Bayern Munich have won the race to sign Aaron Ramsey, according to reports.

Ramsey appeared resigned to leaving the Emirates after 11 years when revealing talks over a new contract with the Gunners had broken down, sparking a race for his signature across Europe.

Liverpool and Chelsea have both expressed an interest in signing the midfielder, but a move abroad appears his preferred option and Bayern have the advantage of being able to sign a pre-contract agreement in January.

Ramsey is expected to move to the Allianz Arena on a free transfer and sign a long-term deal with Bayern.

The German champions have acted swiftly to secure the services of players whose contracts are running down in the past, most recently tempting Leon Goretzka away from Schalke this time last year in a similar deal.

The signing of Ramsey would be a major coup for Niko Kovac, who has struggled since taking over from Jupp Heynckes at the club.

News of the 27-year-old's pending arrival would rejuvenate a side that is currently seven points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, the Cardiff academy product has continued to be used by Arsenal head coach Unai Emery - albeit largely as a substitute in recent weeks.

Ramsey, who has scored once in 16 appearances in all competitions, has won three FA Cups during his time with the North London club.
