Football news – Alexandre Lacazette suspended for Arsenal’s round-of-16 tie against Rennes
Alexandre Lacazette will miss both of Arsenal’s Europa League last-16 matches against Rennes after UEFA handed the striker a three-match ban.
The Frenchman saw red in the first leg of Arsenal’s last-32 tie at BATE Borisov last week for elbowing Aleksandar Filipovic in the 86th minute.
Arsenal last that opening leg 1-0, but battled back in Lacazette’s absence to win the return leg 3-0 on Thursday.

Friday’s Europa League draw confirmed Arsenal would play Ligue 1 club Rennes in the last 16, with the first tie in France on March 7.
Arsenal will then host Rennes a week later on March 14, with Unai Emery’s side among the favourites to win Europe’s secondary competition, which secures a spot in the Champions League group stages for the following season.
