This Real Madrid team have shown great resilience again! They scored two late goals, one at the end of regulation time and then another at the end of extra-time. That's a great quality to have. They didn't play at their best and were minutes away from losing, but it's another European trophy for Real Madrid.

FULL-TIME AFTER EXTRA TIME: Real Madrid 3-2 Sevilla. Real Madrid have won the European Super Cup!
- GoalDani CarvajalReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 3 (120 mins - Dani Carvajal) Sevilla 2. A goal fit to win any match! Carvajal runs and runs and runs, gets his way into the box and finishes past Rico with the outside of his right boot. Wooft!
This time it's Casemiro who has the shot on goal, hitting the target from distance, but Rico saw it all the way and was on hand to make the simple diving save. Not enough power.
Lucas has been an outlet for Real Madrid all night on the right wing. This time his crosses is blocked and cleared by the first man, but Sevilla need to get closer to him.
Of course, if there is no goal in the next few minutes we will be heading to a penalty shootout. Which is what we should have gone straight to at the end of 90 minutes. Sigh.
Real Madrid are once again starting to crank up the pressure here. They are created chances in front of goal now, which is something they weren't doing for much of the match.
GREAT EFFORT BY JAMES! Lucas digs out a good cross from the right side, with James reading the flight of the delivery. But his volley is saved low down by Rico. Great shot, great save.
Benzema is starting to have an influence in the final third now. This time he flashes a header wide of the target, but the Real Madrid striker is beginning to give Sevilla problems.
Asensio will play the full game here and he deserves to. He has been the best player in white on the pitch this evening. He has been consistent throughout for Zidane's side.
LUCAS SHOULD HAVE SCORED! The Real Madrid youngster was clean through on goal, but his shot is saved by Rico and Rami clears before it can cross the line.
Real Madrid are actually having to chase the ball here, but they are quite happy to let Sevilla have possession. They have a man advantage and are happy to plug the gaps.
Pareja has had an excellent game for Sevilla. He has been the defensive rock at the heart of his team's backline. He has made countless blocks to deny Real Madrid.
BIG CHANCE FOR JAMES! Benzema clips the ball into the box for the Colombian to run on to, but Rico is very quick off his line to charge down the effort from close range.
However, you have to admire the way Sevilla are still trying to play with the ball at their feet, despite the fact that they are down to 10 men. They are sticking with their philosophy.
Real Madrid are now well on top. Sevilla are playing for penalties, sitting deep and knocking the ball amongst themselves. They're not showing much in the way of attacking intent.
The second half of extra-time is under way in Trondheim! It's still 2-2 between Real Madrid and Sevilla.
HALF-TIME IN EXTRA-TIME: Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla
Replays show that Ramos wasnt' offside. So maybe the referee gave it for a handball? It's not really clear what that freekick was given for. Real Madrid are still protesting it.
IT'S BEEN RULED OUT! The goal celebration music was playing and everything, but the referee has now spoken to his linesman and has decided to chalk off Ramo's goal.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 3 (101 mins - Sergio Ramos) Sevilla 2. There's his second of the night and his third of the game. Ramos heads home on the improvised diving header and celebrates with his teammates in the corner. Great goal!
The flow of the match is now heading in the direction of Real Madrid. They are the ones that are on top. Sevilla are having to dig deep at the back. They are on the defensive now.
Of course, Sevilla also have Spanish Super Copa games to play against Barcelona on Sunday and next week. Sampaoli really could have done without extra-time this evening.
MODRIC SHOOTS OVER! For the first time this evening, Rico gets his angles wrong and makes a poor punch to the edge of the box. But Modric can't keep his shot down.
Sevilla have now been reduced to 10 men! Kolodziejczak caught Lucas as they tackled the Real Madrid winger, and received a second yellow card. He will take an early (late?) bath.
- Red cardThimothée KolodziejczakSevilla FC
RED CARD! Timothee Kolodziejczak (Sevilla)
PAREJA MAKES THE BLOCK! Benzema, who looks lively in this extra-time period, takes the shot from about 18 yards out, but Pareja dives in to make the block to deny him.
Real Madrid already looked tired in the second half. Now they face another 30 minutes. Why do they need extra time in the Super Cup? Players are knackered at this stage of the season!
RICO IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THE SAVE! Benzema shows good feet to come inside and take the shot, but the Sevilla goalkeeper reads the effort and makes the diving save.
The first half of extra-time is under way! Real Madrid and Sevilla are tied at 2-2.
FULL-TIME: Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla
- GoalSergio RamosReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 2 (93 mins - Sergio Ramos) Sevilla 2. He has scored another stoppage time equaliser in a European final! Lucas stages the ball up and Ramos just has to head the ball home from a matter of yards out.
Once again, Sevilla look to have weathered the storm. Real Madrid have had spells of pressure and have created chances, but they haven't really mounted anything prolonged.
RICO MAKES A FLYING SAVE! A Real Madrid shot is deflected high into the air inside the box, with the ball spinning. But Rico comes flying off his line to make a superman punch away from danger.
Four minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the second half.
Real Madrid look tired. Their pre-season has been shorter than Sevilla's by 12 days and it's started to show in this second half. Sevilla don't look to be under much threat right now.
- Yellow cardMarco AsensioReal Madrid
YELLOW CARD: Marco Asensio (Real Madrid)
The introduction of both Benzema and Modric hasn't really had the desired effect for Real Madrid. The duo have looked off the pace, with Sevilla not having to do much to fend them off.
- Yellow cardDani CarvajalReal Madrid
YELLOW CARD: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid)
Real Madrid are starting to crank up the pressure. They are quickening their passing and are camped on the edge of the Sevilla penalty area. Can the team in red hold out?
He had to get there! Benzema was waiting for the cross to arrive into the penalty area, but Pareja did really well to make the headed clearance on the dive. That would have been a goal.
CARVAJAL HAS A SHOT AT GOAL! The right back burst into the Sevilla penalty area and looked up. There was nothing on so he shot at the near post, drawing the save from Rico.
One thing that I have noticed about Asensio is that he rarely gives the ball away. Possession sticks with him, and that's not something you can say of most young players.
Since coming on Modric hasn't really made much of an impression. The Croatian needs to get a grip of the centre of the pitch, spraying passes around for the Champions League winners.
This bodes well for Sevilla ahead of the new season. Under Sampaoli they look to be a more comfortable team in possession. They like to press very high up the pitch as well.
Real Madrid have allowed control of this match to slip since they scored the opener in sensational style through Asensio. They have been too passive and too conservative.
- OffVicente IborraSevilla FC
- OnMatías KranevitterSevilla FC
Sevilla sub: Vicente Iborra OFF, Matias Kranevitter ON.
Real Madrid sub: Mateo Kovacic OFF, James Rodriguez ON.
Konoplyanka has only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes and he has already found the net. Sevilla have controlled the contest but they haven't created much. Yet they are ahead.
- Goal by penaltyYevhen KonoplyankaSevilla FC
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 1 Sevilla 2 (72 mins - Yevhen Konoplyanka). What a cool penalty! Konoplyanka waited for the goalkeeper Casilla to make a move and calmly rolls the ball into the opposite corner. He hardly hit it!
PENALTY KICK TO SEVILLA! Vitolo is brought down inside the penalty area by Ramos and the referee points to the spot.
Vietto was rather disappointing for Sevilla this evening. He didn't have much to deal with, struggling to get himself involved, but perhaps Konoplyanka can bring another dimension.
Sevilla sub: Luciano Vietto OFF, Yevhen Konoplyanka ON.
Real Madrid sub: Isco OFF, Luka Modric ON.
RICO SAVES FROM RAMOS! The Real Madrid centre back rises highest from a corner kick to meet with his head, but Rico gets down well to make the simple save from the header.
FIRST CHANCE FOR BENZEMA! The Real Madrid striker gets on the end of a Lucas cross, but Mariano does just enough to put off the Frenchman and the ball goes behind for a corner.
Benzema didn't play for France at this summer's European Championships, but he still hasn't played much of a role in pre-season for Real Madrid through a minor hip injury.
On comes Benzema. He replaces Morata, who didn't really make the most of the opportunity he was given in the starting lineup. But he didn't have any credible service. Shame.
Real Madrid sub: Alvaro Morata OFF, Karim Benzema ON.
Ramos is still the main man for Real Madrid at the back. He's still the one who takes command when the tough gets going. He's the one who sticks his head in sore places.
Sevilla are now looking to play a little more of a direct style, and it seems to be giving Real Madrid problems. Sampaoli's side are on top of the moment as they search for a winner.
Asensio is still the standout performer for Real Madrid in this second half. He has made a real impression. Could he force his way into the lineup when Bale and Ronaldo return? Probably still unlikely.
ISCO SHOOTS WIDE! The Real Madrid playmaker creates some space for himself on the edge of the penalty area, but he flashes his shot wide of the near post. That was a close one.
GOOD CLEARANCE! Lucas burst down the right side and looked to find the run of Morata inside the penalty area, buy Pareja was on hand to clear with a smart little backheel.
There is still speculation that Morata could actually make the move to the Premier League this summer, despite only just re-joining Real Madrid. Aresnal are thought to be interested.
After a bright start, Morata has struggled to get himself involved in the game. He has done plenty of chasing, but hasn't seen much of the ball. Tough shift for the striker.
It's interesting that Bale isn't with this Real Madrid team in Norway. The Welsh winger has been in training for the past few days, but Zidane has decided not to play him tonight.
Has Carrico picked up some sort of injury? The midfielder has been impressive for Sevilla this evening, but now he has been replaced by Rami, a central defender. Strange one.
Sevilla sub: Daniel Carrico OFF, Adil Rami ON.
Having said that, it's a little peculiar that Sevilla haven't been able to create more in the final third. They have had plenty of the ball, but their moves are breaking down in attack.
Vietto is toiling to get in the game for Sevilla up front. He had just nine touches of the ball in total in the first half. He hasn't really had the service, though. Not all his fault.
This match has had the feeling of a pre-season friendly so far. These games are often hotly contested, but that hasn't been the case here. Real Madrid and Sevilla are feeling this game out.
No changes by either side at the half-time break. Real Madrid probably had more of the opportunities in front of goal, but it was Sevilla who had the majority of possession.
The second half is under way in Trondheim! It's 1-1 between Real Madrid and Sevilla in the European Super Cup.
What did you make of the first half in Trondheim? Are Sevilla somewhat fortunate to be on level terms at the break? Are Real Madrid missing the likes of Bale and Ronaldo? Tweet me!
HALF-TIME: Real Madrid 1-1 Sevilla. An interesting half of football comes to a close in Norway. Asensio's goal was certainly the highlight, but Sevilla have done well to work their way back into the contest.
ISCO HEADER ON GOAL! Lucas does really well to beat his man and get to the byline before crossing into the box. Isco gets in front of his marker, but his header is straight at Rico.
- GoalFranco VazquezSevilla FC
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 1 Sevilla 1 (43 mins - Franco Vazquez). Out of nothing Sevilla have an equaliser in Trondheim! The cross was brought down by Vitolo, but the finish was applied by Vazquez. He found the bottom corner.
- Yellow cardVitoloSevilla FC
YELLOW CARD: Vitolo (Sevilla)
While this has been an interesting enough contest, marked by a stunning goal., the intensity that you usually associate with the Super Cup match has been missing so far.
This has been a very disciplined performance from Real Madrid so far. They aren't sending their full-backs forward on the attack like they were earlier in the game.
Can Sevilla find an equaliser before the break? They have seen plenty of the ball, but they haven't really made any kind of impression in the final third. Real Madrid are repelling them.
At the moment it looks like Real Madrid are actually playing on the counter attack. But they are doing a good job of that. Lucas and Asensio look especially dangerous for Los Blancos.
The rain is falling quite heavily in Norway now. That's making the playing surface quite slick. This will test the passing abilities of both teams. Could make things quite interesting.
Asensio has been brilliant throughout for Real Madrid so far. Maybe this is why Zidane and Florentino Perez were so willing to let Jese Rodriguez join Paris Saint-Germain this week.
Real Madrid are having to do a bit of defending here. Sevilla are the ones controlling the ball at the moment, pushing the Champions League winners deep into their own half.
GREAT EFFORT BY CARRICO! The Sevilla midfielder picked up the ball about 25 yards out and lashed a low shot towards the Real Madrid goal. But Casilla did well to make the save.
Sevilla are having a good spell of pressure at the moment. They have reacted well to falling behind. They are speeding up their passing, although Real Madrid are coping with it.
Sevilla have actually had the majority of possession in this game, which surprises me slightly, but there is no doubt that Real Madrid have been a lot more conservative tonight than they normally are.
SKIED OVER THE BAR! Vietto did really well to burst to the byline and cut back a cross to the back post for the run of Mariano, but the right back ballooned his shot over the bar.
The crowd in Trondheim have been rather quiet so far, but they greeted that Asensio goal in the manner it deserved. That is an early contender for goal of the season, it was that good!
Zidane seems more intent on promoting youth from within Real Madrid's ranks and that is why. There is talent at this club, but they haven't made the most of it in recent years.
Asensio has enjoyed an excellent pre-season, and that's why he is starting this game. He vindicated his selection with that strike. Rico in the Sevilla goal stood no chance at all!
- GoalMarco AsensioReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 1 (22 mins - Marco Asensio) Sevilla 0. Stunning goal! Asensio has scored a wonderful goal on his debut. He picked up the ball 25 yards out and smashed it into the top corner. Superb technique!
Sevilla have settled into this game, they look more comfortable on the ball, but they aren't making much progress in the final third. Real Madrid are holding them at arm's length.
Lucas also became an important figure for Real Madrid under Zidane last season. He was promoted from the B team and made a real impression in the senior side. Can he keep that up?
CLOSE TO A CONNECTION! Isco played a really dangerous low ball into the box for Lucas to latch on to, but the youngster couldn't quite stretch far enough and the chance was gone.
However, Ronaldo is still struggling with the knee injury he picked up in the final of the European Championships last month. It could be some time before he is back in action.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale aren't here due to their involevement in the European Championships. It's the same for Toni Kroos and Pepe as well. All still on holiday.
There are still rumours that Isco could be on his way out of Real Madrid this summer, but when you see him playing like this you can't believe that would be the case. He's excellent.
It's also interesting to see Casemiro in the Real Madrid starting lineup for this evening's game. He became a key figure under Zidane last season. Will he keep his place for this term?
The tempo from Real Madrid has been good to start this match. They are the ones probing in the final third with the ball at their feet. Isco is involving himself in everything!
Carvajal has started brightly down the right side. The Spanish international performs a nice little nutmeg, but he slips and the cross goes out for a goal kick. He looks lively, though.
Kiko Casilla is starting in goal for Real Madrid this evening. That's because Keylor Navas is still struggling through injury. The Costa Rican still isn't back to full fitness.
Real Madrid are the team on top at the moment. There are a lot of crosses being played into the Sevilla penalty area, but the side in red are holding off the Champions League winners.
RAMOS HEADER! The corner kick comes curling into the Sevilla penalty area, with Ramos climbing highest at the back post. He wins the header, but Mariano deflects it over the target.
It's only a matter of minutes into his first game in charge, but you can already see Sampaoli's influence on this side. They are pressing high, looking to win the ball high up the field.
As for Sevilla, they are making their third successive appearance in the European Super Cup game. They are the ultimate cup team and they are looking to continue that under Sampaoli.
There is a sense that Isco is set to be given more of a prominent role in this Real Madrid team this season. The playmaker was on the fringes last term, but he has already started brightly.
This should be an interesting contest. Real Madrid won the Champions League last season, but you couldn't really say that this is one of the club's vintage teams. Strange situation.
The match is under way in Norway! It's Real Madrid against Sevilla in the European Super Cup.
As for Sevilla, they have a new manager following the exit of Unai Emery to PSG. They now have Jorge Sampaoli in the dug-out. He enjoyed great success with Chile. Good appointment, if you ask me.
The big team news for Real Madrid is that Alvaro Morata is in the starting lineup. Lucas Vazquez is also in the team for the reigning Champions League champions. Interesting.
TEAM NEWS: Real Madrid - Casilla, Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo, Casemiro, Kovacic, Isco, Asensio, Lucas, Morata. /// Sevilla - Rico, Mariano, Pareja, Carrico, Escudero, Kolo, Iborra, N'Zonzi, Vitolo, Kiyotake, Vietto.
