Real Madrid will probably be the happier of the two teams after that. Malcom was impressive for Barcelona, but in the end a poor first half showing hindered the Catalans, who have some work to do at the Santiago Bernabeu if they are to make the Copa del Rey final once again.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Barcelona 1-1 Real Madrid
How hasn't Ramos been sent off? The Real Madrid captain once again evades a second booking. This time he throws Suarez to he deck, but the referee keeps his cards in his pocket.
Is there a winner left in this game? Barcelona will want a lead to take the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg even though their away record against Real Madrid is pretty good.
Just three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- Yellow cardArturo VidalFC Barcelona
That's a late, late tackle from Vidal on Casemiro and the yellow card is flashed.
Kroos from shot! The cross from Carvajal was cleared to the edge of the box. Kroos came on to it nicely, but the block is made by Pique to stop the German from passing into the net.
Bale is starting to make an impression on this game. He had done next to nothing previous to the last few minutes. Real Madrid are enjoying a decent spell of pressure here.
- OffLucas VázquezReal Madrid
- OnMarco AsensioReal Madrid
One last change for Real Madrid and it's Asensio who comes on for Vazquez.
That is why Bale still has some work to win over his doubters at the Santiago Bernabeu. At the moment, he is not a first choice player for Solari. Vinicius and Vazquez are ahead of him.
What a chance for Bale! That could, and perhaps should, have been a second for Real Madrid. Ter Stegen gets caught out of his box, Benzema passes to Bale, who scuffs his effort wide with the goal gaping.
Big penalty call! That was so clumsy from Carvajal. He didn't need to put so much pressure on Suarez as he ran into a blind corner at the byline. The referee says it's not a spot kick.
10 minues left to play in the first leg of this Copa del Rey semi finals and Barcelona are on top. Real Madrid would surely take a 1-1 draw at this stage. They are holding on a bit.
Chance for Alena! That wasn't the brightest play from Varane, who left his position to give Alena so much space. However, he got back to make the late challenge to block.
Ramos gets lucky! The Barcelona players believe that the Real Madrid captain should have been shown a second yellow for a late tackle on Arthur. They might well have a case.
It looks like Barcelona are going to make one last change here. Who could they bring on? There is some activity down on the home bench, but it's not quite clear who is getting ready.
Messi makes such a difference to this Barcelona team. As soon as he came off the bench, he started conducting things. He is the dynamo through which everything flows.
There's 18 minutes left to play at Camp Nou and it feels like Real Madrid are hanging on a little bit. They would take a 1-1 draw to take back to the Santiago Bernabeu for the return leg.
Into the wall! That wasn't the best freekick from Messi. The set piece was given the usual big build up by the Barcelona fans, but the number 10 puts his effort right into the wall.
This is a chance for Messi! It feels like Barcelona are on the rise now and they have a freekick opportunity about 20 yards out from the Real Madrid goal. We know what's coming here...
- OffViníciusReal Madrid
- OnGareth BaleReal Madrid
And a fourth change in quick succession, with Bale coming on for Real Madrid.
- OffPhilippe CoutinhoFC Barcelona
- OnLionel MessiFC Barcelona
Messi is on! There's the change that the Barcelona fans had been demanding and the Argentinean comes on to replace Coutinho for the final 25 minutes of this match.
- OffMarcos LlorenteReal Madrid
- OnCasemiroReal Madrid
Real Madrid take this opportunity to make a change of their own, with Casemiro coming on for the injured Llorente.
- OffIvan RakiticFC Barcelona
- OnArturo VidalFC Barcelona
Valverde makes his first change and it's Vidal who comes on for Rakitic. That's not the one the Camp Nou is waiting for.
Llorente concern! The young midfielder is down on the ground and is holding his groin. Might Real Madrid be forced into a change here? Llorente has been in excellent form of late.
Straight at Navas! Coutinho creates the space for the shot, but his effort is straight at the Real Madrid goalkeeper. The dynamic and complexion of this semi final has changed with that equaliser.
- Yellow cardJordi AlbaFC Barcelona
Absolute chaos in the midst of that goal. Alba has been booked for... I'm not sure. Chaos.
- GoalMalcomFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 (58 mins - Malcom) Real Madrid 1. It's an equaliser! Malcom nets it. He he has been the best Barcelona player on the pitch. Lenglet played a ball over the top for Suarez, who rounded the keeper and hit the post. The ball fell to Malcom and he lashed home the finish.
- Yellow cardLuis SuárezFC Barcelona
Suarez is shown a yellow card for dissent. He wasn't happy over the freekick Varane was awarded.
Right on cue, Messi gets sent to warm up by Valverde and that prompts a huge roar from the home fans inside Camp Nou. Barcelona need their number 10 to bail them out.
It feels like everyone inside Camp Nou has their eyes on the Barcelona bench, where Messi is still sitting. Valverde has sent the others to go warm up. Is Messi really fully fit?
Coutinho curler! How many times have we seen the Brazilian bend one from outside the box into the right-hand corner of the net? This time, Coutinho gets it wrong and the ball flies over.
So when will we see Messi? Barcelona are a completely different team with their number 10 on the pitch. They aren't playing poorly, but Messi, naturally, gives them an extra dimension.
Malcom was the danger man for Barcelona in the first half. In fact, the case could be made that this has been the Brazilian winger's best performance as a Barca player so far.
That was a sore one for Alba. He kicked the bottom of Vazquez's studs. The Barcelona left back is going to need a moment to get back to his feet, but he will be fine in the end.
Solari has sent Bale to go get warm up down the touchline. The Welsh winger has suffered injury troubles of late and has struggled to get in the team on his return to fitness.
Still no Messi... Barcelona claim that their number 10 is fit to play this match. So why hasn't Valverde thrown him on at the half time break? The Catalans need their leader here.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! Real Madrid have a 1-0 lead over Barcelona in this Copa del Rey semi final first leg.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Barcelona 0-1 Real Madrid. Vazquez's goal is the difference between the two teams at the break, but it has been quite an even match on the balance of things. Entertaining.
The camera pans to Messi on the bench. We're lead to believe that he is fit to play some of the match tonight, so might it be that we see Barcelona throw on their number 10 at the break?
Ramos gave the ball away right on the edge of their own box. His pass to Marcelo was short and Rakitic nipped in. Barcelona couldn't make the most of that opportunity, though.
Vinicius has looked his age at times this evening. His maturity has been impressive in recent weeks, but the Brazilian winger has appeared a little raw with some of his final balls.
Barcelona have had the better of the last 15 minutes. Real Madrid are still posing a threat on the counter attack, but the Catalans who are camped on the edge of the opposition box.
Coutinho has drifted through this first half. The Brazilian playmaker has struggled for form in recent weeks and months, with some even questioning whether he might leave Barcelona.
Save by Navas! Good play from Malcom to set up Suarez for the shot just inside the box. However, the Real Madrid goalkeeper dives to his right to push the effort away from goal.
Rapid Real Madrid break! Wow. Real Madrid have serious pace to burn on the counter tonight. Vinicius was through and had Benzema in behind, but the square pass was just too strong.
Off the crossbar! Inches away from being an equaliser for Barcelona. Malcom's freekick found the head of Rakitic and the Croatian's flicked effort crashes off the Real Madrid woodwork.
Blocked by Varane! That's the best move that Barcelona have put together in this first half. Malcom slotted through Semedo, who gets to the byline and crosses. Varane puts it behind.
Malcom has probably been Barcelona's most creative player in this first half so far, but there have been times when the Brazilian winger might have done more with the ball.
Pique header over! The delivery from Malcom was a good one, with Pique up from the back for the set piece. However, the centre back puts his header over the bar via a deflection.
The pace at which Real Madrid are playing is causing Barcelona real issues at the back. On the flip side, Barcelona are moving the ball too slowly and that is allowing Real Madrid to set themselves.
Against Sevilla, in the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarter final, Barcelona struggled without Messi. It seems to be the same case this evening. They are just lacking something.
Real Madrid on the break! Another dangerous attack from the away side. Vinicius fizzed the low cross into the box, but Kroos just couldn't stretch far enough to direct the shot on goal.
This has been quite a ragged performance from Barcelona so far. That isn't to say that they haven't created chances. It's just that there have also been a lot of slack passes.
The flag was actually up for that last Malcom opportunity, but the replays show that the Barcelona winger was actually on and so VAR surely would have allowed that to stand.
Malcom is through... blows it! What an opportunity for Barcelona to restore parity, with Malcom played clean through on goal by Suarez, but Navas comes off his line to make the save!
Shot from Vinicius! It's another chance for the Real Madrid winger, but Pique makes the block to deny him after Coutinho had given the ball away cheaply. Real could have had a couple here.
This has been a pretty entertaining match so far. Barcelona are now in control of the ball, but Real Madrid look pretty comfortable just soaking up the Catalans' pressure.
Real Madrid had a two-on-three! That was a missed opportunity for the away side to double their advantage. It was almost as if Benzema and Vinicius actually got in each other's way.
Vinicius is seeing plenty of the ball in these early stages of the match. Real Madrid quite clearly trust the young Brazilian, who has taken everything in his stride since being promoted from Castilla.
It's been a slow start from Barcelona. We have seen this sort of thing from them in tha Copa del Rey this season. They had to fight back from first leg deficits against both Levante and Sevilla.
- Yellow cardSergio RamosReal Madrid
There's the first yellow card of the game and it has been shown to Ramos for bringing down Semedo for a foul after a one-two with Malcom.
Real Madrid have hit a vein of form in recent weeks and much of that is down to the form of Vinicius. The teenage Brazilian has made quite the impact since coming into the team.
What a start for Real Madrid! Vazquez got his name on the score sheet, but that was a goal created by Benzema and Vinicius, who are striking up quite the relationship. Innate.
- GoalLucas VázquezReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 0 Real Madrid 1 (6 mins - Lucas Vazquez). An early goal and it's Real Madrid who have grabbed it! Vinicius curled a cross to the back post from the left wing, Benzema takes it down and then crosses for Vazquez. The winger got ahead of his man to turn the finish home from close range.
First chance of the game! Ter Stegen pulls off the save to deny Kroos. The German midfielder took aim from outside the box, but the Barcelona goalkeeper beats away the strike.
The early signs are that Rakitic will be pushing higher up the pitch than has perhaps been the case for the majority of the season so far. Barcelona need him to be in creative mode.
Vinicius was offside as he attempted to latch on to a pass over the top by Marcelo. The Brazilian has become undroppable for Real Madrid in recent weeks. He has turned around their season.
It's a full strength defensive line from Real Madrid this evening, with Marcelo and Carvajal the full backs and Ramos partnering Varane at the heart of the back four.
The Clasico rarely disappoints, so despite the fact that Messi on the bench for Barcelona this evening this promises to be quite the spectacle. Stay tuned for DRAMA!
