Jack Grealish won the hearts of football fans after refusing to react to an abhorrent act of violence during Aston Villa’s clash with rivals Birmingham City – and then scoring the winning goal.

The Villa captain was punched in the head by a spectator during the first half of the Second City derby on Sunday.
Undeterred, the 23-year-old produced a memorable performance at St Andrew’s, capping it with the game’s only goal on 67 minutes as he rushed to the visiting fans to celebrate.
Social media applauded:
However, not everyone empathised with Grealish. The pitch invader was cheered by some ‘supporters’ inside the stadium as he was led away, blowing kisses to the crowd.
And then, when Grealish ran over to the Villa fans to celebrate his goal, a steward appeared to strike out at him – with TV footage showing police officers leading him down the tunnel.
Finally, albeit obviously accidentally, the EFL released a statement that said it "condoned" the violence.
The statement was later amended to say "condemned".
