Real Madrid have been forced to extra-time by Kashima Antlers in the Club World Cup final.
The European champions and Liga leaders took the lead in the ninth minute through Karim Benzema, who slotted home after Luka Modric’s volley was saved by the Japan side’s goalkeeper Hitoshi Sogahata.
But the J-League champions and host nation’s entrant to the competition fought back with a double from Gaku Shibasaki.
Ronaldo levelled for Zinedine Zidane’s side with a penalty in the 60th minute but despite openings for both teams late on, the tie went to extra-time.
