FT

The full-time whistle goes and Manchester City will take a 2-1 lead and two away goals back to England for the second leg.

93'

De Bruyne arrows in a shot from range and City will have a late corner as it took a slight touch on its way through.

92'

This really has been a terrific game, dominated by PSG in the first half and then flipped on its head by City in the second.

90'

There will be four minutes of added time at the end of this game. Another goal now would give the tie a completely different feel going into the second leg.

87'

Foden waves his way through the PSG defence but can’t find the finish to complete what would have been brilliant individual goal.

86'

De Bruyne goes in late on Danilo and the referee is crowded by the PSG players calling for a red. It’s not though, and a yellow is shown to the Belgian.

85'

Mbappe has a rare chance on the break and looks to feed the wide-open Neymar, but his pass is way too soft and is cut out. That pretty much sums up PSG’s second half.

84'

Mahrez drills a shot wide. PSG are struggling to even get a touch now, they look spent.

82'

Rodri bursts around the outside of the PSG defence and clips in a cross, but nobody had made the run. There’s a chance here for City to take complete control of this tie, another goal would leave them clear favourites to reach the final.

80'

Pochettino responds to the sending off and sacrifices Di Maria for Danilo.

78'

Gundogan is still receiving treatment after that, he might not be able to continue.

  • Idrissa Gueye
Red cardIdrissa GueyeParis Saint-GermainHe’s off! Gueye goes in hard and late on Gundogan and is shown a straight red. He dived in late the PSG midfielder, with his studs raised, and he caught Gundogan too. PSG will play the rest of this game with 10 men.

76'

Close to a third for City as Foden flicks a backward header on target. It’s been a brilliant response from the visitors to their first-half shoeing, and they look the likelier side now to add further goals to their lead.

74'

Neymar shows his frustration at how this game has unravelled for PSG and goes in late on Dias. It wasn’t much but it’s a booking.

  • Riyad Mahrez
GoalRiyad MahrezManchester CityGOOOAAALLL!!! Riyad Mahrez picks out a hole in the PSG wall and curls a free-kick past Navas. This time it’s the Paris goalkeeper who’s casting angry glances at his defenders – that wall was a shambles. It’s 2-1 and the City comeback is complete.

68'

Paredes hacks down Foden and picks up a booking. It’s been a complete role reversal in this second half: it’s City who are running the show now and PSG left chasing shadows.

  • Kevin De Bruyne
GoalKevin De BruyneManchester CityGOOOAAALLL!!! Manchester City are level as the PSG defenders stare accusatorily at goalkeeper Keylor Navas. It was Kevin de Bruyne’s in-swinging cross that did the damage, with the stopper waiting for a touch that never came, allowing the ball to curl all the way through into the far corner. 1-1!

63'

That’s brilliant football from Manchester City, who open up PSG and work Walker into space down the right, only for Marquinhos to read the cross and clear behind to deny City an equaliser.

61'

Guardiola decides not to take any further risks with the booked Cancelo and replaces him at left-back with Zinchenko.

60'

A spectacular overhead kick from De Bruyne whistles narrowly over the bar. That’s class.

59'

That’s sharp from Ederson. A long ball forward is aimed towards Mbappe, but the City keeper charges out of his box to clear.

56'

Brilliant from Mbappe! The PSG forward jinks to the byline and hammers a ball across the face of goal that Verratti is inches away from turning home.

PARIS, FRANCE - APRIL 28: Angel Di Maria of Paris Saint-Germain is challenged by Joao Cancelo of Manchester City during the UEFA Champions League Semi Final First Leg match between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City at Parc des Princes on April 28, 2
54'

Neymar is dragged back by Rodri and wins a free-kick to relieve some of the building pressure. City have found their foothold in this game finally and it’s very evenly-balanced now.

50'

This is so much better from City. Guardiola’s side are looking much more like their usual selves since the restart, stroking it around nicely in midfield and forcing PSG onto the back foot.

48'

City have started the second half brightly with De Bruyne twice getting crosses away, the second of which takes a deflection back off him to give PSG a chance to clear their lines.

  • 2nd Half
45'

City get the game back underway with both teams unchanged.

HT

That’s the end of a breathless first half in Paris. It’s 1-0 to the home side at the break and they’ve been well worth their lead. City have work to do. Catch you in 15.

44'

Cancelo is on a booking and lunges in on Mbappe. It’s a huge risk but he times it just right and wins the ball. You fancy that the forward will have another go down that flank though, with Cancelo walking a bit of a tightrope.

42'

That’s the chance for City. PSG give the ball away and City work it brilliantly to Foden on the edge of the box. He has time to pick his spot, but hammers it too close to Navas and the keeper makes the save.

40'

Neymar goes down in the box and screams for a penalty. VAR is going to take a look at the incident, but there really wasn’t much in it. Remarkably it was Mahrez back alongside Stones in his own six-yard box.

38'

De Bruyne looks to spark a City revival with a moment of magic down the left that ends in a dangerous cross that Bakker hacks behind. PSG deal with the set-piece, but that’s at least some encouragement for City – the more De Bruyne can get on the ball the more you feel they’ll be able to get a foothold in this game.

36'

I can’t remember City ever being made to look this pedestrian. Guardiola’s going to have to change something, his midfield are being completely overrun and the visitors are very fortunate that it is just 1-0.

34'

Di Maria bursts through midfield and only a heavy pass prevents him from setting up Neymar with a golden chance. PSG are running this game right now.

33'

The press from PSG is so intense and this time it’s De Bruyne who is swarmed off the ball by a trio of Paris players. Mbappe finds Bakker in the resulting move, but the full-back’s shot is blocked.

31'

That’s good from City as Mahrez heads back across goal towards Silva. Paredes does well to hook clear with a challenge that has City claiming for a high boot, but VAR says play on.

28'

So close to a second! This time it’s Neymar who delivers the corner and Paredes fires his header fractionally wide.

26'

Di Maria whips in another peach of a corner and Ederson scrambles it away with a punch.

25'

City are really struggling to get a grip on this game. If he had hair then Pep would be tearing it out on the touchline – this is exactly the sort of situation he detests, seeing his team outshone on the ball.

22'

Rodri is pressed on the ball and is slightly fortunate to be saved by the referee’s whistle as Verratti emerges with the ball. It’s such a good game this, the quality is remarkably high.

20'

That’s more like it from City. A clipped ball over the top finds Silva, who somehow gets a shot away from an extremely narrow angle, denied by a combination of Navas and the post.

17'

It’s been a brilliant start by PSG and so far it’s Pochettino who is winning the tactical battle (admittedly with a very long time left in the tie). City are being denied control in midfield and the width that the hosts are attacking with is forcing Foden and Mahrez to track back more than they’d like.

  • Marquinhos
GoalMarquinhosParis Saint-GermainGOOOAAALLL!!! PSG take the lead and it’s Marquinhos who’s got it. Di Maria’s delivery from the corner was superb, and the Brazilian made a good run across the front post to glance a header across the keeper and into the far corner. It’s a good goal and a deserved lead for the hosts on the balance of play. 1-0.

13'

PSG worry City twice in quick succession as Paredes and then Neymar get shots away on the edge of the box. The Brazilian’s effort in particular had Ederson scrambling.

10'

Paredes catches Walker in the unmentionables on the follow-through. It’s a painful one but nothing more than that.

6'

It’s been a fascinating start to the game, with the two teams probing and testing each other out in midfield.

5'

Gundogan looks for Mahrez with a tricky threaded-pass, but it’s slightly overhit.

3'

An early warning for City as they give the ball away in midfield and PSG leap into action, with Mbappe finding Neymar who tests Ederson with the first attempt of the game.

PSG, kitted out in their usual dark blue with red and white detailing, get the game underway.

Here we go then, the two teams emerge from the tunnel in Paris. Over a billion pounds worth of transfer fees have been spent by these two clubs on the 22 starting players this evening. Obscene really and probably an indication of the troubling route that football has taken over the last decade, but it does underline just how much quality is going to be on the field.

Of course tonight is also Poch vs Pep. The last time these two managers met in Europe it produced an absolutely legendary tie as Spurs stunned City en-route to the final.

City make four changes from the team that outclassed Tottenham in the League Cup final on Sunday, with Ederson, John Stones, Rodri and Bernardo Silva replacing Zack Steffen, Aymeric Laporte, Fernandinho and Raheem Sterling.

The big team news for PSG is that Kylian Mbappe, who hobbled off against Metz on Saturday, is fit to start. So too is centre-back and captain Marquinhos, who has passed a late fitness test.

19:00

Good evening. It’s quite the game this evening, as the mega-rich Manchester City visit the equally flush Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. I’ll save all of the important and necessary conversations about sports washing and the ethics of state-owned clubs for more qualified people to discuss – tonight let’s focus on enjoying watching two of the most entertaining teams in Europe take each other on.
