Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Hungary and Portugal drew 3-3 in a whirlwind final group game, with both sides heading into the tournament’s last 16.
Hungary three times took the lead against Portugal, with Balazs Dzsudzsak also notching twice. But Fernando Santos’ side responded every time, as three goals were scored in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

5 things: Portugal and Hungary in six-goal thriller

It wasn’t quite the momentous result Ronaldo and Portugal would have liked to kick start their campaign, but the point was enough to send them into the next round of the competition despite failing to win a single match.
Portugal go through as the third-placed side from Group F with just three points, Hungary topped the group with five, and Iceland are in second with five points and a worse goal difference.
Iceland will play England in their next match to be played in Nice.

TALKING POINT - Has Cristiano Ronaldo finally found his groove at Euro 2016?

Having drawn a blank in each of his two opening group games at the tournament, Ronaldo needed a goal against Hungary. In the end he got two and he could have scored more. The Portuguese forward was back to his best, escaping the rut that had engulfed him up until this point. Ronaldo has finally arrived at Euro 2016, it would seem.

MAN OF THE MATCH - Balazs Dzsudzsak

Ronaldo might have scored twice, but he was outshone by his counterpart on the Hungarian team. Dzsudzsak also bagged a brace, twice giving his side the lead, but his performance was about more than the goals he scored. He was the danger man for Hungary throughout and deserved the luck he got with the two deflections that contributed to his goals. Dzsudzsak has been one of the shining stars of the tournament so far.
