- GoalReece JamesChelsea
GOAL! James chests a deep cross from the left into his own path and fizzes a brilliant strike beyond the keeper.
SAVE! Silva meets James's left-wing free kick but glances his header too close to Szczesny.
VIDEO: Silva's first-half clearance.
De Ligt needs to make an important block to deny Hudson-Odoi. Chelsea almost strike again from another corner but a deflection takes a header wide. The visitors have been rather vulnerable at set pieces all night long.
Can Juventus change the narrative here or are Chelsea set to get the win that will not only see them reach the last 16, but also put them firmly in the hunt to finish top of the group?

- End of 1st Half
HT: Chelsea 1-0 Juventus.
Juventus end the half strongly. Bentancur takes aim from 25 yards but curves just wide of the top corner.
Two minutes added.
Chelsea have been well worth their first-half lead and could be even further ahead of they had made more of their set-piece situations.
Great defending! Bonucci surges across to deny Hudson-Odoi what would surely have been a second goal after he made a lovely run from the left to dash on to Jorginho's clipped pass.
- OffN'Golo KantéChelsea
- OnRuben Loftus-CheekChelsea
CHELSEA CHANGE: Kante goes off injured. Loftus-Cheek on.
SUPER SAVE! Szczesny flings himself to his right to get a fingertip to James' low strike from the far side of the area. Rudiger meets the resulting corner but guides his header wide.
VIDEO: Chelsea open the scoring.
There was a VAR check on that Chelsea goal but the update to the rule means it rightly stands.
An incredible clearance! Thiago Silva charges back towards his own goal-line and hooks it to safety after Morata had raced into the box and lifted a lobbed shot beyond Mendy.
- GoalTrevoh ChalobahChelsea
GOAL! The hosts have the breakthrough. Juventus fail to deal with another corner and Chalobah is able to turn and rifle a shot into the back of the net.
James goes direct for goal from the left-wing free kick and almost catches the keeper out at the near post. Szczesny does get there though and is able to beat it to safety.
- Yellow cardJuan CuadradoJuventus
Cuadrado is booked for hooking down Hudson-Odoi after the Chelsea man had looked set to wriggle free down the left.
Rudiger ghosts into space on the left but drags a miscued shot right across the face of goal.
Chelsea are still the side on the front foot despite a slight improvement from Juventus. Not much for either keeper to do so far though.
UEFA STAT: Juventus have won each of their last three away games against English opponents in the UEFA Champions League, beating Manchester City in 2015 and Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in 2018. If they win this game, they will become the first team to win four consecutive away games against English opponents in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League.
Juventus are not defending corners well. Cuadrado rushes a clearance behind after a left-wing delivery had somehow been left to fly right across the six-yard box without being turned home. The corner from the right is just missed by the head of Chilwell and Chalobah can only nudge wide after being surprised it made its way to him.
UEFA STAT: Chelsea's last 10 games against Italian opponents in the UEFA Champions League have seen the Blues record only one victory (D3 L6), beating Napoli 4-1 in March 2012. They've failed to keep a clean sheet in all 10 games in this run, conceding 21 goals in total.
It's been all Chelsea early doors. Juventus have barely made it out of their own half.
Juventus clear the resulting corner but Chelsea come again. Chilwell does connect with an effort this time but his long-range strike is way off target.
CHELSEA CHANCE! Kante drives in from the right side towards the byline. He clips a ball into the danger zone but Chilwell somehow misses his kick and the visitors scramble it clear.
UEFA STAT: Since beating Juventus in the first ever meeting between the two clubs (1-0 in the UEFA Champions League in February 2009), Chelsea are winless in their last four games against the Italian side in European competition (D2 L2).
- 1st Half
KICK OFF! Chelsea get us underway.
DID YOU KNOW? In the opening four matchdays of this season's UEFA Champions League, Chelsea have conceded the fewest goals (1), shots (18) and shots on target (3) of any team. They also have the lowest expected goals against total (2.1) in the competition this term.
As for Juventus, they also make two changes from the 2-0 success over Lazio at the weekend. Alex Sandro and Rodrigo Bentancur come in.
Let’s take a closer look at those line-ups, starting with Chelsea. The Blues make two changes from the win at Leicester with Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic getting the nod to start. Romelu Lukaku is on the bench for the first time since picking up an injury against Malmo on October 20.
High praise indeed.
Matthijs de Ligt: "Playing at Stamford Bridge is a great thrill. We have to be compact, Chelsea are a strong team on the counterattack. It will be a tough match, but we will remain calm on the pitch." He added: “We understand that Juve need to have the spirit of knowing how to suffer and wanting to die on the pitch, and I think that with Fiorentina and Lazio we have shown it."
Trevoh Chalobah: “Thiago Silva was one of my idols growing up as a kid, and with how successful he’s been. It’s great sharing the pitch and training sessions with him. For me as a young player he is someone I need to look at for where I want to be, and where I want to go to. Antonio [Rudiger] has been a very big mentor for me since I first came here. He took me in and helped me in training sessions. When I went out on loan, he told me what was needed. Now it’s good to share the same pitch with him.”
Massimiliano Allegri: "We need to improve our conversion rate. We create important situations but we are still making mistakes in the final third."
More from Thomas Tuchel: "We will not risk our qualification and go all in if the situation is like this, but we will try everything to win the game and the group and to do this, we have to win the game."
VIDEO: Tuchel on Rudiger's future
