have been a little too physical with a headed clearance.

Unfortunately for Benfica, they are without star striker and top scorer Jonas through suspension. A lot is expected of dynamic attacking midfielder Renato Sanches, who has the chance to further boost his already burgeoning reputation this evening. His ability to transition the ball quickly will be vital for Benfica in a game where they are likely to see very little of the ball in the opposition half.

Injuries are a big problem at the back for Bayern. Jerome Boateng, Holger Badstuber and Mehdi Benatia are all out, meaning that the makeshift defence will be vulnerable against a Benfica side who will set up to hit them with pace on the break.

Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich have been superb over the last three years, but the lack of Champions League success is definitely a blot on his copybook… and something that Pep himself is clearly desperate to get right in his final season. The German Champions have made it beyond this stage in both of Guardiola’s previous campaigns, only to then be beaten by Real Madrid and Barcelona at the semi-final stage. Getting past Benfica tonight is the latest challenge en-route to the summit of the European game, but the coach will rightly be concerned by the recent performances of his team, which have started to dip – just as they have done during the last couple of months of his previous campaigns.

This tie is delicately poised after a tight first leg in Munich last week. Bayern lead by an Arturo Vidal goal to nil, and also have the benefit of preventing Benfica from scoring an away goal, but the Portuguese side’s defensive effort was extremely impressive and they will always back themselves at the Estadio da Luz. Atletico Madrid are the only team to have won at the ground in the last six Champions League games here, with Benfica keeping three clean-sheets and conceding just three goals in that run. The conclusion: this isn’t going to be easy for Bayern.
