FULL-TIME

That's it, the game is over, and it's a point for both sides after a game desperately low on quality. Will that be an important point for the Republic of Ireland when the group is done, or have they missed a golden opportunity here?

90+5

CHANCE! Hendrick's looping outswinger finds the head of Duffy, who plants his header straight at Loria who holds it on the goal line.

90+4

One last chance here, as the Republic win a corner on the right. Hendrick to take.

90+2

ANOTHER CHANCE! Whelan launches a long clearance that suddenly releases Connolly. He outruns the Georgian defence, with the ball bobbling and drifting slightly away from goal. Connolly launches a half volley at goal but it ripples the side-netting.

90+2

We're into four additional minutes.

90'

HALF A CHANCE FOR CONNOLLY! McClean beats his man again down the left and fires a low cross into the box. It breaks to Connolly in the left of the area, who drills in a low shot that's well held by Loria.

90'

Arburjania is on for Georgia, replacing Kiteishvili.

89'

Kakabadze, the right-back, shoots from thirty yards with his left foot, and it goes nowhere near the goal.

87'

Georgia win another corner, but can't clear the first man. The quality in the attacking thirds has just not been there for either side. Grigalava picks up a yellow for a cynical foul that breaks up play.

86'

Whelan tries to hit Connolly with a long ball through the middle, but it's overhit and runs through to Loria.

84'

Coleman and Egan get in a mix-up at the back. It breaks to Lobjanidze, who opts to cut inside rather than shoot and Ireland scramble it clear for a corner.

82'

Connolly is straight into it. He exchanges passes with Coleman as the Irish look to find a way into the Georgian area, but it's cut out and Georgia clear.

80'

Kiteishvili has a long, speculative effort that deflects out for a corner, which comes to nothing.

79'

It's time for Aaron Connolly, who replaces Collins up front. For Georgia, Lobjanidze replaces Okriashvili. The Republic of Ireland need two wins in their last three qualifiers to make it to Euro 2020; can they grab a crucial goal in the embers of this game?

78'

Okriashvili has gone down for Georgia here, and might need to come off.

75'

Another good jaunt down the left from McClean leads to his looping cross being flicked out to Hendrick at the back of the penalty area. He has a yahoo at goal, but locates only the side of the net. Loria looked to have had that covered.

74'

Changes afoot. Browne replaces Robinson for the Irish, while Shengelia comes on to replace Kvilitaia for Georgia.

72'

Coleman loses the ball on the right for Ireland, but Georgia can't string the passes together to punish them and the ball finds it's way back to Randolph.

70'

McClean does well to turn a potential goal-kick for Georgia into a throw-in, but it's indicative of Ireland's toils up front, where the combination just hasn't worked.

67'

Georgia are suddenly at it, and the crowd are up; Qazaishvili whips in a dangerous ball from the left but Egan rises to head clear.

66'

Ananidze takes it, but can't get his whipped shot to come down in time and it sails harmlessly over the bar.

65'

Ananidze breaks down the left, and Whelan hauls him down on the very corner of the penalty area. A yellow card, and a dangerous free-kick here for Georgia.

63'

There's plenty of industry from both sides but very little quality in the final third. Will either manager change this from the bench to try and find a way through?

61'

Ireland settle into a bout of possession across their back four, soundtracked by heavy whistling from the Tbilisi crowd.

58'

Kakabadze cuts in unchallenged from the right. He gets into the area and opens up to shoot with his left foot, but Doherty gets back to block the effort.

56'

Kakabadze whips a cross over from the right. Randolph misjudges it slightly, but Qazaishvili can't connect at the back post and the ball bounces clear.

55'

An identical free-kick for Ireland now in the Georgian half. Hourihane whips it in but Loria punches it clear.

53'

Ananidze fizzes in the corner. Kiteishvili projects a header at goal but it hits Kvilitaia in the arm and loops over the bar. Handball is given, free-kick to the Republic.

51'

Good pressure down the right from Georgia eventually earns them a free-kick about thirty-five yards out and to the right. Ananidze whips it in and wins the corner as IReland clear, quickly followed by another.

50'

Kakabadze is back on, and immediately tested by McClean down the left. McClean cuts inside and crosses into the area, but it's cleared by Georgia.

48'

Kakabadze has gone down heavily here, and is hobbling. He might not be able to continue, as he limps off for treatment.

46'

From a tight spot in the bottom left corner McClean digs out a fantastic cross that Loria can only spill, before his defenders clear the danger.

2ND HALF

We're back out and underway in the second half.

HT

That's half-time. Georgia have been the brighter side in attack, but the Republic of Ireland have come the closest when Egan's early header clanged against the post.

45+1

There will be one additional minute. Coleman gets in a good crossing position on the right, but can only put the ball into the side-netting.

45'

Hourihane whips the ball in and finds Egan's head again, but there was a foul in the move and it's a free-kick to Georgia.

44'

An inswinging cross from Robinson is hooked out by the Georgian defence for a corner.

42'

The Georgians break from the Irish corner after the ball is cleared. It's worked to Qazaishvili on the left, who cuts infield to the edge of the penalty area before dragging his shot well wide of goal.

40'

McClean gets in space in the inside left channel. He whips a cross to the back post, but it's slightly overdone. Coleman gets it back, and wins a corner for the Republic.

37'

The Republic have a very brief chance to break as McClean finds Collins down the left. In trying to overlap him, McClean accidentally collides with Collins and the ball and it trickles out for a throw-in.

35'

A sniff of a chance for Ireland, as Robinson whips a cross in from the right touchline. It bounces through the Georgian six yard box and just too far ahead of McClean, who was unmarked.

31'

Qazaishvili goes on a couple of twisting, turning runs on the left of the Irish area. Both times he's smothered, and is forced to turn back and lay the ball off. Good defending from the Republic.

30'

A bit of a lull in the game. The Republic look comfortable holding the hosts at arms length for the moment.

27'

Doherty gets up a gallop, advancing deep into the Georgian penalty area and reaching the line. He just slightly overruns it though and the ball drifts out before he can pull it back for a colleague.

25'

A loose ball breaks to the Republic after a foul in the middle of the field. The play is allowed to continue, but McClean can't slide it through to Collins. That ball looked on, and was half a chance for the Irish to get clean through there.

23'

Georgia are very neat and tidy in possession, and have settled the better of the two sides so far.

20'

Kiteishvili glides through the centre of the Irish midfield to lead a break for Georgia. He comes unstuck when he reaches the edge of the area, dallying on the ball for too long before the Republic win the ball back and clear.

19'

Hendrick whips a nice cross to the back post, but it's just to high for McClean and trundles out of the area away from danger.

17'

Okraishvili gets in behind Doherty now, who's struggling a little against the Georgians down the left. The cross-cum-shot balloons behind Randolph's goal.

15'

Robinson tries to progress down the right for the Irish but is dispossessed easily, as the Georgians play triangles around him in the bottom corner to smoothly work their way upfield.

13'

Ananidze tries to clip a ball into the area, which the Republic head away. Okraishvili hits the deck under a challenge from Doherty, but the referee is not having any of it.

11'

Another chance for Georgia. A hopeful long clearance finds Kvilitaia onside, and running through to the area. He's held up, but lays it off to Ananidze, who drags his shot wide from the edge of the area.

10'

Georgia work another nice move down the left to get Okraishvili free in the area, but his cut-back is intercepted and the Republic clear their lines again.

7'

The crowd are up suddenly, as Ananidze and Kankava work a good move to the right side. Kakabadze gets forward to hook a cross into the area with his left foot, but the Republic clear.

6'

It's a testing pitch for the players; the surface looks dry and uneven in places, so skidding the ball around it with intent is proving difficult so far.

4'

OFF THE POST! The Republic win a free-kick out on the left. Hourihane whips it into the area and Egan rises to get a glancing header on the ball. It flashes at goal, hits the inside of the post and bounces out. So close!

1'

An early look for Georgia, as Qazaishvili plays a quick one-two to get into the area, but he slashes his shot horribly out for a throw-in.

KICK OFF

Peep peep, we're off!

13:58

The anthems done, and kick-off will be upon us shortly.

13:54

It's almost time to go, as captains Jaba Kankava and Seamus Coleman lead out the teams. The referee today will be Marco Guida of Italy.

13:51

It’s a sunny yet breezy early evening in Tbilisi, the conditions look perfect. There is a danger that goals might be at a premium today; These teams have only scored ten between them in ten games, with six of those going past Gibraltar in three games. The ace up Mick McCarthy’s sleeve to break any deadlock will be the teenage forward Aaron Connolly, who heaped more misery on Tottenham last weekend with two goals for Brighton in their 3-0 victory.

13:45

This will be the tenth occasion that the sides have faced each other, with the Republic of Ireland having won nine of the matches, the other resulting in a draw. The most recent meeting between the two was earlier in the group, when the Irish beat Georgia 1-0 in Dublin in March.

13:40

The Republic of Ireland can make a big leap toward a qualifying place for the 2020 European Championship with a win in Tbilisi today. The full three points would extend their lead at the top of Group D to five points, with Denmark and Switzerland, currently second and third in the group, due to meet in Copenhagen tonight.

13:35

The hosts Georgia are currently fourth in the group on four points. This is their final home game in this qualifying section, after previously losing to Switzerland, beating Gibraltar and drawing with Denmark. Georgia’s hopes for qualification are more tied in with UEFA Nations League D after winning their group in that competition last November.

13:30

The Luton striker James Collins makes his first start for the Republic of Ireland, after coming off the bench to score on his debut versus Bulgaria last month. Matt Doherty replaces the suspended Enda Stevens.

13:25

The visiting Republic of Ireland (4-3-3): Randolph; Coleman (c), Duffy, Egan, Doherty; Whelan, Hourihane, Hendrick; Robinson, McClean, Collins

SUBS: O’Hara, Williams, Browne, Maguire, Hogan, Byrne, Travers, Connolly, O’Dowda, Judge, Cullen, Long
