Diego Poyet returns to West Ham after MK Dons loan cut short
West Ham midfielder Diego Poyet's season-long loan at MK Dons is being cut short.
The 20-year-old son of former Uruguay international Gus Poyet moved to stadium:mk in August and has made 20 appearances.
Poyet was not, however, part of the squad for MK Dons' 1-1 draw at Leeds, after which manager Karl Robinson revealed the midfielder is returning to West Ham as he is too similar in style to vice-captain Darren Potter.
"As a combination they didn't do too well together and he knows what Darren Potter means to my football club," he said.
"It's not fair on a young player to not give him many minutes and in time he will be a much better player than a lot in this league. He's a tremendous young man."
Poyet featured in five of West Ham's Europa League ties before joining MK Dons and returns to a club sitting sixth in the Barclays Premier League table.
