SAVE! Mariano is found inside the penalty area but he can't find a way past Ulreich who makes a smart save to deny the Dominican forward.
Lahm concedes possession in a dangerous area and Mariano latches onto the loose ball but the youngster's shot is tame and straight at Ulreich.
Bayern have one minute of normal time plus three additional minutes to find an equaliser.
Ozturk's first touch is to send a cross into a crowded Real penalty area but the defence wins the aerial battle and the danger is gone.
BAYERN SUB! Thiago is replaced by Osturk for the remaining four minutes.
Conceding the opening goal has really sparked Bayern into life and Ancelotti's side are now pushing for an equaliser. Real are standing firm at the moment though.
Thiago has been Bayern's standout player and he's determined to have something to show for his efforts. He almost finds an equaliser but his powerful shot from 20 yards is just too high.
It's no more than Real deserve after an impressive second-half performance. The substitutes have had the desired effect and Danilo has certainly done his chances no harm with that sensational strike.
GOAAAAAAAALLL!! Real Madrid 1-0 Bayern Munich - It takes a special goal to finally break the deadlock as Danilo finds space in a central area and, on his weaker foot, slams it past Ulreich into the top corner!
And Zidane makes more changes for Real as Mariano, Tejero and Llorente take the place of Morata, Marcelo and Casemiro.
BAYERN SUB! Milos Pantovic replaces Martínez.
Vidal attempts to find the alert Green in behind the Real defence from a quickly taken free-kick but Marcelo is there to make a vital interception.
Rafinha is shown a yellow card.
The game has been played in a harmonious manner so it is surprising to see two players square up to each other as Rafinha and Morata have a slight disagreement over something.
This match is really crying out for a goal.
WIDE! Alaba is picked out at the back post and fires a shot at goal but it's never coming close to hitting the target.
Neither side have been able to find the breakthrough yet and, as it stands, the game will be decided on penalties. Yippeeee!
Ancelotti is surely planning some changes now for his Bayern side who have dropped the tempo significantly in the second period.
Real have made six changes compared to Bayern's single substitution but yet the Spanish side are well on top, despite the disruptions to the starting XI.
REAL SUBS! Lienhart, Odegaard and Danilo are on in place of Ramos, Isco and Carvajal.
Real are preparing at least three more changes now.
POST! Real should be ahead. Isco picks the ball up in space and fires a shot from distance, Ulreich is well beaten but the ball smashes against the woodwork and bounces clear.
Much better from Zinedine Zidane's side in the second period and Real look much more likely to score at the moment.
CHANCE! Morata squanders the best opportunity of the match as he screws the ball wide from inside the penalty area following good work from Marcelo. The Bayern defence are appealing for offside - it was certainly a close call.
PENALTY APPEAL! Real are appealing for a spot-kick and they may well have a case but the referee seemingly disagrees. Morata bursts down the left and appears to be fouled in the area but the official waves play on.
BAYERN SUB! Eighteen-year-old Fabian Benko replaces Alonso.
Bayern are preparing their first change of the match.
The Spanish giants have been much more comfortable in possession in the second period. Not much to get bums out of seats thus far, however.
That chance may spark Real into life after a poor first-half performance. Here's hoping.
WIDE! Real come close to breaking the deadlock through Vasquez whose first-time effort is just off target. The opportunity emerged from a lightning quick counter attack.
The opening five minutes of the second-half can only be described as scrappy as both sides struggle to keep possession. Surely not a game for the purists.
This is a huge season for Real Madrid's James but he didn't exactly set the world alight in the first-half.
We're underway in the second-half and Real have made three changes at the break. Nacho, Asensio and Kovacic replace Varane, James and Modric.
Bayern have had 53% of possession and five shots compared to Real's one. Dominance.
It is now actually as the referee brings the first-half to a close. Half-time.
Yet another cross from Rafinha is cleared but the danger isn't completely over for Real...
Of course, both sides are missing arguably their most influential players but still plenty of quality players on show.
More frustration for Real as Marcelo overhits a simple pass to his team mate James. A lack of match fitness on display for sure.
Carlo Ancelotti will be thoroughly pleased with his side's showing in the first-half but may be a little frustrated with the final ball.
Bayern have had five shots to Real's one so far.
Real only half clear their lines and Alaba is first to react to the loose ball and attempts to find Green with a cross but it's overhit and the La Liga side survive.
Alonso shows great commitment to win the ball from his former team in the centre of the park with a fantastic sliding tackle. Friendly... what friendly?
Bayern have been by far the better side, dominating the contest, but haven't been able to find a way through Real's rearguard.
Bernat is the first player to receive a yellow card for a studs up tackle on Carvajal.
SAVE! The Real goalkeeper is called into action once more as Thiago is allowed time and space to turn in a dangerous area before curling the ball at goal but Casilla is equal to the effort and parries it out for a corner.
It's the closest we've came so far to an opening goal...
Alonso's attempted cross is blocked and immediately Real produce a counter-attack with Modric picking out Morata with an inch-perfect pass. The Spanish forward is soon crowded out though and Bayern win the ball back.
Real Madrid are chasing shadows at the moment as Ancelotti's side continue to push for an opener.
On reflection the 21-year-old probably should have scored. But he's certainly looking bright.
SAVE! The ball sits up nicely for Green in the penalty area but the forward's low and powerful shot is saved by the feet of Casilla.
The German champions are upping the ante once more.
POST! It's a let off for Real as Alaba's delicious free-kick strikes the outside of the woodwork with Casilla rooted to the spot.
Rafinha is finding plenty of space in a wide area and his latest adventure from full back results in another half chance as his cross is cleared to Vidal who is fouled and wins a free-kick for Bayern.
Bayern are certainly dealing with Real Madrid's attacking threat better than Chelsea did, so far. The Blues were trailing by three goals at half-time as Marcelo grabbed an early brace. The full back has been relatively quiet on this occasion though.
OFFSIDE! Alaba picks out Green with a long ball over the defence but the American youngster makes his run far too early and he's caught out by the Real back line.
The supporters are enjoying the game, that's for sure. A Mexican Wave is in full flow. Every game in the USA has been so well attended and there are over 82,000 packed into the stadium this morning.
An intriguing contest certainly but no goals just yet and, in truth, few chances.
The European champions are beginning to impose themselves on the game now. They're getting the ball down but their most recent attack comes to an end when Modric plays a loose pass.
A neat move from Isco allows him to turn from his marker and his cross finds James but his header is never troubling Ulreich.
Alonso spots the run of Vidal who finds himself in behind the Real defence but the pass is played just too long and the ball rolls harmlessly to Casilla.
The Bundesliga champions are in complete control at the moment.
CLOSE! Alaba steps up... just wide! The free-kick bends around the wall but inches past the post. It was a decent effort from the Austrian.
The referee is forced to award Bayern a free-kick in a dangerous central area, from around 25 yards, after Ramos concedes a needless foul. Alaba to take.
Green is involved once more as he collects a low cross from Alaba in the penalty area but he's immediately surrounded by a number of Real defenders who deal with the danger.
Vidal picks out Rafinha in a wide position with a delicious pass and the full-back instantly targets Green but the Real defence stands firm to clear the danger. Green looks full of confidence in the early stages.
Martinez is alert to break up a dangerous Real attack at the other end.
Green is bundled over on the edge of the penalty area, it looks like an obvious foul but the referee waves play on.
There's a sense of urgency from Bayern in the early stages of the match. Ancelotti's side have impressed during the tournament with the highlight being a 4-1 victory over Inter.
Both teams are playing in their traditional colours on a lovely summer's day in New Jersey.
Kick-off is running a little late - as is commonplace in these kind of friendly matches. It'll all be worth the wait, I promise!
There's just a few minutes until kick-off so here's a reminder of the starting line-ups:
Bayern Munich: Ulreich, Thiago, Martínez, Rafinha, Alonso, Feldhahn, Bernat, Lahm, Vidal, Alaba, Green. /// Real Madrid: Casilla, Marcelo, Ramos, Varane, Carvajal, Casemiro, Modric, Isco James, Vázquez, Morata.
The MetLife Stadium holds over 82,000 people and is likely to be almost sold-out for a battle between two of the world's biggest clubs.
James Rodriguez, Isco, Lucas Vazquez and Alvaro Morata leads the attack for Real Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale still on holiday following their Euro 2016 exploits. Karim Benzema is struggling to shake off a hip problem. Marcelo, who scored twice in his side’s 3-2 victory over Chelsea, retains his place at full-back.
Julian Green spearheads Bayern’s attack this morning. The USA international, 21, delighted his manager Carlo Ancelotti with a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory over Inter last time out. Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso starts against his former club. A number of players are unavailable for the Bundesliga champions including Holger Badstuber, Arjen Robben, Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski.
The team news is in... Bayern Munich: Ulreich, Thiago, Martínez, Rafinha, Alonso, Feldhahn, Bernat, Lahm, Vidal, Alaba, Green. /// Real Madrid: Casilla, Marcelo, Ramos, Varane, Carvajal, Casemiro, Modric, Isco James, Vázquez, Morata.
