Cristiano Ronaldo has been sent off during his Champions League debut after appearing to clash with Valencia’s Jeison Murillo at the Mestalla.

Ronaldo, the leading scorer in Champions League history, was making his first appearance in the competition since leaving Real Madrid to join Juventus for €105 million, and was dismissed with just 29 minutes gone.
The 33-year-old appeared to be in tears after referee Felix Brych gave the former Real Madrid man a straight red after he clashed with Valencia centre-half Murillo on the edge of the box.
The incident that led to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s dismissal looked fairly innocuous, and the forward was inconsolable after being issued with a red card.
The Portuguese faces up to a three-game suspension should the decision be upheld, which would see him miss both games against Manchester United as well as the fixture with BSC Young Boys.
It was Ronaldo's first red card in Europe's elite club competition in his 154th game.
