In the end, Napoli will be relieved to have held on for a share of the points. But they contributed massively to a very entertaining contest. The first half was flat at times, but the second period more than made up for it. Group C is very much still open following tonight's results.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Napoli 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Is there one last chance in this match? It's PSG who are forcing the issue, with Napoli sitting back. If there's going to be a winner then it's more likely it will be the French champions'.
- OffThilo KehrerParis Saint-Germain
- OnEric Maxim Choupo-MotingParis Saint-Germain
Final change for PSG and it's Choupo-Moting who comes on for Kehrer. Tuchel is going for it!
- Yellow cardNeymarParis Saint-Germain
Now Neymar enters the book. The Brazilian is complaining about some of the referee's decisions. He sarcastically applauds.
Four minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- Yellow cardMarco VerrattiParis Saint-Germain
Verratti takes one for the team, bringing down a Napoli attacker as the Italians burst forward on the counter.
Who would this result suit better? Would Napoli and PSG both be happy with a point apiece given that Liverpool suffered a shock defeat in Belgrade earlier in the night?
How will the injury to Mertens change the way Napoli approach these final few minutes? They had been pushing forward, but losing the Belgian seems to have knocked their stuffing out.
Should have scored! That's the first clear cut opportunity that has fallen Mbappe's way! He was picked out inside the box, unmarked, but he scuffs his effort wide of the post. What a chance.
- OffDries MertensNapoli
- OnAdam OunasNapoli
Off comes Mertens and the Belgian actually seems to be holding his arm. Did he land awkwardly?
Mertens injury! This doesn't look good for the Belgian forward. Mertens is down on the turf and has picked up an ankle injury. Napoli are going to be forced into a change here.
PSG have conceded at least one goal in each of their last eight Champions League matches. They have already conceded one here, but will the bleeding stop there? Can Napoli grab a second?
- OffÁngel Di MaríaParis Saint-Germain
- OnEdinson CavaniParis Saint-Germain
And here he is... Cavani comes on for PSG and the home fans give him a standing ovation.
- OffNikola MaksimovicNapoli
- OnElseid HysajNapoli
Hysaj comes on for Napoli. There's 12 minutes left to play and this match is on a knife-edge.
Is there a winner left in this match for either of these two teams? The game has entered something of a lull. It will surely crank up in pressure again before the full time whistle is blown.
Cavani is getting ready to come on for PSG. One wonders how he will be received by the passionate home fans inside the San Paolo. He was a fans' hero for Napoli when he was there.
- OffThomas MeunierParis Saint-Germain
- OnPresnel KimpembeParis Saint-Germain
PSG make their first change of the evening and it's Meunier who is coming off for the French champions.
PSG penalty claim! Bernat looked to be tripped inside he Napoli penalty area, but no spot kick was given. Replays show that PSG had a very strong claim there. It was a clear trip.
Liverpool will be pleased with how this is going so far. Their defeat in Belgrade has opened the door for both Napoli and PSG to take control of this Champions League group.
- OffFabián RuizNapoli
- OnPiotr ZielinskiNapoli
Here comes a change for Napoli and it's Zielinski who replaces Ruiz.
In behind! Bernat was released to the byline by Neymar, but when he looked up he decided to go for Meunier at the back post and his cross was cut out. Could he have gone for Mbappe?
Will we see Tuchel make a change shortly? Keep in mind that PSG have Cavani on the bench. Could the Uruguayan come back to haunt his former club? He's certainly an option.
Tuchel is out on the touchline. The German looks concerned by what he has seen at the start of this second half. He has good reason to be. PSG have been battered in the past 20 minutes.
So what sort of game will we get now? There's still 25 minutes to play, plenty of time for either side to take a grip of things and claim the three points. Will Napoli continue to press?
Fantastic response from Napoli. It took some time for this game to burst into life, but the PSG right at the end of the first half has lit a firework underneath the contest. Game on.
- Goal by penaltyLorenzo InsigneNapoli
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Napoli 1 (63 mins - Lorenzo Insigne) Paris Saint-Germain 1. Napoli are level and they deserve to be! The pressure has told in the end! Lorenzo waits and waits and waits, and then finds the left hand corner of Buffon's net. The keeper went the right way, but there was no way he was stopping that.
PENALTY KICK TO NAPOLI! Callejon is sandwiched between Buffon and Thiago! The referee points to the spot!
PSG are being tested defensively in this second half. Napoli are throwing caution to the wind, but that is leaving space in behind for the likes of Mbappe and Neymar to exploit.
Header on goal! Neymar gets on the end of a Bernat cross, which was slightly behind him, but Ospina can make the relatively straight-forward save from the Brazilian forward.
This has turned into a completely different game. What we saw in the first half was a conservative, measured performance from both teams. Napoli have now thrown caution to the wind.
Another Buffon save! Another Mertens opportunity! This time the cross is played into the Belgian, but his shot is saved by Buffon! It was a reflex stop from he veteran goalkeeper!
Neymar was through! All of a sudden, PSG were through on the counter attack, with Neymar bursting into the box. It looked like he was held back, but the referee gives nothing!
Napoli again! My word, the hosts are giving it an almighty go at the start of the second half! This time it's Thiago who makes the block to deny Mertens on the stretch. Flashes over.
Sooooooooo close! Napoli must have thought they'd got the equaliser there! Mertens played in Callejon, who was looking for the far corner, but Kehrer gets a block in and deflects wide!
What an opening few minutes to this second half. What a few minutes for Buffon, who made a fumble, followed by two huge saves to keep PSG ahead. This game has exploded.
Tipped over the top! Another excellent save from Buffon! Mertens tried to lob the PSG keeper from just inside the penalty box, but Buffon was able to tip over his own crossbar.
Good strike, good save! Maksimovic played in Mertens, who got away an early strike. It was heading for the far corner of the PSG net, but Buffon got down to make the diving save.
Buffon fumble! What was the Italian veteran doing? The cross from Callejon looked to be a simple one for him to gather, but he somehow fumbled it and gave away the corner kick.
PSG struck right at the end of the first half through Bernat. How will Napoli respond? They struggled to create much in the way of goalscoring chances. That has to change.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way at the San Paulo! PSG have a 1-0 lead over Napoli.
What did you make of the first half at the Stadio San Paulo? Do PSG deserve to be ahead? Does Ancelotti need to make any changes to his side at the break? Tweet me!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Napoli 0-1 Paris Saint-Germain. The referee had the whistle in his mouth, ready to blow, when Bernat opened the scoring. How will Napoli respond in the second half?
- GoalJuan BernatParis Saint-Germain
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Napoli 0 Paris Saint-Germain 1 (46 mins - Juan Bernat). What an end to the half! Mbappe feeds Bernat, who makes a late run into the box. He manages to keep his feet and his balance, slotting a finish under Ospina in the Napoli goal! PSG have the lead a the Stadio San Paolo!
Insigne on the turn! The Napoli attacker takes a pass with his back to goal, turns and shoots... but Thiago does just enough to get a deflection on the effort and it flashes over.
This will suit Liverpool. Klopp's team suffered a pretty poor result away in Belgrade earlier tonight, losing 2-0. A draw between these two teams would mitigate the blow of that loss.
For all that PSG have undoubtedly looked threatening, working their way into dangerous positions in the final third, they have only forced Ospina into a save once. One shot on target.
Neymar looks the most likely to make something happen for either side at the moment. The Brazilian has enjoyed himself, but has yet to be presented with that golden opportunity.
Into the wall! Insigne lines up the freekick 25 yards out, but his effort strikes the top of the PSG wall. In fact, it struck the head of Thiago, who is taking a moment to gather himself.
Could this be an opportunity for Napoli to at least draw a save from Buffon? They have a freekick 25 yards out following a pretty late foul from Verratti in the centre of the pitch.
It just feels like PSG are starting to turn the screw on Napoli. They have had the better of the opportunities and now the French champions are starting to shade the possession too.
Di Maria on target! That's actually the first shot on target of the match, and we've had to wait 36 minutes for it. Di Maria swivels and shoots from 20 yards out, but it's straight at Ospina.
Koulibaly has really shown his quality in this first half. We have known how good the Napoli centre back is for quite some time, but against Mbappe and Neymar he is proving it here.
That's a contentious call from the officials. Neymar believes that he kept the ball in at the goalline, and he might have a case. Instead, the referee awards the goal kick to the hosts.
- Yellow cardThilo KehrerParis Saint-Germain
Kehrer is the second PSG player to be shown yellow this evening.
Chance for Ruiz! Marquinhos made a mess of a clearance on the edge of his own box, the ball falls to Ruiz about 20 yards out, but he makes a hash of the finish and skews wide.
- Yellow cardKylian MbappéParis Saint-Germain
Mbappe enters the book. He's cutting a frustrated figure at the moment.
What a tackle! Mbappe looked to have the better of Koulibaly, but the Napoli defender stuck with the PSG striker all the way and won the ball cleanly in the well-timed slide tackle.
PSG need to be careful with that high line. It works for them in Ligue 1, but Napoli have much more attacking intelligence than any team PSG come up against in their own league.
Mertens was in behind! That was a lovely run from the Belgian, who caught out PSG's high line from a freekick, but Mertens couldn't gather it and the away side survives. Nice idea.
MBAAAAAAAAAPE! That would have been a stunner from the youngster. Mbappe was played in, but the angle was tight. He struck a half-volley, but the ball flashed just wide of the far post. Close.
Sliced wide! That was most likely a cross from Callejon down the right side, but he cuts across the delivery and the ball flashes across the face of goal and wide of the far post.
Neymar is really starting to crank things up now. The Brazilian has his critics, but there's no denying that there are few in the sport right now who can affect a game like he can.
Too high! Neymar beats his man and gets to the byline, clipping a cross into the penalty box. But there was nobody in the middle for the Brazilian to hit and the chance vanishes.
Chance for PSG! Meunier should have done so much better with that. Neymar's dribble created the chance, but Meunier tried to play it back to the Brazilian rather than shooting himself.
Footage from Liverpool's earlier defeat in this group...
That's disappointing! Napoli win the ball high up the pitch, dispossessing Mbappe, but Rui gets it all wrong in trying to cross into the penalty area. The delivery was way too strong.
Rui pushed the ball forward to the edge of the PSG box and looked for the one-two from Hamisk, but PSG blocked off the channel and intercepted the return pass. Solid at the back.
Deflected! Di Maria plays in Meunier, who gets to the byline and gets a cross into the box. The cross picks up a deflection and spins into the air. Ospina makes the clean catch, though.
PSG are playing with a back three this evening, with full backs high up the pitch. Meunier on the right side is playing pretty much as an out-and-out winger. Providing an outlet.
Was Mertens shooting? Well, that was strange. It looked like the Belgian winger was taken a shot from inside his own half. It was blocked and he seems to have injured himself!
Rabiot is sat on the bench this evening. The midfielder has been out of the team since showing up late for a team meeting a couple weeks ago. Tuchel has taken a harsh stance.
Napoli have probably just about edged the opening eight minutes in terms of their share of the possession, but we have already seen the danger PSG pose in the final third.
Important block! That's the first time PSG have threatened, with Mbappe laying the ball off to Verratti. The Italian takes the shot, but Koulibaly rushes out to make the important block.
It's been a high tempo, high intensity start to the match at the Stadio San Paolo, but there has been little in the way of quality. It's been quite a scrappy start to the match.
As I mentioned in the build up to kick off, Liverpool's 2-0 defeat in Belgrade has opened the door for both Napoli and PSG. That result could have a big bearing on how Group C finishes.
These are two of the most exciting teams to watch in the European game right now. We saw that in the first game between Napoli and PSG at the Parc des Princes. Great stuff.
The first meeting between these two teams two weeks ago was massively entertaining, with PSG scoring late on to snatch a point. If that was a precursor for tonight, we're in for a treat.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Napoli against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League!
Here we go. About to get under way. This should be a good one. Looking forward to this game.
The Chaaaaaaaaaaaaampions! The San Paulo bellows out the famous anthem. They are UP for this one!
The two groups of players are just walking out on to the pitch now. The atmosphere sounds electric.
Not long until kick off at the San Paulo. This could be one of the games of this season's Champions League so far.
Tight! This group is so competitive that this result will have a big bearing on how things finish and who out of Liverpool, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain make the round of 16.
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter ahead of the game to let me know your thoughts. Who are the favourites for this one? Who needs the win more? Tweet me!
Opportunity! Liverpool are currently losing 2-0 in Belgrade and that defeat could open the door for both Napoli and PSG in this Champions League group. Three teams vying for two spots.
