Manchester United could sign Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ben Godfrey and Kalidou Koulibaly, while Arsenal are interested in Walter Kannemann.

United in for Hudson-Odoi

Manchester United are the newest side to be linked with Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. They join Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Liverpool in the chase for the 18-year-old England international, reports the Mail. His contract runs out in 2020, but matters are complicated by the impending transfer ban at his current club, but there has been no made on his contract talks.
Paper Round’s view: Simply put, Chelsea will have to sell if they do not get Hudson-Odoi to agree a new contract in the next few months, or they will judge that the £30 million they could raise is not worth the hassle - better to keep him throughout the transfer ban as they can't bring in any new players. Whether they would sell to an English club is open to speculation, because Chelsea would not want to strengthen their Premier League rivals.

Arsenal monitor Kannemann

Arsenal are interested in Argentina international Walter Kannemann. The 28-year-old central defender currently plays in Brazil for Gremio, and is attracting attention from across Europe, according to the Mirror. The player is a target for Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, and Unai Emery is keen to strengthen his defence, with Nicolas Tagliafico an option too. Arsenal also retain an interest in Manchester United’s Ander Herrera.
Paper Round’s view: Arsenal desperately need to improve upon Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny, and both the players mentioned above have experience of top-level football without necessarily being any better. Herrera is consistently linked with some of the best sides in Europe, and given he would cost nothing it is easy to see why many sides would bring him in to fill out their squad.

United scout Godfrey

Manchester United are a surprise destination for Norwich City central defender Ben Godfrey, claims the Sun. The 21-year-old player has impressed since breaking into the first team for the Championship side, and is doubly attractive as he counts as a home-grown player. He is rated at £10 million, and there are other Premier League sides also interested in the youngster.
Paper Round’s view: Apart from Victor Lindelof - who is yet to prove that he is consistently good enough - the rest of United’s options in central defence range from disappointing to desperate. Godfrey is only 21, but it is hard to imagine that he could be any worse than Phil Jones, Chris Smalling or Marcos Rojo. The chance to be coached by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could help him kick on to the England squad.

Koulibaly fee scares off Real and Barcelona

Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been priced out of a move to Real Madrid and Barcelona, according to the Express. The Italian club have put an asking price of £150 million on the head of the 27-year-old Senegalese international, which is too much for both Spanish sides. That leaves Ed Woodward at Manchester United with a clear run at the player, if they can afford him.
Paper Round’s view: Real Madrid are focussing their budget on improving their forward line, with regular reports of interest in both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, while Barcelona could use a central defender as a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique - but they often find their own finances stretched. £150 million is a ridiculous sum for almost any player, though, so it could be that Koulibaly remains at Napoli for at least another season.
