Batshuayi chests down Pulisic's deflected shot but hammers it over the top from eight yards out. That was a gilt-edged opportunity.
Batshuayi almost makes an immediate impact but can't get enough contact on his effort and it's easy for Onana.

Edson Álvarez meets a right-wing corner but sees his diving header flash back off the far post. Ajax keep the pressure on and Blind tests Kepa with a fizzing 20-yard drive.

A flowing Ajax move almost sees Promes get free in the box, but Azpilicueta covers well in-behind and sweeps the ball to safety.
Mount spins his man brilliantly but takes too long lining up a shot from 25 yards and sees it blocked.

Tadic booked for halting a Chelsea break with a brutal block on Willian. The Dutch side had started the half brightly with a succession of corners.

Ziyech is the next player to have a go from distance - but his is just as bad as Azpilicueta's.
Azpilicueta has a pop from 20 yards, but fires well wide. His teammates are not impressed.
The home side are trying to crank up the heat just before the interval, but Chelsea easily deal with a succession of corners.
Promes motioning to the crowd with his arms. He wants them to raise the noise.
Ajax come again, but Promes is denied by a brilliant last-ditch challenge from Azpilicueta as he was about to pull the trigger.
VAR checks - and the goal is chalked off for offside. Good news for Chelsea! It remains 0-0.
GOAL! Promes arrives on cue at the far post to prod home Ziyech's cross from close range.
Chelsea set Hudson-Odoi free on the left, but his teasing cross is too close Onana. The youngster has looked very dangerous, but his end product has been lacking so far.
Lampard will be delighted with this first half an hour. Ajax's rhythm has been disrupted and the Blues have had the better attacking situations over the past 10 minutes or so.
Chelsea win the ball high in the Ajax half. Willian feeds Hudson-Odoi, but he can't wriggle past his man to get a shot away. Frustration for the Abraham who was charging into the middle.
Hudson-Odoi with another effort! On this occasion he seizes upon a miscued headed clearance but drags his first-time strike wide of the near upright.

Hudson-Odoi charges into the left side of the Ajax area, but drills a rising shot well wide of the near post.
Jody Morris is booked on the Chelsea bench. He frowns in irritation.
More super defending from Tomori as he blocks a driven, low cross before recovering to hack it away from the danger zone.
CHELSEA v DUTCH OPPOSITION: The Blues have won two and drawn two of their four meetings with sides from Holland.
Close! Mount surges in from the left and rifles a low shot towards the near-post bottom corner, but Onana is down well to push it away.
It's been a good watch so far. Both sides looking to attack at every opportunity.
Kepa's error allows Ziyech to jink at the Blues defence on the right of the box. It's a dangerous situation for the away side, but Tomori sticks to his guns and manages to tidy up with some mature defending.
Van de Beek meets a clever, driven corner with a wonderful volley that is importantly blocked to safety by Zouma.
Ajax playing with typical Ajax-like verve and swagger. Joël Veltman steps forward from deep and blasts a 30-yarder just past Kepa's left-hand post.
STAT: Chelsea have won six of their eight unbeaten European matches since losing 3-0 to Barcelona in March 2018. It is their longest ever run without defeat in Europe.
Ajax respond with a slick counter. Donny van de Beek sees a shot from 12 yards hit Tomori. The hosts want a penalty for hand ball, but the referee brings it back for an offside in the build up.
Chelsea press high up the pitch right from the off and win a corner on the left. Hudson-Odoi swings it in but Onana punches it to safety.

PROMES ON THE PROWL: Quincy Promes is hoping to become the first player ever to net in his first three Champions League matches for Ajax.
Daley Blind: "Why do Dutch teams struggle against Premier League sides? Mainly in the physical game. In the Premier League, that is very strong. (Tammy Abraham) is doing very well. He is a good striker, but I am preparing as always, not just for their striker, but for the entire team."
DID YOU KNOW? Ajax have not won three consecutive Champions League matches since November 2005.
Chelsea have made just the one change from the win over Newcastle. Mateo Kovacic comes in for the injured Ross Barkley.
Eric ten Hag: "We are confident, bold and have faith in our abilities, but on the other hand I don't think you can ever consider us favourites against a team from the English Premier League."
Frank Lampard: "We have confidence in ourselves, but it's a tough match. I watched them play last year and I know their team has changed slightly. I'm very aware of the new threats they have. They've won their two Champions League games convincingly."
