Inter Milan crashed out of the Champions League on their head-to-head record with Tottenham after a 1-1 draw at home to PSV Eindhoven.
Luciano Spaletti’s side finished in third place in the group despite mounting another late fightback via Mauro Icardi to grab a point.

The Italian side made a bright start with Ivan Perisic hitting the post but fell behind to Hirving Lozano’s header after a mistake from Kwadwo Asamoah.
And the home side, who left Radja Naiggolan on the bench due to an injury, eventually got their equaliser through a header from close range from Icardi for his 12th goal of the season.
But Inter were unable to grab another goal, after Lucas Moura had scored for Spurs at the Nou Camp to make it 1-1, and failed to complete their version of the Italian Job after substitute Lautaro Martinez spurned two glorious opportunities.
It means the three-time European champions will have to contend with a place in the Europa League while Mark van Bommel’s men finish bottom of the group.

TALKING POINT

How did Inter blow it?
You would have fancied the Italian side’s assignment, at home to the bottom side in the group, compared to Spurs’ uphill task against Barcelona. But Inter were too gung-ho which allowed the Dutch side space to create chances and score. And once Icardi scored another one his trademark late goals they had chances to nick it but Martinez continued his nightmare spell in an Inter shirt by failing to score with two headers from close range.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Jeroen Zoet (PSV): The keeper was immense particularly in the second half. Marshalling his area well, punching and catching the ball at the right times and producing a miraculous save to deny Icardi.
