FIFA confirms congress, presidential election for February

The election will take place during an extraordinary FIFA Congress in Zurich, which will also vote on key reforms to soccer's scandal-plagued governing body.

There was also an announcement that the executive committee had agreed to more transparency in ethics proceedings - with article 36 of the organisations Code of Ethics to be amended as a result.

At the moment, the first part of article 36 states "the members of the Ethics Committee and the members of the secretariats shall ensure that everything disclosed to them during the course of their duty remains confidential ... only the final decisions already notified to the addressees may be made public."
