Incredible celebrations. Morata raced cleared as Liverpool pushed forward, before finishing well past Adrian.
GOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLL!!! Liverpool 2-3 Atletico (agg: 2-4). Game over as Morata finishes Liverpool off.
Two minutes of added time here.
Yellow card each for Alexander-Arnold and Morata as they clash off the ball.
Timewastiing here from Oblak as he stays down after being fouled by Milner.
Mane cannot get the cross into the middle. The tie is slipping away from Liverpool here.
Change for Liverpool as Frimino is replaced by Takumi Minamino.
Liverpool seem a little shorn of ideas now, stunned by what has happened here.
NO PENALTY! Never going to happen as Mane hits the deck. Nothing given.
What an evening for the former Real Madrid man.
This is going to be a bombardment from Liverpool. Mane has it on the right, lashes one low into the box, and Oblak has to get down well to beat away the cross.
Not the time to do it, either...
Double change for Liverpool as Divock Origi and Fabinho come on for Henderson and Wijnaldum. One change for Atleti as Jose Gimenez is on for Correa. We go again!
HT: Liverpool 2-2 Atletico (agg: 2-3) Three goals in that 15 minutes. Liverpool need two more...
Would you believe it. Having had so many chances in normal time, Atleti have two away goals in extra time! Out of nowhere! Super strike from Llorente again, arrowing his effort into the bottom corner. Liverpool need two now.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Liverpool 2-2 Atletico (agg: 2-3) Incredible scenes as Llorente fires into the net once more to stun Anfield!
Change for Atleti, with Alvaro Morata on for Felix.
There were just 167 seconds between the two goals in extra time. Still silence around Anfield.
Liverpool come again as two balls are lifted into the box from the right. Both are cleared, and the second falls to Salah, but he lashes over on the volley.
The hero Atleti needed.
Dreadful clearance from Adrian to Felix, who then feeds Llorente. The substitute gets the ball out of his feet, and finds the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Silence at Anfield.
GOOOOOOOOALLLLLLLL!! Liverpool 2-1 Atletico (agg: 2-2). Poor clearance from Adrian is punished as Llorente fires Atleti back into this! What drama!
You can't say they don't deserve it. Great cross again, this time from Wijnaldum, Firmino rises, his header hits the post, but he stays composed to steer home the rebound.
GOOOOOAALLLLL!!!! Liverpool 2-0 Atletico (agg: 2-1). Firmino picks the perfect time to score his first home goal of the season to put Liverpool ahead in the tie!
SAVE! Again Oblak makes the block to deny Wijnaldum. From the rebound Firmino cannot guide the header on target.
KICK OFF! We are back under way for the first period of extra time. Sime Vrsaljko is on for Trippier.
Loves the spectacular.
FT: Liverpool 1-0 Atletico (agg:1-1). Extra time is upon us. Liverpool had their chances to win it, but could not find that killer second. Atleti played for extra time and got their wish.
NO GOAL! Saul heads into the net from a free kick, the Atleti bench go crazy, but the flag is up! Offside!
Two minutes of added time. Extra time is nearing...
Simeone calling for calm here. Can his side hold on?
His side are living on the edge.
OVER! How have Liverpool not won this? Salah jinks past two, cuts onto his left, goes for the top corner, but gets underneath it and fires over.
CHAAAANCE! Milner immediately into the thick of the action as he clips a cross into Wijnaldum, who heads across for Mane. The Senegalese forward elects for the overhead kick, but fires over! Had time to bring it down!
Change for Liverpool as the exhausted Oxlade-Chamberlain is replaced by James Milner.
CHANCE! Great disguised pass from Alexander-Arnold into Robertson on the edge of the box, but Scot drills wide. Should have done better.
Early ball into Salah is perfect from Mane, but the Egyptian's control lets him down again.
Liverpool playing a patient game here. They know they don't need to take unnecessary risks.
The visitors are starting to play their football now. Still, when they get to the final third, it falls apart.
Correa and Van Dijk clash. Starting to get a little feisty now.
Does feel as though it is very much next goal wins here. Both are looking nervous...
BLOCK! Alexander-Arnold drills for goal from distance, Oblak makes the save, Robertson is again on hand, but Trippier does really well to make the block.
It does seem to be coming.
CROSSBAR! So close for Liverpool. Salah cuts onto his left foot, his shot is blocked, the ball loops up into the air, Robertson comes flying in, heads for goal, but sees his effort come out off the crossbar.
Great feet from Partey as Atleti break. That killer pass is missing, though.
Great tempo now to this, with Atleti starting to commit some bodies forward.
DOUBLE SAVE! All happening here. On the break, Felix carries it forward, drills for goal, Adrian gets a hand to it but cannot palm the ball clear, Correa is there to meet the loose ball, but Adrian flings himself at the feet of Correa to make the block with his face!
SAVE! Oblak to the rescue again for Atleti. Alexander-Arnold with another brilliant cross, Firmino is there at the back post, but his close range effort is blocked by Oblak.
Indeed he is.
Costa is not happy as he is replaced by Marcos Llorente. Costa kicks the medical bag and does not even acknowledge Simeone!
SAVE! Oxlade-Chamberlain has time to line up an effort from distance, fizzes a strike for the bottom corner, but Oblak gets across to make the save.
Lovely threaded pass from Salah into Oxlade-Chamberlain, who turns sharply but fires well over the top. Had more time than he realised.
Felix tries to turn but lets the ball run under his foot. Not gone his way so far this evening. Wijnaldum's goal still leaves this finely poised.
Salah gets himself into a great position down the right, he has plenty of time, but elects to shoot early with his left foot, and Oblak makes an easy save.
Some rare action for Adrian as he comes out to claim a cross.
We are back under way here. No change for either side.
Man for the occasion...
HT: Liverpool 1-0 Atletico (agg: 1-1). It took a while to come but Wijnaldum ensures it is all square in the tie. Keeping Atleti out is a must. Feels like next goal wins here.
One minute of added time at the end of the half.
Here we go! All square in the tie as last season's semi-final hero arrives right on cue to head home Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross to give the Reds the lead on the night.
GOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! Liverpool 1-0 Atletico. Wijnaldum with the header to send Anfield into delirium.
Great challenge from Alexander-Arnold as he takes man and ball on Joao Felix.
They certainly are...
Great punch from Oblak under pressure. Atleti remain a tough nut to crack.
Henderson goes through Correa but escapes a caution.
Liverpool have upped the tempo here. Great ball in from Alexander-Arnold causes all sorts of problems, but Firmino cannot quite get on the end of it and Oblak beats the ball away.
CHANCE! Salah does well to muscle his man off the ball, feeds the ball across for Mane, who has a good view of the ball all the way across, but fires straight at Oblak.
Some possession for Atleti now. Correa does well to work space for the cross but Andrew Robertson gets back to make the tackle.
We have goals elsewhere...
A fine containing effort from Atletico so far. Roberto Firmino is looking especially forlorn.
It's simply incredible how quick Atletico get back into position as Liverpool move up the pitch. Trippier is so tight on Mane on the left, with the help of Correa, so Liverpool keep going right.
Liverpool a little flat here at the moment as they struggle to find a way through.
Never change, Diego. Somehow the pantomime villain gets away with throwing the ball away.
Sadio Mane's header looks goalbound but the ball ricochets off Felipe's head and away.
CLOSE! Corner is whipped into the near post, Felipe darts across his man, but heads just wide.
Looks as though Atleti have been working on some free kick routines prior to this.
First real save for Oblak to make as he gets down well to beat away a fizzing effort from Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Possession from Liverpool as the rain comes down here.
Jordan Henderson the next to have a go, but scuffs his effort well wide. Good pace to this.
Mo Salah takes the attack to Atleti, cuts onto his left, but fires over the top.
Kieran Tripper makes the dart down the right to get on the end of a free kick, but he cannot get the cross into the middle.
Great burst of place from Oxlade-Chamberlain, but his cross is cleared.
Glancing header from Georginio Wijnaldum but that is easy for Jan Oblak to gather.
My word, Atleti open Liverpool up straight away, with Joao Felix sliding in Diego Costa, but the low shot is always heading wide.
KICK OFF! We are under way here in an electric atmosphere.
The elephant in the room...
Se here we go. The famous anthem has boomed all around Anfield as we near yet another famous European night. Are we in line for something special once more on this famous old ground? We are minutes away!
So what does history suggest will happen tonight? On each of the last two occasions, Liverpool have lost away from home in the first leg of a Champions League knockout match, they have progressed to the next round; the Reds eliminated Chelsea and Barcelona in the semi-finals in 2006-07 and 2018-19.

Atleti in the house. Not exactly self-quarantine is it? When will the authorities learn?
ALISSON BLOW, HENDERSON STARTS, COSTA AND FELIX START: Big blow for Liverpool in the run-up to this with goalkeeper Alisson ruled out through injury, Adrian again deputises. Also, in the other change from the first leg, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain comes in for Fabinho, who drops to the bench. Big news for the Reds is that skipper Jordan Henderson is fit and starts. Chief pantomime villain Diego Costa starts for Atletico Madrid, replacing Alvaro Morata from the first leg, while Englishman abroad Kieran Trippier also replaces Vrsaljko and Joao Felix comes in for Thomas Lemar.
