PSG manager Unai Emery has made it clear that Neymar and Cavani are aware of the pecking order for dead ball situations: "I spoke with each of them and they know how things will happen.”
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic on that lineup: "We have a very good team. We will try to win the game; we want to win the group. We have multiple options that can come off the bench. We will try to keep things compact in the middle and cause them problems with our attackers going forward. It's a tough test, but we want to lay a marker down tonight."
Carlo Ancelotti has surprised/baffled many on social media by choosing the centre-back pairing Niklas Süle and Javi Martínez over the expected pairing of Boateng and Hummels.
PSG fans might have reason to be optimistic tonight: they've won all three home matches against Bayern (although the last time they met was 2000) and they have only lost one of their last 43 European home ties (a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the 2014-15 quarterfinals).
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN: Areola, Alves, Marquinhos, Silva, Kurzawa, Motta, Verratti, Rabiot, Mbappe, Cavani, Neymar. Subs: Trapp, Kimpembe, Meunier, Lo Celso, Di Maria, Draxler, Moura /// BAYERN MUNICH Ulreich; Kimmich, Süle, Martínez, Alaba; Vidal, Thiago, Tolisso; Müller, James Rodriguez, Lewandowski. Subs: Fruchtl, Hummels, Ribery, Robben, Rafinha, Rudy, Coman
In their biggest test of the season so far, PSG start with a full-strength XI. After sitting out the goalless draw at the weekend, Neymar reclaims his place in the attacking line alongside his good friend Edinson Cavani.
Bayern opt to leave Hummels, Ribery and Robben on the bench for their trip to Paris. Sven Ulreich takes his place between the sticks in place of the injured Manuel Neuer - he might give the hosts cause for optimism.
