A slick Ajax move down the left completely opens the home side up. Neres charges on to a lay off in the box but chooses the shot from a narrow angle that fizzes into the side netting. A cut back seemed the obvious choice there.

STAT: Liverpool's defeat against Atalanta ended a run of eight consecutive games without defeat in the CL group stage (W7 D1), while the Reds have only once previously lost consecutive group games in the competition under Klopp (in November 2018).

The Dutch side have dominated the last five-10 minutes and seem to be growing in confidence.

Indeed, the Merseysiders are unbeaten in the last 14 games against Dutch opponents since the 5-1 defeat to Ajax in 1965.

STAT: Dusan Tadic has created the joint-most chances following ball carries in the UEFA Champions League this season. The Ajax captain has six to his name, level with Jadon Sancho and Kinglsey Coman.

Klopp on Alisson: "Alisson doesn't have COVID. He told us after the (Brighton) game he felt the hamstring after 60-70 minutes of the last game. He's had a scan, a little one (injury), but enough for today and probably another week."


Erik ten Hag, Ajax coach: "We should be even more courageous [than the last time we played them], because then there would have been more in it. We created opportunities but we did not finish them. But I think we would have had even more opportunities if we had acted more courageously."

PERMUTATIONS (via UEFA): So, we know Liverpool will go through if they avoid defeat, but the Reds could also be confirmed as group winners if they defeat Ajax and Atalanta do not beat Midtjylland. Midtjylland will finish fourth. No other issues can be settled.
