I said it before, but Pogba was absolutely dreadful in the first half. Maybe he's mentally checked out of United, but even so, is professional pride should have him playing better than that.

Atalanta send Djimsiti on for Pasalic; he goes to right centre-back, with De Roon moving into his usual midfield position.

That was a fun half. Atalanta had the better of it, but you just can't argue with the class of United's best players.

It really is remarkable how good Fernandes is at making goals happen.

United really have been rotten since going behind, but they've just got so many brilliant and intelligent players that it's very hard to shut them out entirely. Even against Liverpool, they made proper chances.

Pogba has been dreadful so far, and he tries a crossfield pass to no one, picking out Maehle. If only he had the intensity to match his talent.

Elsewhere, Villarreal lead Young Boys 1-0. United badly need a point tonight.

Better from United, Shaw, Rashford and Bruno triangulating down the left. But when Bruno crosses, he's only got Ronaldo in the box, so one of the 73 defenders surrounding him clears.

A bit of possession for United. It's too slow, but it's more than they've had in the last 15 or so minutes.

Greenwood pokes a poor pass to no one and Zapata intercepts, driving away from Pogba, but Bailly is in again to tackle. He's had a good half, and not many United players can say that.

Greenwood replaces Varane. United should be more of a threat, but there's not much ballast there now.

Varane has gone to sit down; United are going to bring on Greenwood and revert to their 4-2-3-1.

We see the penalty shout again; De Roon flicked onto Bruno's hand, but he was looking the other way and far too close to be penalised.

United are tottering here, and Pogba gives it away again, Ilicic breaking and it's four on four! But again, Bailly gets back to challenge, conceding a corner which comes to nowt. Atalanta want a penalty - I didn't see the ball hit a hand when it came across - and I don't think they're getting it, but then Varane goes down. If he's injured, United are in big trouble.

United looked so much better with Cavani up alongside Ronaldo. The way they are now, Rashford is playing left-midfield and their centre-forward is isolated.

Pogba hangs onto possession far too long, giving it away to Koppmeiners and all of a sudden Zapata is in! The ball's bouncing high, and the time it takes to come down allows Bailly to leap in and challenge, blocking behind - that's excellent work - and there's a quick penalty check, but nothing doing. Again, we're not allowed to see, and Koopmeniners' corner sails behind.
