FULL TIME: Alcoyano 2-1 Real Madrid
INCREDIBLE! The 10 men of Alcoyano have beaten the Spanish champions!
Shot over! The ball fell to Marcelo inside the penalty area, but he sends his shot over the crossbar! That might be that! Have Alcoyano done it? Surely there's just seconds left?!
Real Madrid are pressing hard for an equaliser to send this match to a penalty shootout, but Alcoyano are holding on. Have they done enough? Are they into the round of 16?
Is there enough time for Real Madrid to find a way back into this match? This would be one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Copa del Rey.
You have to admire what Alcoyano have done here. They could have sat back and protected what they had, but they have pressed for a second since the equaliser and now they have it!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Alcoyano 2 (115 mins - Juanan) Real Madrid 1. Can you believe it?! Alcoyano have scored a late goal! 10-men Alcoyano from the fourth tier are minutes away from beating Real Madrid! Juanan nipped in at the near post and prodded home a cross! The Spanish champions are on the brink here!
On the edge of the box! Vazquez is cleaned out right on the edge of the Alcoyano penalty box. Just for a moment it looked like Real Madrid might have had a penalty.
Juan denies Marcelo! The Brazilian left back takes aim from outside the box, but the Alcoyano goalkeeper makes the diving save to prevent Real Madrid from scoring a second!
Apologies for the sporadic updates from this game. Some technical issues on our end. We're working through them. Real Madrid are pressing hard for a second goal!
SENT OFF - Ramon Lopez (Alcoyano)! The home side are going to have to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men after Lopez is shown a second yellow card for a late challenge!
The second period of extra time is under way! It's still 1-1 between Alcoyano and Real Madrid!
HT IN EXTRA TIME: Alcoyano 1-1 Real Madrid
It looks like Vazquez has moved back to right back now that Odriozola has been replaced. Of course, that is a position he has played a number of times this season.
This would be a good opportunity for Hazard to come up big for Real Madrid. The Belgian has struggled to find his best form since making the move from Chelsea.
Zidane makea a couple more changes and it's Kroos and Hazard who are introduced.
Juan has been excellent this evening. The 41-year-old goalkeeper has done all that has been asked of him. Tell you what, he's looked much more assured than Lunin at the other end!
Of course, Modric is out of contract at the end of the season, although there seems to be a quiet confidence at Real Madrid that he will put pen to paper on a new contract to extend his stay.
Modric has been in exceptional form of late. In fact, you could argue he has been in the form of his life over the past two months or so. That’s saying something for a player who has won the Ballon d’Or. Real Madrid have missed him here.
Zidane has made a change in extra time and Asensio is on for Vinicius.
PICTURE: Real Madrid despair
Zidane is surely furious with what he has seen from his players this evening. This should have been a straightforward task for the Spanish champions, but it has been anything but.
The first half of extra time is under way! It's 1-1 between Alcoyano and Real Madrid in this Copa del Rey tie!
FULL TIME: Alcoyano 1-1 Real Madrid - into extra time!
We are seconds away from extra time. Exactly whay Real Madrid didn't want. This decision from Zidane to rotate his squad has backfired. It's been a poor performance.
Is there one last chance left in this game for either side? The equaliser has actually emboldened Alcoyano. They are pressing for a second goal rather than protecting what they have.
There will be three minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match.
Scramble in the box! A Real Madrid freekick into the area causes mayhem, but Juan makes the save in the end. There was a blocked overhead effort and a penalty kick claim in there!
How didn't that go in? What a chance for Real Madrid to snatch it at the death! Juan makes a diving save to prevent Casemiro's header from finding the back of the net and Vazquez rebound effort is cleared!
Zidane’s side had been building up some momentum until the defeat to Athletic Club, but will that result and performance force the Frenchman to rotate his Real Madrid squad a bit more? Rotation hasn’t worked here!
Well, well, well. There was a sense that Alcoyano were turning the screw on Real Madrid and now they have an equaliser. How will the Spanish champions respond?
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Alcoyano 1 (82 mins - Jose Solbes) Real Madrid 1. It's an equaliser for the fourth tier side! Incredible! The flick on was made at the near post and Solbes was on hand at the back post to finish on the bounce with all the Real Madrid defenders drawn to the ball! Incredible! What a moment!
Alcoyano are definitely trying to do a bit more to test Lunin. This time the Real Madrid goalkeeper is called upon to keep a corner kick delivery out at the near post! Just about does so.
Vinicius should score! The Brazilian winger is released in on goal, he had plenty space to spring into, but Juan came miles off his line to make the save with his feet! Keeps Alcoyano in the game!
In fact, it’s not until the return of Champions League football in February that things will get really sticky for Real Madrid. They have Atalanta, Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid in successive fixtures.
After this, Real Madrid have a decent run of games. They will take on Alaves then Levante then Huesca before a home game against Valencia. There is a chance to build up some momentum.
Lunin gets lucky! The Real Madrid goalkeeper was forced to come off his line to deal with an awkward cross into the middle. Lunin wasn't too convincing but the clearance is made.
PICTURE: Militao's goal is still the difference
Alcoyano can be relatively pleased with how they have played this evening, but they have so far failed to create a clear scoring opportunity. Can they do that to force extra time?
Overhead kick! Marcelo's poor touch from a Vazquez pass sets him up for the overhead kick, but the Brazilian left back's shot is blocked by the defender. Corner kick comes to nothing.
Militao has fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid to the point where Nacho is now seen as a better option at centre back. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Brazilian defender depart.
While no incoming transfers are expected at the Santiago Bernabeu this month, there could be a few on their way out. Militao is another who has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid. Made his mark tonight.
Zidane makes his first change of the night and Benzema is on for Mariano.
Another player who could be on his way out at Real Madrid this month is Isco, although unlike Odegaard there’s no suggestion he is willing to force his way out of the club to find some game time.
Isco did his best to create a shooting opportunity on the edge of the Alcoyano penalty box, but his effort is blocked before it could even get close to Juan in the opposition goal.
It wouldn't come down! Casemiro picked out the run of Vazquez inside the opposition penalty area, but the ball just wouldn't come down for the Real Madrid winger and the tackle is made.
When will Zidane start thinking about changes? Benzema has been sent down the touchline to warm up. Could we see him introduced as Real Madrid go for the kill?
Asensio has been in good form of late. The Spain international has struggled with fitness over the last two seasons, but there are finally signs that he is starting to find his groove again for Real Madrid. Not involved tonight though.
Mariano was handed a good opportunity to show what he can do this evening, but the Spanish striker has been very quiet. Hasn't made the most of the chance Zidane afforded him.
Mariano is shown a yellow card for a foul as he tracked back.
PICTURE: Militao scored the opener
Bit shaky! Lunin got caught underneath a corner kick delivery into the box, but the debutant Real Madrid goalkeeper gets away with a less than convincing punch away!
While Real Madrid are dominant, and have been dominant for the majority of this match so far, there is still a sense that Alcoyano can cause them some harm on the counter attack.
Another big story related to Real Madrid this week concerns reported secret talks between the Spanish champions and Juventus over the creation of a so-called European Super League. Do fans really want that?
Of course, speculation continues to swirl around Kylian Mbappe and a potential move to Real Madrid. The Frenchman is out of contract at PSG in 2022 and seems destined to play in all white.
VAZQUEZ... saved! The Real Madrid winger takes aim from distance, but Juan was able to watch it all the way and makes the save to prevent Alcoyano from conceding a second.
Zidane will want his side to score a second goal to eliminate some of the nerves from this match. As long as it stays 1-0, Alcoyano have a chance of finding an equaliser.
PICTURE: Marcelo has had a good game
There is speculation that Marcelo could be on his way out of Real Madrid this summer. The Brazilian is on big wages at the club and so the arrival of Alaba could help in this regard.
Into the box! Marcelo sends the low cross into the opposition penalty box, but nobody in a white shirt could get on the end of the delivery and Alcoyano survive. No takers. Nobody gambling.
PICTURE: Militao scored the opener
Of course, Real Madrid had a free weekend after being knocked out of the Spanish Supercopa. That was one benefit, so they should be pretty fresh this evening.
Real Madrid found the breakthrough right at the end of the first half. Can they build on that or wil they come under more pressure from Alcayano now they have to come out and play?
The second half is under way! Real Madrid have a 1-0 lead over Alcoyano in this Copa del Rey tie!
HALF TIME: Alcoyano 0-1 Real Madrid: Militao's headed goal right on the stroke of half time is the difference between the two teams at the break. Alcoyano will have to come out and play.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Alcoyano 0 Real Madrid 1 (45 mins - Eder Militao). A goal right on the stroke of half time! Marcelo curled a wonderful cross into the Alcoyano penalty area from the left side and Militao got on the end of it, guiding a header into the right-hand corner of the opposition net! Real Madrid have the lead!
Odriozola gets a cross into the Alcoyano box from the right side, but it's cleared on the stretch and the home side survive again. In fairness, they haven't had all that much to face.
Can Real Madrid create a true goalscoring chance before the half time whistle? It's all been a bit disjointed from the Spanish champions in the opening 45 minutes of this cup tie.
Of course, Alaba would provide some depth at left back. He played there for a number of seasons, but the Austrian has more recently moved into a central role. What is Real Madrid’s plan for him?
Alaba would be a signing for Real Madrid, especially as a free agent, but where would he fit into Zidane’s team? Is he a long-term replacement for Ramos? They’re very different types of defenders!
This week saw reports surface that Real Madrid have reached an agreement with David Alaba to sign the Austrian defender at the end of the season. He is out of contract at Bayern Munich this summer.
It's quite a poor pitch the two teams are playing on this evening. Real Madrid are dealing okay with it, but it makes slick play around the attacking third quite difficult.
Zidane will be pleased with how his Real Madrid have controlled the majority of the possession so far, but he will surely want them to do more with it in the final third.
Lunin makes the save! That was a decent stop from the Real Madrid debutant goalkeeper. He tips a Jona header over the crossbar. He might have done better with that chance!
That was a waste. That was a chance for Isco to get a good delivery into the opposition penalty area, but it was far too close to Juan and the Alcoyano goalkeeper gathers it.
Most of Real Madrid's attacking play is coming through Vinicius down the left side. The Brazilian is the one who looks the most likely to make something happen for Los Blancos.
It's clear from the way Real Madrid have constructed the majority of their attacking moves that this is a group of players that don't play very often together. A bit disjointed.
For all the possession Real Madrid have had early on in this match, they haven't done much with it. The home side have found it quite comfortable to keep them at arm's length.
It’s even stranger that Zidane didn’t fancy Jovic much when you consider how reliant Real Madrid are on Benzema. When he’s missing, either through injury or suspension, they miss him.
Last week saw Jovic leave Real Madrid for Eintracht Frankfurt on loan. The Serbian striker then scored twice in his first game back in the Bundesliga. It’s strange Zidane didn’t give him more of a chance.
Real Madrid have been in good form of late, but the Spanish Supercopa defeat to Athletic Club must serve as a wake up call. They have been looking increasingly tired in recent matches.
This surely would have been a game that Odegaard would have played in, but he has been left out of the squad after asking for a loan move. Arsenal are believed to be interested!
The Odegaard situation is a strange one because it was reportedly Zidane who asked for his two-year loan deal at Real Sociedad to be cut short. Now, Zidane doesn’t see a role for him in his team.
This week, there are reports that Odegaard has asked Zidane to leave Real Madrid on loan for the rest of the season with the Norwegina midfielder currently struggling for regular game time.
Vinicius has a chance to dribble into the opposition box, but there were simply too many defenders around him. He wins the corner kick, but that comes to nothing as Casemiro flicks wide.
Valverde is denied! The Real Madrid midfielder takes aim from 20 yards out, that was heading for the bottom corner of the Alcoyano net, but Juan makes the solid diving save.
The Copa del Rey has been revitalised in recent seasons. They got rid of the two-legged early rounds and that means there has been more upsets. Atletico Madrid have already been knocked out!
Cross into the middle! Vinicius and Marcelo create the crossing opportunity down the left side with the latter getting the delivery into the box, but Juan makes the punched clearance!
PICTURE: Lunin makes his debut tonight
Odriozola is seeing plenty of the ball in the early stages of this match. He has been generally overlooked at right back by Zidane this season. This is a chance for him to impress.
Real Madrid are controlling possession in the early stages of this match. They are slowing things down in the centre of the pitch. The hosts are quite happy to stand off them.
This is quite a short pitch and so we might see that long ball tactic from Real Madrid a few times this evening. Can Mariano get in behind? Is there enough space for him to exploit?
Casemiro plays a long ball over the top, but the pass was too heavy for Mariano and the Alcoyano goalkeeper comes off his line to make the straightforward catch. Nice idea.
Real Madrid have had the better of the opening minutes of this match, but Alcoyano are doing a decent job of keeping the door closed at the back. The scrappier, the better for them.
Of course, the final of last season’s Copa del Rey is still to be played. The final between Athletic Club and Real Sociedad has been scheduled for April. They’re waiting for fans to be back in stadiums.
Zidane has stayed away from rotating his squad much in recent weeks and that seemed to cost Real Madrid dearly against Athletic Club. The Spanish champions just looked very tired. But he’s changed things up tonight!
Real Madrid come into this match on the back of a disappointing defeat to Athletic Club in the semi finals of the Spanish Supercopa. They won’t want to crash out of another competition this evening.
This is a bit of a lose-lose situation for Real Madrid. If they play well, people will counter that it was only against lower league opposition. If they lose, though, it will be a mini crisis.
The match is under way! It's Alcoyano against Real Madrid in this Copa del Rey round of 32 tie!

The stage is set at El Collao! Can Alcoyano pull off one of the biggest Copa del Rey upsets of all time?
Not long until kick off here. The players are out on the pitch. The magic of the Copa! A pleasant evening in Spain.
The Copa del Rey has been revitalised by the format changes made to it for the start of last season. Is there a chance we could see an almighty upset in the competition this evening?
A rare start for Isco tonight. Can he make the most of it?
Debutants! Chust and Lenin are both given their first team debuts for Real Madrid this evening. This is a chance for some youngsters and fringe figures to make an impression!
Zidane rotates! At long last, the Frenchman has rotated his Real Madrid squad for this Copa del Rey tie. It's been much needed. Los Blancos have looked pretty tired in recent games.
