The embattled goalkeeper, on a two-year loan at the Turkish club from Liverpool, has filed a complaint with FIFA stating he is owed four months’ wages.
German publication Bild report that Karius gave Besiktas 10 days to pay him, but the deadline has passed without settlement.
Karius’ nightmare spell in Turkey sunk to new lows at the weekend as his own fans jeered a mistake, while manager Senol Gunes slammed him publically.
"Karius has gone a bit stagnant, something is wrong with his electricity, motivation, enthusiasm for the game," said Gunes.
"It has been like that since the beginning. He does not really feel a part of the team."
The 25-year-old is trapped in an awful downwards spiral, which was sparked by a disastrous performance in last season’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
