Good evening! Welcome to live coverage of Netherlands versus Ukraine in Group C of the European Championship. It’s the first of three home games for the Dutch at the Johann Cruyff Arena, as the continue to recuperate from missing out on Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup. For the Ukraine, they’re looking to bounce back from a miserable Euro 2016 where they lost all three matches and didn’t even register a goal. Two teams in need of some good news, then; let’s see how it pans out. Team news to follow from Amsterdam shortly.

I think it was Zinchenko that the ball just went through down the Ukrainian left there. Bushchan, so solid up to now, might have done better in getting the ball away too.

The Dutch are ahead! A long, low ball somehow squirms through to Dumfries down the right. He crosses low into the area, where Bushchan dives out to divert the ball away from Depay at the back post. The ball falls to WIjnaldum on the edge, and he booms it into the roof of the net!

De Roon clips a ball to the back post that picks out Dumfries. He heads back across goal, but Buschan is out to gather ahead of Weghorst.

The Dutch are dominating the second half, but their run of possession ends when they lose it and Weghorst goes in late on Karavaiev to concede a free kick.

Somewhat surprisingly, it's goalless at half time in Amsterdam.

Marlos bursts forward for the Ukraine, and another cheeky back heel from Yaremchuk finds Yarmolenko, who bursts between two and then sees Stekelenburg's clearance rebound behind off him for a goal kick. We'll have one additional minute.

Depay tries to spin Zabarnyi in the area after a cute pass from van Aanholt, but he's muscled out of it.

WHAT A MISS! Dumfries, who looks the most likely for the Netherlands, walks on to a cross at the back post but heads hopelessly wide from six yards out!
On the replay of that Bushchan save, it turns out it was better than we thought as Wijnaldum's volley caught a deflection on the way through.

GOOD SAVE! After a chipped pass by de Jong into the box is headed clear, Wijnaldum booms in a ferocious volley from the edge that Bushchan parries away. That was shifting, and Bushchan had very little time to react.

The Dutch win a corner, and work it to van Aanholt 25 yards out and central. He has a yahoo at goal, which sails way, way over the bar.

Depay and de Jong work Dumfries into space on the right edge of the area again, but his low cross is hacked clear again.

Depay shimmies in to a crossing position on the left, but overshoots it for Dumfries at the far post. Dumfries is playing like the wide forward of a front three here, with acres of space around him at all times.

Neat feet from Yarmolenko opens up a shooting chance from the right edge of the area, but it's on his weaker right foot and he plugs it straight into the hands of Stekelenburg.

CHANCES! Weghorst is in, one on one, and tries to go around Bushchan who hooks it into his body superbly to prevent a certain goal. The Ukraine break immediately, with Yaremchuk back-heeling a pass to Yarmolenko in the Dutch area. Just as Yarmolenko opens up to shoot, a despairing tackle from van Aanholt pokes the ball away from danger!

Dumfries has been such an outlet for the Dutch so far.; from tight on the right touchline he whips a delicious ball in around the back of the Ukrainian defence, but neither Weghorst or Depay read it and it drifts harmlessly away from goal.

A loose ball in the Ukrainian box almost squirts through to van Aanholt, who looks a mile offside but the last touch to send the ball his way may have been off a defender. Bushchan doesn't wait to find out, and rushes out to clear with his feet.

Yarmolenko gets a chance to take on Blind one on one down the right; he overruns the ball though, forcing him to cut back, and the chance escapes.

The Ukraine, who qualified for this tournament unbeaten ahead of Portugal, are not overawed in the slightest here and are snapping around the Dutch players to try and regain possession.
It's pleasing to note that there are a number of tributes to Christian Eriksen in the stands in Amsterdam tonight, in banners and shirts. Eriksen began his career right here with Ajax; all best wishes to him with his recovery after those traumatic scenes in Copenhagen last night.

Yaremchuk gets the chance to unload with his left from the edge of the area, but bobbles it horribly and the ball trickles through to Stekelenburg.
