FULL-TIME: Dynamo Kyiv 0-4 Barcelona

A very deceptive scoreline in the end and another Champions League victory for Barcelona that papers over the cracks after an uninspiring first half performance from both sides. In the second-half Barca were much improved but the result is still generous and perhaps more of an indictment of Dynamo's individual errors and negative football instead of Barca's brilliance.

CHANCE! De la Fuente has tonnes of space to run into and he lays it off to his international teammate Dest on the edge of the box, who has made a lung-busting run to join the attack. But he's off-balance when he takes the shot and it sails wide.

Chance for Dynamo Kyiv almost immediately as Buyalski disposesses Lenglet and is brought down but the referee waves advantage and the home side have a shot saved by ter Stegen. Only half a chance but could be a wake up call for Barca.

HALF-TIME: Dynamo Kyiv 0-0 Barcelona

To put it bluntly, that was incredibly boring game of football and without a doubt the worst I've watched so far this season. Credit to the home side for being well organised defensively and putting a stop to any Barcelona attack, but Koeman's team were devoid of any creativity going forward and were sloppy and lethargic on the ball, passing it around with hardly any intent. Hopefully the second half is a much more captivating watch.

45+1'

A sloppy pass from Coutinho loses Barcelona the ball in midfield and prompts a counter attack for Dynamo Kyiv. De Pena makes a great run with the ball down the left towards the byline and crosses the ball into the box but the onrushing duo of Verbic and Shaparenko failed to get a touch on it.

44'

At one point Barca seemed to be upping the ante and showing lots of attacking intent but now the game has fallen back into its original lack of intensity. They've had over 70% posession and the Kyiv are content to just let them have as much of the ball as they want and try to catch them on the break.

42'

Lenglet catches Harmash and gives away a foul in the process.

37'

Shot on target klaxon! Trincao strikes from 25 yards out but it lacked the power needed to beat Buschan and the match continues goalless.

34'

Trincao turns beautifully to make his way into the box before a coming together with Harmash puts a stop to his run. Him and his teammates appeal for a penalty but the refereee and VAR both reject those appeals.

28'

Mykolenko's header to clear is poor and falls to Coutinho who tries to curl it into the top right corner from range but his shot lacks the necessary curve inwards.

23'

Alena splits the Dynamo Kyiv defence with a pass to Junior in the left of the box and he's got space to cross or shoot but waits much too long and it's cleared for a corner.

21'

Both keepers still yet to have a save to make, as both teams struggle to get the ball into the final third.

19'

Harmash's free-kick floats in from the left and falls to Zabarnyi in the box but he's unable to control it. Verbic seizes on the loose ball but is unable to get it fully under control himself and Barca eventually clear.

Pjanic recklessly clips the back of Buyalsky's leg and gets the first yellow card of the game.

12'

Very dull start to this game with both sides lacking in intensity. Dynamo are holding their defensive shape nicely though.

11'

Pedri's pass sneaks through to Braithwaite in the box but Kedziora and Zabarnyi are quick to close him down and wrestle the ball away.

8'

Fantastic sliding block from the debutant Mingueza to prevent Verbic's shot from forcing ter Stegen into a save!

4'

It will never feel normal watching former Middlesborough flop Martin Braithwaite turn out for Barcelona. He even had the audacity to ask for the number 9 shirt after Luis Suarez's departure in September and the club obliged!

2'

Buyalsky slides in on Trincao and ends up injuring himself in the process, but he's good to carry on after shaking it off.

KICK-OFF: Barcelona's Braithwaite gets the match started!

19:54

The appointment of now 75 year-old Romanian Mircea Lucescu as Dynamo Kyiv manager in July was extremely controversial. In fact, it was so controversial he tried to resign 4 days after his appointment due to fan protests!

Why? I hear you ask. Well he spent 12 years managing their arch-rivals Shakhtar Donetsk to 8 Ukrainian league titles, 6 Ukrainian Cups, 7 Ukrainian Super Cups and a UEFA Cup trophy too.

19:48

Forget his dubious team selections and inadequate managerial achievements leading up to the Barca job, I personally lost all faith in Ronald Koeman as a manager when It witnessed him sporting footwear like this in the dugout.

Where do Koeman's loafers rank in the managerial fashion stakes compared to Pep Guardiola's turtenecks, Gareth Southgate's waistcoats or Julian Nagelsmann's eccentric suits?

19:42

Lots of annoyance on social media that even in a rotated, injury-stricken Barcelona XI Riqui Puig is still being benched by Ronald Koeman. The highly rated young centre midfielder has only played 3 minutes of football so far this season despite making 12 appearances last year.

Koeman was rumoured to have wanted him out after taking the managerial job in the summer, much to the frustration of Blaugrana fans who see him and Carles Alena as the future of their midfield.

19:19

DYNAMO KYIV TEAM NEWS

Dynamo are also hindered tonight by some key injuries such as the absence of top goalscorer Viktor Tsigankov, fellow Ukraine international Serhiy Sydorchuk and starting attacker Gerson Rodrigues to name a few.

There is still plenty of quality in their starting line-up though that features no less than 8 Ukrainian internationals and others who have capped by Poland, Slovenia and Uruguay.

The 27 year-old Vitaly Buyalsky captains the side in central midfield, while Benjamin Verbic will lead the line as part of a front free.

19:10

BARCELONA TEAM NEWS

Wow! A very different Barcelona line-up to what we normally see due to Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong being rested along with injuries to Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Ansu Fati, Samuel Umtiti, Ronald Araujo and Sergio Roberto.

The most notable inclusion in the youthful starting XI, however, is 21 year-old centre back Oscar Mingueza who will be making his first-team debut after being promoted from the B team due to the current injury crisis.

Elsewhere on the pitch, the much-maligned Martin Braithwaite leads the line with support behind from Pedri, Philippe Coutinho and Trincao.

Good evening and welcome to our live text coverage of the Champions League Group G match between Dynamo Kyiv and Barcelona!

When they met at the Camp Nou earlier this month Barca ran out 2-1 winners and they'll be hoping to do the double on their Ukrainian counterparts tonight by winning the return leg in Kyiv. Currently the Catalan side are top of the group on 9 points, while Dynamo are third on just 1.

We will be bringing you all the build-up, highlights and talking points from the match tonight, so stay tuned ahead of kick-off at 20:00.
