Goals from Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud helped Chelsea return to winning ways with a 2-1 first-leg win at Malmo.
After suffering their worst defeat in 28 years at Man City on Sunday, Chelsea responded to the 6-0 drubbing with a clinical enough display in Sweden.
Barkley scored his first European goal before the break, while Giroud flicked in the second just before the hour-mark, as Chelsea converted their first two attempts on target.
However, just as Chelsea pushed for a third, Anders Christiansen struck to give Malmo hope going into the return leg next week.
Three minutes added on at Malmo.
All about seeing this one out now for Chelsea - it's still two away goals, and they will still be heavy favourites to go through.
Can't imagine Hazard is enjoying playing on a Thursday night in Sweden. You get the impression he wants to go it alone as he carries the ball for an age into the Malmo half, but the attack eventually ends.

GOAL FOR MALMO!
Well then, Malmo are back in the tie. Christiansen converts after the hosts counter to great effect, slotting it past Kepa after a fine pass from Rosenberg.

And here's Kante for Jorginho.
Brave goalkeeping from Dahlin with Pedro looking to get on the end of an Azpilicueta cross.

A slight surprise to see Hazard come on for Willian.

Two Malmo changes.
Pedro's shot deflects just wide but Chelsea are wasteful with the corner.
He's the stat-man.
BIG SAVE! Almost 3-0, but Dahlin does brilliantly to tip over Barkley's effort from basically the penalty spot.
That's not five goals in four Europa League games for Giroud. He does well in the competition, but judging by his celebration he knows it's no reward being played on a cold night in Sweden. Higuain and Hazard remain on the bench and it's difficult to see them featuring at all!
- GoalOlivier GiroudChelsea
GOAL FOR CHELSEA!
Oh behave Olivier... It's a devastating counter from Chelsea as Willian takes it to the byline before sending in a low cross which Giroud coolly flicks in.
A foul from Rosenberg leaves Emerson without a boot momentarily. Another foul for the count.
CLOSE! Malmo knocking on the door - after Azpilicueta turns it behind for a corner, the ball falls for Traustason on the edge of the area, and his strike is goalbound but headed just wide by Luiz.
Not going well for Celtic...
Traustason is picked out on the edge of the area but Azpilicueta is there no make the block.
Nice build-up play as Chelsea go in search of a second, but Azpilicueta's cross is hoofed away for a throw-in.
And of course we start the half with a foul on Luiz, in Chelsea's own half this time.
- 2nd Half
Back under way at Malmo. 16 fouls to one shot on target in the first half - let's try and do better this half.
- End of 1st Half
No added time and that's half-time. Barkley's first European goal the difference!
Malmo giving a decent account of themselves since going a goal down. Chelsea would welcome half-time, and full-time too, in truth.
CHANCES! Malmo upping the ante - a free-kick comes in and Luiz makes a vital block before Barkley heads away a follow-up shot.
A corner then comes in and Vindheim sees a shot blocked before Traustason scuffs a shot wide!
OVER! Malmo pushing forward a bit more now, and Christiansen sees a shot deflect over for a corner.
Chelsea deal with the cross that follows, however.
There we go. Cheers, Joe.
*patiently waits for a great Opta stat*
That is a first European goal for Barkley, from what was the first shot on target this match!
- GoalRoss BarkleyChelsea
GOAL! CHELSEA TAKE THE LEAD!
And it's Barkley who breaks the deadlock on the half-hour mark in Sweden, as he manages to get the ball out from under his feet before poking it home following Pedro's cross.
Another foul means it's another chance for Willian to cross one if for Chelsea - he finds Giroud beyond the back post but Luiz is penalised for a foul in the middle of the area.
WIDE! Moments later Azpilicueta sends in a cross but Giroud can only head it harmlessly wide.
FINALLY! Something of note. Chelsea go on the break and Willian lofts a tempting ball into the air, but Giroud tries to chest it down instead of head it and it ultimately bounces out for a goal kick.
Not that exciting, granted, but still, something.
What they said.
Plenty of fouls or unawarded free-kicks in this match but already it's turning into a turgid affair - is there anything else on?
Few chances of note in all honesty. Chelsea would of course take a 0-0 with them to Stamford Bridge, so perhaps it's on Malmo to spark this first leg into life!
Correction - throwing things at each other, it would appear...
Chelsea have a free-kick out wide but Luiz is offside as the ball comes in.
Talk of objects being thrown on the pitch by supporters from the BT Sport commentary team - all just reports at the moment though. Home fans certainly creating a boisterous atmosphere!
Funny. Because he smokes.
BLOCK! Barkley shows some intent as he carries the ball forward - he puts it onto his left and sees an effort deflect wide for a corner.
Crowd aren't happy as Antonsson goes down on the edge of the area but is not awarded the free-kick. Referee nonplussed.
Willian threads a ball through for Barkley, who gets the cross in, but the flag goes up for offside. Chelsea enjoying plenty of the ball early on.
First corner for Chelsea and it falls to Giroud, but he cannot connect with it properly and Malmo clear.
Incredible noise from the hosts - they're in the mood tonight, having been starved of football in recent months.
After TWELVE seconds Malmo win a corner when Rieks' strike deflects wide. It's played short and eventually crossed in - it falls for Nielsen, who sees his strike go out for another corner...
Early pressure from the hosts here but the cross is just too strong for Bengtsson at the back post.
- 1st Half
After a minute's silence - which broke in applause - to remember the late Emiliano Sala, play is under way in Sweden.
Will be intriguing to see how Malmo fare after so long without a game!
