The season comes to an end for Barcelona and Lucho has a trophy to show for his final campaign in charge of the Catalan club. Alaves gave a decent account of themselves, but in the end they just didn't have the quality to comeback from the two goals scored against them just before the half time break. Messi was excellent.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Barcelona 3-1 Alaves. BARCELONA ARE THE 2016/17 COPA DEL REY WINNERS!
OH DEAR! Barcelona were looking for the perfect goal, with Messi feeding Busquets, who in turn tried to play it to Neymar at the far post. But he really should have gone for goal himself.
The celebrations have begun among the Barcelona fans inside the Vicente Calderon. 'Campeones,' they're singing, following that chant up with an ovation for Lucho down on the touchline.
Three minutes of stoppage time to be played before full time.
Alaves are desperate for a goal that would at least give them a chance in the final few minutes of stoppage time, but they simply don't have the cutting edge to harm Barcelona.
- Yellow cardDeyversonDeportivo Alavés
Deyverson enters the book after catching Iniesta with a stray arm. Was that an accident?
There will likely be a number of changes at Barcelona over the summer. Valverde is expected to be named the new manager next week. Then work in the transfer market will begin.
This will be the perfect sendoff for Lucho. This is of course his final game in charge of Barcelona. It hasn't been the greatest of seasons for the Catalans, but this will be a nice way to end it.
Of course, Vidal missed much of the 2016/17 season with a really bad knee injury and so Lucho is quite clearly rewarding him for enduring such a tough recovery from that.
- OffIvan RakiticFC Barcelona
- OnAleix VidalFC Barcelona
Vidal comes on for the final seven minutes of the match. This is a nice touch from Barcelona.
The final ball from Alaves hasn't been good enough in this second half. Barcelona haven't even had to play that well since the restart. The have held the opposition at arm's length.
- OffTheo HernandezDeportivo Alavés
- OnÓscar RomeroDeportivo Alavés
Alaves make their final change with Romero coming on. Time is running out for them.
- Yellow cardRubén SobrinoDeportivo Alavés
... and one for Sobrino as well, who was the one who pushed Nyemar in the first place.
- Yellow cardAndrés IniestaFC Barcelona
There's also a booking for Iniesta...
- Yellow cardLionel MessiFC Barcelona
Messi is indeed shown a yellow card for his protests of that incident involving Neymar.
Well, it looks like there was a push into the back of Neymar, but there wasn't any contact with the Brazilian's face. Messi is incensed by that incident. Looks like he might get a booking.
What has gone on there? Neymar has gone down inside the Alaves penalty area off the ball. The Brazilian is holding his face. Was there a flailing limb somewhere? Replays aren't very clear.
This is quite impressive from Alaves. Out of nowhere, they are now giving this a real go and giving Barcelona something to think about. The Catalans don't look so solid at the back.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAA.... it won't count. Deyverson has the ball in the back of the Barcelona net, but it is chalked off for offside. It was the correct decision by the linesman.
CILLESSEN GETS A FOOT TO IT! Alaves are putting the pressure on Barcelona, with Deyverson toe-poking a shot towards the near post, but the keeper scrambled it off the line.
WHAT A CHANCE! A long throw in into the Barcelona penalty area falls to Sobrino about 10 yards out, but his shot was poor and the block is made. It was going over the crossbar.
Alaves are struggling to make an impression on this game now, particularly in the attacking third. Barcelona are suffocating things, keeping their play nice and simple in the centre.
INIESTA FIRES OVER! Messi drops all the way to the halfway line to pick up the ball, feeding it to Iniesta. But the Barcelona playmaker could only send his effort over the crossbar.
The Barcelona anthem rings around the Vicente Calderon. It hasn't been the greatest season for the Catalans, but they are 25 minutes away from winning the Copa del Rey.
Is there any way back for Alaves? I get the feeling that if they are to stand any chance they need to score one soon. Set pieces might be their best opportunity to get a second.
The flow of the match has disrupted somewhat by the changes made by Alaves, but Barcelona are starting to crank up the pressure again. They want to really turn the screw.
That was very nearly a hairy moment for Barcelona! The back pass to Cillessen was a little short, with Sobrino chasing it down, but the keeper came off his line to clear out of play.
- OffIbai GómezDeportivo Alavés
- OnRubén SobrinoDeportivo Alavés
And there's a second change from Alaves, with Gomez coming off for Sobrino.
- OffEdgarDeportivo Alavés
- OnVíctor CamarasaDeportivo Alavés
Here's the first change of the match and Edgar comes off to be replaced by Camarasa.
That was close to a fourth goal for Barcelona. Gomes got down the right side and played a great ball into the box for Alcacer, but the pass was cut out before it could reach the striker.
This is exhibition stuff from Barcelona now. They are toying with Alaves. They have a two goal lead and they look completely relaxed with how this Copa del Rey final is going.
The Alaves players aren't happy. Iniesta goes in late on Edgar, but the Barcelona player avoids a yellow card. Alaves feel that the referee is being unduly harsh on them.
Alaves need to keep the ball better. Barcelona have come out for this second half looking to put the game to bed. The underdogs are struggling to make possession stick.
BIG STOP! Messi surges away from his marker and plays an excellent ball to the back post for Alcacer. The striker stretches to send a shot towards goal, but Pacheco makes the save.
- Yellow cardRodrigo ElyDeportivo Alavés
That's a soft yellow card for Ely. He appeared to win the header cleanly.
Messi probably should have seen a yellow card for that tackle on Garcia. The Barcelona number 10 was late in on the Alaves player, but the referee decides not to book him.
NOT A BAD EFFORT! The freekick was about 30 yards out, but Gomez took it on nonetheless. He got some amount of power on the strike, but Cillessen watched it flash high and wide.
Messi was quiet for the opening 20 minutes or so of the match, but he grew into the half and by the half time whistle was the most influental player on the pitch. Great performance.
Is there any way back for Alaves? They had their moments in the first half, but Barcelona just had the quality to cut through them. It will take an almighty effort to get back into this.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way at the Vicente Calderon! Barcelona have a 3-1 lead over Alaves.
What did you make of the first half at the Vicente Calderon? Will Barcelona really stretch their legs and their advantage after the break? What do Alaves need to do to mount a comeback? Tweet me!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Barcelona 3-1 Alaves. A really compelling contest so far, with Barcelona holding a two-goal advantage after the opening 45 minutes. Can Alaves hit back for a second and third time?
- GoalPaco AlcácerFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 3 (48 mins - Paco Alcacer) Alaves 1. What a run and pass from Messi! Barcelona have a two goal advantage, with Alcacer slotted in behind the Alaves defence before spinning and finishing past Pacheco in the Alaves goal.
Three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the first half.
- GoalNeymarFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 2 (45 mins - Neymar) Alaves 1. Barcelona cut open the Alaves defence with an excellent passing move. Messi plays the ball out to the right for Gomes, who slips the pass to the back post for Neymar to finish into the empty net from close range.
Cillessen had to punch that corner kick from Gomez clear. He got enough on it to release the pressure on the Barcelona goal, but the Dutchman hasn't been all that convincing so far.
- Yellow cardSamuel UmtitiFC Barcelona
That's a clash of heads of Umtiti sees yellow for his efforts. He seems confused by that.
NOT FAR WIDE! That was close to a second Barcelona goal. Rakitic took aim from about 20 yards out, with Pacheco scarmbling to get there, but it flashes wide of the post.
The contrast between the two sets of supporters inside the Vicente Calderon is stark. One side is nervous, on the edge of their seats, while the other side is partying, bouncing around.
- Yellow cardManu GarciaDeportivo Alavés
There's another booking, with Garcia seeing yellow for a late tackle on Iniesta. That was a bad one.
We have a real cup tie on our hands now. Barcelona are back in control of possession, but there is a feeling that Alaves can cause them damage on the rapid counter attack.
Well, that wasn't in the script. I think we all expected Barcelona to stretch their legs and sprint away from Alaves after the opener, but that was an unstoppable strike from Theo.
- GoalTheo HernandezDeportivo Alavés
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 Alaves 1 (33 mins - Theo Hernandez). Wow, wow, wow! What a strike from the teenager! Theo lins up the freekick from just outside the box and finds the top corner of the Barcelona net with a sensational shot. No chance for Cillessen.
Alaves had looked fairly settled and well organised at the back until that goal. But that's what Barcelona can do to you. They have the quality to pick you off at any given moment.
- GoalLionel MessiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 (31 mins - Lionel Messi) Alaves 0. There's the opener and what an opener it is! The one two between Neymar and Messi was brilliant, and the Argentine sweeps home a right footed finish from 20 yards out. Great finish!
That was a massive let off for Barcelona. Cillessen really didn't look too certain when he was asked to make that save. The Dutch keeper comes in for the cup competitions, remember.
DEFLECTION! That was almost an opener for Barcelona. Iniesta's shot took a big deflection off Neymar, but Pacheco readjusted and managed to make the save with his legs.
HOW DIDN'T THAT GO IN?! Gomez makes the most of a mistake from Pique, striking at goal from just inside the box. But it hit the box, dribbled across the line and couldn't be squeezed in.
Messi is beginning to have an influence on this game. With Alcacer playing as an out and out number nine, the Argentine is playing in a deep role. He's tredding on Iniesta's toes.
Barcelona are unhappy with some of the tackles coming in from the Alaves players. Indeed, they have been firm in the challenge. Walking in the line, in some cases.
This pitch has been wattered way too much. Players on both sides are slipping about all over the place. They still haven't come to terms with it yet. New studs needed, perhaps?
Messi has yet to get involved in the game. The Argentine is actually drifting wide to receive the ball, but that seems to be infringing on the area of the pitch Neymar is positioned in.
The balance needs to be struck from an Alaves perspective between being too agressive and being too passive. Edgar crossed that line there. He needs to be careful.
- Yellow cardEdgarDeportivo Alavés
There's the first yellow card of the match and that was an easy call for the referee to make. Umtiti isn't happy.
It looks like Gomes will simply play the same role that Mascherano was playing, which means Barcelona are now using an attacking midfielder as a right wing back. Unique.
That could well be the last time we see Mascherano in a Barcelona shirt. He is expected to leave the club this summer. That would be a sad way for him to end things with the Catalans.
- OffJavier MascheranoFC Barcelona
- OnAndré GomesFC Barcelona
Indeed, Mascherano is going to have to come off for Barcelona here and he will be replaced by Gomes.
HEAD KNOCK! That's a sore one for both Mascherano and Llorente, but it's the Barcelona player who has come off worse. The Argentine has blood pouring from his head. Oh dear.
There is a sense that after a strong start to the match by Alaves, Barcelona are now starting to take a grip of things. The underdogs are slipping deeper and deeper into their own half.
The playing surface might actually be a little too slick. I know I said it was in excellnt condition just a few moments ago, but that was before Pique and Iniesta slipped hard on it.
JUST PAST THE POST! The pass from Messi in behind the Alaves backline was sensational, with Alba getting on the end of it. But his stooped header bounces just past the far post.
The playing surface looks excellent, and that will surely suit Barcelona. They are already trying to take a grip of the game, knocking the ball around the defence and the midfield areas.
Mascherano will be tested at right back. I can't ever remember the Argentine playing there before for Barcelona, but injuries have forced Lucho's hand. He is a square peg in a round hole.
This has been an excellent start to the match by Alaves, with Gomez driving forward into the Barcelona box. They have put down a marker in these opening few minutes. They will attack.
There's no Suarez for Barcelona this evening and so Alcacer is playing in his place. The frontman will be flanked by Messi and Neymar. Elsewhere, Barca are at full strength, pretty much.
Of course, this isn't just Lucho's farewell, but the Vicente Calderon's farewell. This will the last match played at the old venue before Atletico Madrid move to their new stadium on the outskirts.
Alaves are underdogs for this one, but they have shown themselves to be an excellent cup team this season. They can cause anyone problems on their day. Will this be their day?
And so Lucho's final game in charge of Barcelona is under way. The Catalans have endured a difficult season, but this is a chance to end the campaign with a piece of silverware.
