GOOOOAAAALLLLL Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Manchester City. Aguero steps up an sweeps the ball into the top corner. Game on!
PENALTY TO CITY! Jesus hits the deck in the box under challenge from Butko. Chance for City to get back in this.
Four minutes of stoppage time here. Elsewhere...
62 per cent possession for City, but they have showed a real lack of cutting edge here.
Final change for Shakhtar, with Ferreyra replaced by David Khocholava.
Jesus finds the side-netting from a tight angle after more great work Diaz. Looks like a defeat is on the cards for City...
Viktor Kovalchenko replaces the impressive Marlos for the home side.
Toure cuts back inside, curls for the top corner, but that is always rising...
POST! Brilliant play from Diaz as he beats his man, gets to the byline, feeds Jesus, who stabs for goal from a tight angle a yard out, but the ball comes out off the post.
Foden and Diaz are the only ones really trying here. The more experienced City legs are saving themselves for Sunday...
Has been an odd debut at left wing-back...
Free-kick to Shakhtar in a dangerous position after Jesus clips Taison, but it is straight at Ederson.
Shakhtar still playing some really good stuff. The control from Bernard on the end of a long pass is sumptuous.
If City are going to get on the ball, they need to do more with it. Aguero needs service.
Here he comes. Fernandinho is the man to make way for Sergio Aguero. Pep is going for this...
Foden again clips a ball into the middle, but it is cleared. Here come Shakhtar once more...
Bernard, and Shakhtar, want more here. Put a fork in City, they look done.
Goalscorer Ismaily makes way for Shakhtar, Marcio Azevedo - another Brazilian - comes on in his place.
Brahim Diaz, another talented youngster, replaces Sane for City.
5-0 for Liverpool now. All five English clubs en route to the last 16. Only Chelsea have not won their group.
Two bookings for City, and Pep Guardiola won't be happy. Gundogan firstly for a very soft foul, and Fernandinho for protesting. Not overly impressive refereeing.
City are really starting to up the tempo. They work the ball well to Sane, who drills across goal, but Pyatov gathers.
A City free-kick goes out to Bernardo on the right, and his ball is plum on Fernandinho's head. He has a lot of power to create, and jumps too early, as the ball falls well wide of goal.
SHOULD HAVE BEEN THREE! Taison drives at the City defence, unchallenged, flicks for goal, Fernandinho half clears, it lands back at Taison's feet, but he blazes over the top. Should have at least hit the target.
City look much sharper second half. Foden gets forward and finds Jesus in the box, who nearly finds an opening eight yards out, but Shakhtar ease the pressure.
City already attacking with much more vigour in this half. We need to see more of Bernardo Silva, that is for sure.
CHANCE! Almost immediately City create an opening, but Sane can only fire into the grateful arms of Pyatov after Bernardo Silva had done well to pick him out.
We are back under way here in Kharkiv. No changes for either side.
Shakhtar's Brazilian influence really has caused so much bother for the Premier League leaders. City cannot cope with Taison's passing, Bernard's movement and Marlos' direct play. It is not often City don't score, so expect more from them after the break.
HT: Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 Manchester City. That's your lot for the first half, and it is fair to say City have been second best here in Kharkiv...
CLOSE! Taison, who has been a real thorn in City's side, drives at the City defence again, but fires just over the top.
SAVE! Foden with a superb ball in behind the defence for Jesus through on goal, but unlike the Brazilian, he dwells on it and goalkeeper Pyatov just about gets a touch on it with his feet to make the block.
BLOCK! Great play from Taison again to get to the ball and clip a cross to the back post, Fred arrives late, but Ellaquim Mangala makes the block.
Much better from City. Yaya Toure drives forward, feeds Gundogan on the edge of the box, but his fierce drive is blocked, and Jesus can't make anything of the rebound.
It gets better and better for Shakhtar...
Lovely from Sane on the left, skipping past to challenges, but his centre for Foden comes at the youngster so quickly, and he can't direct it goalwards. Over the bar.
With the Brazil coach in the stands, Ederson is hardly covering himself in glory so far.
City carved open by yet more fine football from the hosts. Super pass over the top from Marlos plays Ismaily in, out comes Ederson, but he does nothing, leaving Ismaily the simple task of nicking the ball around him before slotting into the empty net for his first Champions League goal.
GOOOOOAAAAALLL!!! Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 Manchester City. Ismaily, another Brazilian makes it two! City are all over the place.
Not the form of Champions...
City come forward, but their final ball is severely lacking this evening. Shakhtar very comfortable.
ALMOST TWO! Bernard again arrives from the left, in the box, but he is denied by a fine stop from Ederson. City on the ropes here.
Great play from Marlos again to carry the attack to City, he lays it off for Bernard, who takes his time, waits for his moment, pulls the ball onto his right foot, before curling a sublime effort over Ederson and into the net. City now have to score twice to deny Shakhtar their knockout dream.
GOOOOOOAAAALLL! Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 Manchester City. Bernard curls a beautiful strike past Ederson to break the deadlock.
Marlos goes tumbling on the edge of the box, but nothing is given. Certainly seemed to be making the most of it.
Danilo is the recipient of the game's first yellow card after leaving his foot in on Ismaily, minutes after Marlos had curled an effort straight at Ederson in the City goal.
Sane makes his way to the edge of the box, cuts back inside, but is dispossessed at the last.
Shakhtar playing some good stuff, but they are being careful not to over commit.
Real Madrid already 2-0 up against Borussia Dortmund, with one man centre stage once more. Thought he was having a bad season?
Foden gets forward well, whips a cross into the middle, but it is cleared. Decent start from the youngster.
City starting to up the ante here. Ilkay Gundogan tries to thread it through for Jesus, but it doesn't come off.
Taison appeared to pull up earlier on, but is soldiering on. Risky, but he is so crucial to this side.
Good work from Foden. He plays a nice one-two with Leroy Sane, and he looks to pile into the box, but it ricochets off his shin and out for a goal kick. Positive play nonetheless.
BLOCK! Facundo Ferreyra stabs the ball towards goal after Taras Stepanenko had done well to burst into the box and pull the ball back, but Fernandinho makes the block and clears.
Back on English soil...
Looks like Foden is playing left wing-back tonight. Will be interesting to see how he gets on there! Taison is in some space on the edge of the box, but he blazes well over with his right foot, when he had more time to compose himself.
Well Shakhtar's task just got that little bit more challenging...
KICK OFF! We are under way here in the Metalist Stadium in Kharkiv. Frenchman Benoit Bastien is our man in the middle.
So can Shakhtar do it again? Playing in Kharkiv, so far from home in war-torn Donetsk, they continually triumph in the face of adversity. Tonight, a draw will do against a much-changed City side. City have stumbled a little of late domestically, but they keep finding that bit extra to grind out wins. A win for City would see them become the seventh side to win all six of their group matches in the competition, with Real Madrid the last side to do so in the 2014/15 campaign. Plenty still to play for! We are minutes away...
City can only admire Shakhtar's strike rate. This is Manchester City's seventh consecutive Champions League participation. They have made it past the round of 16 only once, it was in 2015/16 when they reached the semi-finals (knocked out by Real Madrid). Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk have reached the knockout stages in three of their last six Champions League campaigns, their best performance dating back to 2010/11 (quarter-finalists). Shakhtar have won their two home games in the Champions League so far this season, scoring also 2 goals in each of their last four outings on home soil.
UNFAMILAR GROUND: This is the second competitive encounter between Shakhtar Donetsk and Manchester City after the English team's 2-0 win at the Etihad in September.
Makes your feel old...
Seven changes to the City side from the weekend win over West Ham, with Sunday's Manchester derby in mind. England Under-17s star Phil Foden gets his first-team debut, while 20-year-old defender Tosin Adarabioyo is also in. Elsewhere it's a strong line up, with first choice Ederson in goal, Yaya Toure in midfield, as well as Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus starting
