The 21-year-old moved to Liverpool from Charlton in a deal worth £3.5 million in the summer of 2015, and has since made 59 appearances for the club.
The centre-half’s new contract reportedly runs until 2024.
“Signing this new deal means the world to me,” Gomez told the club’s website.
“I’ve been at the club a few years now and have had the pleasure to play for Liverpool and experience what that means, so I am delighted to get the chance to extend my contract here.
“I love the club, I love playing and learning here, and I am happy for that to continue.”
Gomez is currently out injured having suffered a fractured leg in Liverpool’s match against Burnley following a challenge with Ben Mee on December 5.
The 21-year-old, who has formed a formidable defensive partnership with Virgil van Dijk, is expected to return to action in early January.
