Europa League: Who qualified - Drama as Rosenborg send Celtic through, Milan ousted by Olympiacos

The business end of the Europa League did not disappoint. Here is the story of how the final matchday unfolded.

Here are the group winners and runners up.
- Group A - Leverkusen (winners), FC Zurich
- Group B – Salzburg (winners), Celtic
- Group C – FC Zenit (winners), Slavia Prague
- Group D - Dinamo Zagreb (winners), Fenerbahce
- Group E - Arsenal (winners), Sporting CP
- Group F - Real Betis (winners), Olympiacos
- Group G – Villarreal (winners), Rapid Wien
- Group H - Eintracht Frankfurt (winners), Lazio
- Group I: Genk (winners), Malmo
- Group J: Sevilla (winners), Krasnodar
- Group K: Dynamo Kyiv (winners), Rennes
- Group L: Chelsea (winners), BATE
And they will be joined by the Champions League third-place teams, as follows.

Here are how the groups finished.
GROUP A
Final matchday results:
- Ludogorets 1-1 Zurich
- AEK Larnaca 1-5 Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen and FC Zurich were both through prior to the final matchday but the Swiss Super League side could have snatched top spot had they bettered Leverkusen's result. However, the Bundesliga side trounced AEK Larnaca as bottom-placed Ludogorets held Zurich to a 1-1 draw.
GROUP B
Final matchday results:
- Celtic 1-2 Salzburg
- Leipzig 1-1 Rosenborg
RB Salzburg finish with a perfect record of six wins from six games after they beat Celtic 2-1. That result looked set to condemn Celtic to elimination with RB Leipzig leading Rosenborg 1-0. However, an 86th-minute header from Tore Reginiussen secured Rosenborg a draw and Celtic's safe passage to the knockout stages.
GROUP C
Final matchday results:
- Slavia Prague 2-0 Zenit
- Kobenhavn 0-1 Bordeaux
FC Zenit were already confirmed as group winners with Slavia Prague and Kobenhavn battling it out for second. However, Kobenhavn finished bottom after losing 1-0 at home to Bordeaux - a result that mattered little in the grand scheme of things after Slavia Prague inflicted Zenit's first defeat in the group to sow up second.
GROUP D
Final matchday results:
- Dinamo Zagreb 0-0 Anderlecht
- Spartak Trnava 1-0 Fenerbahce
This group was as simple as you like. Dinamo Zagreb had won it and were joined in the next round by Fenerbahce ahead of the last round of games. Spartak Trnava's win over the Turkish side, coupled with Anderlecht's draw with Zagreb, saw the Slovak side confirm third place though.
GROUP E
Final matchday results:
- Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag
- Sporting CP 3-0 Vorskla
Arsenal had already confirmed their status as group winners, with Sporting CP runners-up. True to form Arsenal beat Qarabag with Sporting CP also conformably dispatching Vorskla in one of the competitions more lopsided groups.
Group F
Final matchday results:
- Olympiacos 3-1 Milan
- Dudelange 0-0 Betis
Real Betis were definitely through but not as confirmed winners ahead of the final matchday. Milan could topple the Liga club with victory away at Olympiacos, who needed to beat the Serie A team 3-1 to progress on goal difference. Betis' draw with Dudelange left the door open for Gennaro Gattuso's men to win the group but Super League side Olympiacos managed to seal an unlikely second spot with victory at the Karaiskakis Stadium.
GROUP G
Final matchday results:
- Rapid Wien 1-0 Rangers
- Villarreal 2-0 Spartak Moscow
An extremely tight group coming into the final matchday, with all four teams chasing qualification but Villarreal and Rapid Wien progress after comfortable wins.
GROUP H
Final matchday results:
- Lazio 1-2 Frankfurt
- Marseille 1-3 Apollon
This group was settled before the last matchday but Frankfurt continued their domination with an easy win away at Lazio to make it six wins from six. While Marseille's miserable campaign concluded with further ignominy with a 3-1 defeat to Apollon.
GROUP I
Final matchday results:
- Genk 4-0 Sarpsborg
- Besiktas 0-1 Malmo
All four teams were still alive in the group heading into the last round of games. Sarpsborg needed a big win away at Genk in the final matchday but were thumped 4-0 whilst Malmo overcame 10-man Besiktas in Turkey to take second.
GROUP J
Final matchday results:
- Akhisar 0-0 Standard Liege
- Sevilla 3-0 Krasnodar
Astonishingly Krasnodar, Sevilla and Standard Liege could have all finished on 12 points had results gone as expected. However, Akhisar's surprise draw with Standard Liege sent Sevilla and Krasnodar through, with the Liga side winning the group after a 3-0 win at home against the Russians.
GROUP K
Final matchday results:
- Dynamo Kyiv 0-1 Jabolenc
- Rennes 2-0 Astana
Rennes emerged from a showdown with Astana with the three points required to seal second behind already-qualified Dynamo Kyiv.
GROUP L
Final matchday results:
- Vidi 2-2 Chelsea
- PAOK 1-3 BATE
Both Vidi and BATE had the chance to go through to the knockout stages, but it is the Belarusians who join group winners Chelsea in the last 32 after they beat PAOK 3-1 and Vidi drew 2-2 with Chelsea.
