Elsewhere in this group, Leipzig struck late to win a rollercoaster affair 4-3 at İstanbul Başakşehir in the earlier kick off. Group H as it stands: United 9 pts, Leipzig 9pts, PSG 6pts, Istanbul 3 pts.
Donny van de Beek, who is on the bench again tonight: “We are playing one of the European giants. We know we are in for a tough task, but we know what is at stake. We want to go far in this competition and we need to get through the group stages first and foremost. We need to keep that in our minds and do everything we can to win this game.”
Tuchel on Mbappe not scoring in the CL for almost a year: "I've heard about this statistic/ It may be a good opportunity to end to this period. This may be one of the reasons why we only have six points. I can't explain it because he has the quality, the personality and the experience to be decisive."
Thomas Tuchel: "This game is like a final at Old Trafford. I really feel we are not here to find excuses. It is up to us to show the best possible things, to win. It is possible, although it is a big challenge."
Paper round: OGS was asked about United's transfer plans in his pre-match press conference. He said: “Let's see where we're at in January. Hopefully we can keep on improving. I've got selection issues already, so I'm very happy with what's happening behind closed doors."
More from Solskjaer: "Our mindset is win this game and we've won the group. The quicker you can qualify the better, of course. With a win, we'll win the group, so that's our intent. We want to go out there in our style, attacking intent, defending well against a top team with some top individual players, of course."
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Cavani: “He’s ready to play and of course it’s special for him to play against PSG, his old club where he is the top scorer, so that will affect him mentally. But from knowing him, that will give him energy.”
It's four changes for PSG following their 2-2 draw with Bordeaux. Keylor Navas is back between the sticks. Marquinhos and Abdou Diallo come into the centre of the defence with Danilo Pereira in the midfield. A pair of former United stars in the shape of Angel di Maria and Ander Herrera are on the bench.
