That's full time. A disaster for Arsenal who are going backwards again. They have lost their way under Emery and they are showing all the same problems as they had under Wenger. They could of course still turn it around, but a loss to Manchester United could give them some complete and utter mental disintegration.
Cech has the ball back and plays it out to the defence. They are finding it hard to even find an outlet in the other half

Mkhitaryan can only clear the ball about 15 yards up the line before Rennes have it back. Xhaka hacks at Siliki, and is a touch lucky not to get another yellow given this ref.

Panic stations now for Arsenal as Ben Arfa's cross is blocked, then Grenier's shot is scuffed, but Arsenal just cannot keep it out of their half.
Ben Arfa arcs a free kick over the wall towards goal, but Cech is able to palm it over.

Sarr goes to ground in the box after Koscileny runs alongside him. He wants a penalty, which is a nonsense.
A double save from Cech, with Sarr having a shot from inside the box beaten away for a corner after - I think - Bourigeaud wallopped in another from distance.
Arsenal come forward for a moment and are in possession. Now is the time to keep hold of it for a few minutes.
Arsenal need to throw on Roy Keane to calm things down.

Sarr crosses from the right with a low pass for Bourigeaud, and he clips in a shot straight at Cech.
Bourigeaud attempts to curl a cross into the box for runners, but it doubles up as a shot and curls just wide of the far post.
Rennes putting on the pressure now as Arsenal sit back. If they can take 1-1 back to the Emirates from here they will be content.
Rennes shove Ozil over and Iwobi comes forward as Arsenal break, but he's crowded out.

Ben Arfa comes down the left, and Rennes open up Arsenal down the left giving Sarr the chance to sidefoot at the near post, scuffing it wide with a poor effort.
Arsenal are under pressure now with Rennes looking to consolidate their advantage before the end of the half.
Rennes play Depeche Mode to celebrate the goal, which is the very first instance of acceptable goal music that I can remember.

GOAL! Rennes 1-1 Arsenal. Bourigeaud lines up a free kick 25 yards out, to the left of the D, and he sweeps a free kick into the wall, before meeting the rebound with a beautiful volley that whistles past Cech.

RED CARD! Sokratis is sent off! He can have no complaints as he brought down Sarr, chasing Ben Arfa's through ball into the box, and is given a second yellow.
Ben Arfa jinks his way into the box but takes one touch too many and has the path to goal blocked. The crowd and home side have their tails up.
Rennes break with Zeffane and then Sarr, who gets to the very edge of the box before passing to his left, but it's straight at a defender, meaning the ball bounces to Cech.

Bourigeaud is booked for zesty foul on Torreira as he looked to break down the right wing.
Sarr wriggles free on the right, but he and Zeffane fail to work well enough together to get a cross into the box. They win a throw instead.
Hunou has a shot fly well over the bar, and Rennes are growing into the game now.
Ben Arfa fizzes in a free kick, low and to Cech's right, bouncing just in front of him, but he's alive to the danger and beats it away.

Sokratis blocks off Ben Arfa's run in a dangerous position 25 yards out from goal, and is booked.
Bensebaini can't keep a loose pass in play and Arsenal win the ball back with a throw in midfield.
Mkhitaryan lines up a free kick on the left, a clever move finds Ozil on the left wing to fire in a cross, and Mustafi is given the chance to drill a shot just a yard wide of the far post.
Sokratis is given a warning for going into the back of Andre on the right wing. The free kick comes to nothing when Mexer is flagged offside at the back post.
Mustafi attempts a through ball into the box, but it's far too straight and quick, and is overpowered.
Koubek dives to punch away Iwobi's cross after he was found on the left by Mkhitaryan, crossing in for Aubameyang at the back post.
It looks to be a problem with his muscles, though, which will do for Mustafi, who is down in pain.
Mustafi turns up in the box, crosses for Aubameyang, but the ball richochets off Mexer, into what appears to be his testes, and out for a goal kick.
Mkhitaryan finds Aubaeyang, he steps inside and from the edge of the box he drills a slot low, towards the near post, and Koubek dives to stop it.
Arsenal have a few moments of pressure but Rennes just about clear their lines. The game is getting a wee bit heated now after Andre shoved Torreira relatively fairly to the ground.
Mustafi is limping off slowly to get some more treatment. Grenier stands over the ball, and from 35 yards out he strikes the ball sweetly and it goes only a yard or so over the crossbar.
He boshed into Mustafi about 35 yards from goal, and now the German has gone down with what looks like a problem wth his right shin or knee.
Ben Arfa has thrown himself to the ground, holding his head.
Aubameyang is tackled but wins a throw on the left, upsetting the home crowd.
Ben Arfa concedes the ball on the right after playing it inside, but Rennes have it back quickly. Bourigeaud overhits a pass for Grenier down the left.
Aubameyang concedes a foul high up on the right hand side of the pitch to give Rennes a chance to clear.
Back with Arsenal's defence now.

GOAL! Rennes 0-1 Arsenal. Iwobi scores - Iwobi collects the ball on the left, he cuts into the box past his marker, and he tries to pick out Aubameyang with a cross into the six yard box, and instead he clips in a cross that curls into the net at the back post.
Now a spell on the ball for Arsenal who keep possession in midfield and defence.
Rennes dominate possession in the early stages.

Arsenal are taking few chances with what may ultimately become their best chance of qualifying for the Champions League next year. Mesut Ozil starts, as does Petr Cech in goal. But it's a pretty strong Arsenal XI otherwise.
Rennes have a couple of players who may be familiar to the handful of people reading who are not European Football Experts: Mbaye Niang and Hatem Ben Arfa, who both had their time in the Premier League.
