Ajax youngster Frenkie de Jong believes that his side should have beaten Juventus by a greater margin than their 2-1 Champions League win on Tuesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo's header looked to have put Juve on course for the semi-finals only for goals from Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt to secure a famous win which De Jong believes flattered their hosts.

"We could have scored a few more in the second half," the midfielder, who will move to Barcelona this summer, told reporters.

"In the first half they had a bit more control. Their 1-0 lead was not exactly undeserved but luckily for us we were able to get back to 1-1 quickly after that.

"But after the half-time break, we were so much better than them. We wasted a lot of good chances and we should have been much more in the lead."

Van de Beek agreed the victory margin should have been bigger.

"We should have won 4-1. On the basis of our second half showing it was a deserved victory," said the midfielder, who turns 22 on Thursday.

Ajax will face either Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals.
