‘Excessive and ridiculous. It is persecution’ – Ronaldo hits back after ban upheld

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media to hit out after his five-match ban for shoving an official was upheld.

The 32-year-old shoved referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea when he was dismissed for diving in Madrid's 3-1 win over Barcelona on Sunday.
He will now miss Wednesday's second leg as well as the first four La Liga games of the season, and the Portugal forward took to Instagram to vent his frustrations.
“Nothing to do against this situation, five games! It’s excessive and ridiculous,” read the post.
This is persecution.
Thanks to my team mates and fans for the support.
Ronaldo will miss Wednesday's Super Cup second leg at the Bernabeu and the Liga games against Deportivo la Coruna, Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.
