Monaco reached the League Cup semi-finals with a 4-3 penalty shootout win at Ligue 2 Sochaux following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes in a lively encounter on Tuesday.

Djibril Sidibe scored what proved to be the winning penalty, with Monaco's Guido Carrillo and Sochaux's Moussa Sao missing their teams' final attempts.
Monaco playmaker Joao Moutinho had equalised with six minutes left to cancel out Faneva Andriatsima's first-half opener. The tie then went straight to a shootout because for the first time the competition does not feature extra time.

Nancy also advanced with a 2-0 quarter-final win at Nantes as they handed the Canaries a first defeat since former Portugal international Sergio Conceicao became head coach a month ago.
In Sochaux, Andriatsima scored in the 16th minute with a low cross-shot and both teams then missed clear chances before Moutinho netted a splendid volley from just inside the box.
On Wednesday, Girondins de Bordeaux host En Avant Guingamp and holders Paris St Germain entertain Metz in the other quarter-finals.
