90+4'

IT'S ALL OVER!

Roma are heading to the quarterfinals for the first time in a decade! Shakhtar were very well orgainsed, and deserve credit, but ultimately lacked the attacking spark to break down the Giallorossi defence.

90+3'

CHANCE!

Taison delivers a delighful ball into the area with the outside of his boot, which Dentinho picks up! But the sub puts it just wide!

90+2'

Ismaily tries to latch on to a long ball on the left flank, but it goes out for a Roma throw. Understandably, the home side take their time.

89'

SUB: Dzeko is replaced by El Shaarawy

88'

Shakhtar win a free kick on the edge of the Roma area, 25 yards out! This is dangerous!

Alan Patrick's shot is absorbed by the Roma wall, which appears to consist of all 10 outfield players!

87'

Shakhtar are pushing for the goal they need. Taison is dispossessed as he charges into the box from the left.

82'

SUB: Dentinho comes on for Marlos.

81'

Kolarov takes a free kick arounf 25 yards out from goal, but it flies straight into the wall.

79'

RED CARD!

Ordets pulls Dzeko down as he advances towards goal. He's the last man so the ref has little choice.

Shakhtar continue with ten men!

76'

Fred gets a booking for tripping Strootman.

73'

CHANCE!

Gerson receives the ball from Dzeko in space in the box - but he takes too long trying to place his shot under Pyatov and sqaunders the chance!

71'

Stepanenko goes int he book for bringing down Perotti.

71'
68'

CHANCE!

Strootman and Dzeko counter! Dzeko charges towards the box, with three Shakhtar players in tow, but his eventual shot flies wide!

65'

SUB: Gerson replaces Under.

63'

CHANCE!

Dzeko gains possession on the right side of the box and tries to curl one in at the left post, but it flies just wide!

58'

Stepanenko is dispossessed in the box for Shakhtar's sixth corner. Marlos' inswinger is headed away by Fazio.

56'

Taison breaks on the right flank and picks out a great Ismaily run - but De Rossi sticks out hie right foot for a SUPERB tackle on the edge of the box!

Great work from the captain!

55'

Perotti picks up the ball on the edge of the box and attempts to curl it in - but Pyatov collects.

The home side have finally woken up!

55'

Manolas goes into the book.

54'

It was Shakhtar right-back Butko who played Dzeko onside there - a mistake in an otherwise very disciplined defensive performance.

Dzeko was put through by a superb ball from Kevin Strootman.

52'

GOAL!

Dzeko gets the goal the Giallorossi need! He beats the offside trap and slots the ball under Pyatove with his first touch!

48'

Given their relative lack of urgency, someone needs to remind Roma of this...

46'

THE SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY!

Ferrerya gets the ball rolling! Roma must score to progress to the quarter-finals. If Shakhtar score, Roma will need three.

45+1'

The referee blows up for the first half. It's been a patient display from the visitors, who have dominated possession and forced Roma into playing on the break - like they did in Kharkiv.

It's unlikely that this half of football will live fondly in the memories fo the folks at the Stadio Olimpico tonight.

43'

Shakhtar win a free kick around 35 yards from goal, on the right flank. Taison swings it in... to Alisson's gloves. A disappointing delivery.

41'

Nainggolan picks out Under with a superb through ball, but the Turkish forward doesn't quite time his run correctly and fails to beat the offside trap.

39'

Florenzi goes in the book for pulling Taison's shirt.

39'

Nainggolan gets two bites of the cherry to deliver a cross from the right, both of which are headed away by Fred.

33'

CHANCE!

Ferrerya steals the ball from his countryman Fazio and has a clean run at goal on the right... but he fluffs his shot into the side netting.

31'

Roma are definitely favouring the left flank tonight. Kolarov beats his man and puts in a dangerous cross, but Dzeko isn't there to get his head on it.

28'

Shakhtar win the fifth corner of the game after Kolarov nods a cross clear. De Rossi heads the outswinger clear of danger, but Taison has a poke from about 30 yards. It lands somewhere in the stands.

25'

Kolarov crosses from the left flank, prompting an outstretched save from Pyatov. The danger is cleared, but this brief glimpse of excitement has roused the home crowd.

22'

After 20-ish minutes, there's not an awful lot of action to report. The only shot of the game has been Dzeko's feeble daisy-cutter in the opening seconds.

Thus far, it's certainly not as action-packed as the corresponding match in Kharkiv.

19'

IMPORTANT PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT

Nainggolan was sporting his typical mohawk in the first leg, but has since shaved it off. Presumably to confuse the opposition.

18'

Shakhtar are contorlling the game right now, neatly passing between their own defence and midfield. They're trying to coax Roma out of their shape, it seems, but it's not necessairly working.

The visitors have had 58% possession so far.

15'

Nainggolan - playing an advanced role tonight - feeds Perotti on the edge of the area in a dangerous looking attack. However, Perotti's return ball is disappointing and easily intercepted.

12'

Andrei Shevchenko is in the house, as is Il Gladiatore, Francesco Totti.

10'

Bernard attacks the box from the left and Florenzi challenges but it penalised for handball. Bernard swings in the free kick but Florenzi heads it our for another corner.

9'

Brazil's No. 1...

6'

Shakhtar win the first corner of the evening. Bernard plays it short but it comes to nothing.

5'

Nainggolan picks out a Dzeko run with a through-ball, but the Bosnian is correctly ruled off.

5'

Stepanenko hoofs a ball forward for Ferrerya, but the flag goes up.

That move aside, it's been all Roma attack so far.

3'

Strootman is called up for a fairly cynical foul on Marlos.

The atmosphere is electric in the stadium tonight.

1'

Roma break into the box straight away! Nainggolan cuts the ball back to Dzeko on the edge of the area, whose weak shot is collected by goalkeeper Pyatov.

1'

IT'S GO TIME IN ROME!

Spanish Referee Alberto Undiano blowws his whistle and Edin Dzeko gets the ball rolling.

19.40

Kick-off is 10 minutes away. It's 11c at the Stadio Olimpico, which will feel positively balmy for the visitors, who would be experiencing -3c if they were in Kharkiv right now.

It's perfect conditions for some soccerball!

19.35

Shakhtar still boast diminutive midfielder Bernard. Remember Bernard? He was suppose to light up the 2014 World Cup... but he probably doesn't like to talk about that experience.

He's been loyal to Shakhtar since leaving Atletico Mineiro in 2013, but the 25-year-old could be on the move this summer.

19.30

This game has a distinctly South American feel. Shakhtar is something of a haven for Brazilian talent, and they boast six of them tonight, plus Argentine forward Ferrerya.

Roma have four Brazilians of their own, plus two Argentines (Fazio and Perotti).

19.25

STAT ATTACK

Shakhtar have won 15 of the 19 continental ties in which they were victorious in the home first leg.

However, the Pitmen have also lost seven of their last 10 visits to Italy.

19.20

Roma are currently third in Serie A, three points clear of their roommates Lazio.

They come into this game off the back of big wins over Napoli and Torino, however, they have lost five of their last seven at the Stadio Olimpico.

19.15

Shakhtar recommenced league play on February 16th and have won the five games since by an aggregate score of 20-1.

Depsite playing 700 miles away from their Donbass Arena home since 2014, they are six points clear at the top of the league.

19.10

Newcastle flop Ferrerya is having his moment in the sun...

19.05

Roma and Shakhtar have faced each other five times. The Ukrainians have won four of those meetings and lost one.

The last time the two sides met at the Round of 16 phase was 2010-11, when Shakhtar progressed to a quarter-final meeting with Barcelona, thanks to a 6-2 aggregate victory.

19.00

Shakhtar earned a 2-1 win in the first leg in Kharkiv, with Ferreyra and Fred cancelling out Cengiz Under's opener.

A 1-0 win will do it for Eusebio Di Francesco's side, who have won their last two home games in the competition.

18.54
