On target! Bain has to make a save at his near post. The header from Muzhikov, who has only just come off the bench, was a good one, but wasn't enough to beat the Scotland goalkeeper.

You can't argue that Scotland have been unlucky here. They have been played off the pitch by a Kazakhstan side who have even taken their foot off the pedal in this second half.

Clash of heads! That was a sore one. I didn't quite see who it was, but two Kazakhstan players have clashed heads while going for the same ball and they are receiving treatment now.

On the other side of things, Kazakhstan have coasted through this second half. They know that the game is won and they are just seeing out what will be a famous win for them.

Scotland are resigned to defeat this point. There is no intensity, no tempo to their play. To be honest, it's been that way since the third goal went in for Kazakhstan. Really turgid stuff.

The way Scotland have played from the midfield to the attack has been truly awful. Why are they playing so many aimless balls forward, especially when Burke is now leading the line?

While Scotland have been atrocious, you have to give Kazakhstan come credit for the way they have played. Their pressing game has been effective and they look dangerous on the counter.

This is the worst possible start to this qualification group for Scotland. They wanted a win from this game and instead they have been handed a comprehensive, humiliating defeat.

The worrying thing for Scotland is that Kazakhstan look more likely to score a fourth than Scotland look to score a first. They look dangerous whenever they get forward on the counter.

This has been atrocious from Scotland. They are a team without an identity, without ideas and that has been exposed by a poor Kazakhstan side. Is this a sackable result for McLeish?

From long range! Murtazayev takes aim from about 25 yards out. There was some dip and swerve on the strike from the Kazakhstan forward, but Bain just about deals with it.

Scotland face San Marino at the weekend. The hope was that McLeish's team would have six points from six to start this qualification campaign. That does not look likely now.

Will there be any sort of fight back from Scotland? Time is running out for them. A draw would have been a disappointing result before kick off. Now, Scotland would bite your hand off for that.

Kazakhstan have only won four games in the last decade, so this is a big deal for them. The atmosphere in the Astana Arena has been electric since that opening goal for the home side.

Chance for Forrest! That was a good opportunity for Scotland to grab a lifeline. McBurnie's knocked on header fell for Forrest inside the box, but he scuffed his shot on goal. He might have done better with that.

Burke made such a strong start to the match, but he has faded. Scotland are really lacking any sort of forward thrust. They are relying on hopeful balls into the opposition box.

How much longer will McLeish and the Scotland coaching staff wait before making some changes? They do have options on the bench. They need to get more support up to McBurnie.

Terrific save! Armstrong looked all but certain to find the back of the net, bursting through the Kazakhstan defence and then angling a low shot on goal, but the goalkeeper made a diving save.

This is becoming a real humiliation for Scotland. They looked at this as a favourable start to their qualification campaign, but now it looks set to be the worst possible start. Incredible.

Scotland are seeing plenty of the ball, but they just aren't making any sort of progress whenever they move it into the final third of the pitch. They are so toothless in attack.

Kazakhstan are doing a good job of crowding out McBurnie whenever the ball is played near the Scotland striker. He is so isolated up there. McLeish surely has to make a change!

No changes made by McLeish at the half time interval. Is he really going to stick with things the way they are? Scotland were pretty dreadful in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half is under way! Kazakhstan are 2-0 up against Scotland in this Euro 2020 qualifier.

HALF TIME: Kazakhstan 2-0 Scotland. What a calamitous first half for McLeish's men in Astana. They have given themselves a mountain to climb and there's no sign that they will pull a comeback off.

Just one minute of stoppage time to be played at the end of the first half.

McLeish needs a rethink at half time. This system and approach, whatever it is, just isn't working for Scotland. They have been so incredibly ineffective, especially in the final third of the pitch.

Kazakhstan injury! The captain of the home side, Kuat, has hit the ground and is now receiving some treatment. Not sure what the problem is, but he looks set to continue. Play has resumed.

Shinnie plays a long, aimless ball forward for Forrest, of all people, to get on the end of. I would say Scotland have run out of ideas, but they hardly had loads of ideas to begin with.

The problem for Scotland is that they are leaving loads of space in behind for Kazakhstan to exploit on the break. And the hosts look very dangerous when they do. Pattern.

There is a sense that Scotland are starting to crank things up as half time approaches. 2-0 down at the midway point would be a disaster. A goal would give them a decent platform.

Header over! Armstrong plays the freekick into the Kazakhstan penalty area, with the ball floating all the way through to McGinn. But there was a lot of work for him to do there and he heads over.

This has been a dismal first half from Scotland. Have they even created a chance? They have looked dangerous at times, but there has been no substance to their play in the final third.

McBurnie is down! This is a bit of a concern for Scotland. The ball was gone when the Kazakhstan midfielder battered into the Swansea City forward. There was no need for that at all.

It's just not working for Scotland on the left side of the defence. Shinnie really does look lost there. Kazakhstan are being afforded so much time to build up play and get the ball into the box.

What a strike! Kuat takes on the effort from 25 yards out, with the ball dipping and swerving. Bain does well to get hand up and push the strike over his own crossbar. What a shot.

And here is the second Kazakhstan goal...

While the cross just there from Burke was pretty dreadful, he does look the most creative Scotland player. He has the beating of the right wing back. He can't live with Burke's pace.

The ball has to be better! Armstrong played Burke down the left wing, but after beating his man the on loan West Brom winger could only send his cross sailing behind for a goal kick.

Scotland need McGinn to take a grip of things in the middle of the pitch and drive the ball closer to the front three. The Aston Villa man hasn't done enough in the opening half hour.

This was Kazakhstan's first goal...

Scotland, on the whole, haven't played that poorly. They haven't played that well either, it must be said, but the two goals have been sucker punches. McBurnie needs to get involved.

Cleared! McGregor gets the freekick into the penalty area after a foul on Palmer, but the Kazakhstan defence does well to clear the danger under pressure from the men in dark blue.

This Scotland team does have goals in them. They showed that over the successful Nations League campaign last year. They need to rediscover that scoring touch here.

Here's a statistic for you - Kazakhstan have only ever won FOUR European Championship qualifiers. And they are 2-0 up against Scotland after just 15 minutes. Wow.

This is a disaster for Scotland because now Kazakhstan have something to protect and so they can sit back, absorb pressure and then hit out on the rapid counter attack. Suits the hosts.

One of the things that is abundantly clear already is how much Scotland are missing the influence of one of either Robertson or Tierney in the left back position. Shinnie looks a bit lost.

Scotland look utterly shocked by what has happened in these opening 10 minutes. Kazakhstan are two goals to the good and this will be a massive mountain for the Scots to climb from here.

It seemed that Scotland had actually made a decent start to the game, they had looked dangerous, but one moment of defensive frailty has cost them. Kazakhstan took that chance well.

Burke to the byline! Great play by the Celtic winger, getting in behind the Kazakhstan defence, but his cut back couldn't find a player in a dark blue shirt and the home side clear.

Palmer gets an early touch down the right side. He's making his Scotland debut here as Patterson can't play on this kind of artificial surface in Astana. How will he cope on his debut?

Kazakhstan have won just one of their last six international fixtures, so Scotland will be confident of picking up three points here. How will those injuries affect them, though? Let's see.
