Aston Villa are rumoured to be eyeing a shock move to hire Thierry Henry as their new manager after Nassef Sawiris bought a controlling stake in the club.
The Egyptian billionaire and co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks NBA Franchise, Wes Edens, bought a 55% stake from Chairman Dr Tony Xia on Friday, and are said to be considering replacing manager Steve Bruce.
On Saturday, reports emerged that former Arsenal legend and Belgium's assistant coach Henry could be in the frame for the top job.
The reports came as Henry announced he would step down from his role as a Sky Sport pundit to concentrate on fulfilling his ambition to follow a managerial career.
Villa's financial issues came to light after the club failed to secure promotion back into the Premier League last season, after dropping down to the Championship in 2016. The promotion would have been worth over £160 million.
The club announced on Friday that Xia would become co-chairman and remain on the board.
