Good attempted cross from Oxlade-Chamberland but Nacho on the stretch heads away in front of Salah.
Salah is played in by Thiago but from a narrow angle Courtois blocks his attempt to centre.

It really has been a fantastic defensive display from Real Madrid tonight.

Great defending from Milner to race back and deny Benzema a chance to convert from close range after Mendy pulled back towards the French marksman.

Wonderful ball from Alexander-Arnold with the outside of his right foot picking out Firmino whose low shot is well struck but straight at Courtois.
Real get us back underway...
An impressive performance from Liverpool and they should have at least halved the deficit but as it is they still have it all to do in the second half.
A powerful run from Alexander-Arnold into the box, he gets a bit lucky as the ball ricochets back for him and he then tees the ball up for Wijnaldum who should have done better than fire over the bar.
Lovely turn from Wijnaldum then a good pass for Mane who squares to Salah but he fires over the bar.
Great defending from Nacho stopping Mane's left wing cross on the stretch in front of Salah.
Alexander-Arnold puts in a lovely inswinging ball to the far post but it is just too far ahead of Mane.
Lovely bit of skill from Vinicus clipping the ball over Kabak and running around him but could not get a ball across to Benzema.
The pace in the game has lessened now with a lot of play between the penalty areas.
Great chace on the break for Liverpool but Firmino telegraphs his pass to Alexander-Arnold and Mendy intercepts
Just a yellow card it is and Robertson gets a booking as well for piling into Casemiro after the foul.
Casemiro took out Milner on the touchline very late. He is getting a yellow card and there is a red card check.
1-0 to Dortmund in the other game so at present Chelsea will be the only English representatives in the semi-finals.
Off the post! Benzema nicks the ball off Phillips and then teases Kabak before hitting a cross that deflected off the Reds defender and hits the near post.
Robertson curls in a free kick from the right flank that Kabak meets but can't divert on target.
Great effort from Milner, curling an effort towards the top corner from 25 yards out but Courtois tips over the bar.
Modric was given an age to cross after collecting a short corner but no Real player could get a decent connection on a header.
Modric has Real's first shot in anger which is deflected wide of the target.
A short corner to Milner caught Madrid sleeping but the Liverpool skipper couldn't get a good contact on his effort.
This is the old heavy metal Liverpool we are seeing here.
Mane nutmegs Valverde then plays a low ball behind the defence that just eludes Firminho in the middle and then Salah's effort is blocked at the far post.
Long ball down the middle finds Mane behind the defence, he squares to Salah and his effort was saved by Courtois' legs. What a chance.
Strong challenge from Milner on Benzema and he needs some treatment. Could easily have got a yellow card for that.

So Liverpool start with the same side who beat Aston Villa, thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury-time strike, meaning Thiago has to settle for a place on the bench.
