ex-CONMEBOL executive Osuna fined $1 mln and banned for bribery

LONDON, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Former South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) treasurer and executive committee member Romer Osuna has been banned for life and fined one million Swiss francs ($1 million) for bribery, the world soccer body FIFA said on Thursday.

FIFA said the proceedings against the Bolivian referred in particular to his role in awarding contracts to companies for the media and marketing rights to CONMEBOL competitions between 2012 and 2015.
Osuna was CONMEBOL treasurer for 27 years and was indicted in the United States in 2015 for alleged involvement in bribery schemes totalling as much as $200 million.
He also served as a member of the FIFA audit and compliance panel.
