Goals from Wayne Rooney, Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard gave Manchester United an easy victory over Barcelona.
Manchester United took the lead in the first half through an Ashley Young corner. His cross was met by a stooping, unmarked Rooney, whose header left Marc-Andre Ter Stegen static.

Barcelona had chances, and Luis Suarez twice hit the post. His first effort came when the scores were level, a free kick that left David de Gea stranded, just like his second attempt, another from outside the box that hit the opposite post.
In the second half, Memphis Depay went close with a solo run into the box, bringing a save from Jordi Masip, and Ivan Rakitic sent a free kick just over the bar. United made it two when Lingard tapped in at the back post following an entire change in Louis van Gaal's line up.
Munir then hit the woodwork, the third time for Barcelona, and two excellent goals, one for Rafinha and then for Januzaj, gave a frantic finish to an enjoyable game.
KEY EVENTS
4'- SUAREZ FREE KICK - Suarez takes an almost brilliant free kick, curling it around the wall, and it crashes low against the post, with De Gea static.
6' - ROBERTO SHOT - Save from De Gea. Roberto runs from Shaw and Blind on the inside left, but De Gea blocks the shot from close range.
7' - GOAL! Manchester United 1-0 Barcelona. Rooney scores - United win a corner on the left wing. Young takes it, swings it into the middle of the box to find a stooping, unmarked Rooney who heads past Ter Stegen.
27' - TER STEGEN SAVE - Mata does brilliantly to keep the ball on the right, swings a ball out left for Young, who fizzes a shot straight at Ter Stegen, which he flicks over the bar.
42' - SUAREZ SHOT - Suarez receives a pass outside the box. He turns away from two markers, swivels, and crashes a shot against the post.
51' - DEPAY SHOT - Depay drives into the box, holding his marker off him. Just off the six yard box, he spins back towards the goal and fires in a low shot saved by Masip.
58' - RAKITIC FREE KICK - Rakitic sends his shot over the wall, but it's just over and behind for a goal kick.
65' - GOAL! Manchester United 2-0 Barcelona. Lingard scores - Wilson lays it off to Blackett, who pulls the ball back to Jesse Lingard, who taps in at the back post.
67' - JANUZAJ MISS - The ball is over the top, diagonally aimed for Januzaj, and he fires in a low shot just wide of the goal.
90' - GOAL! Manchester United 2-1 Barcelona. Rafinha scores - he picks up a volley just outside the box and volleys in brilliantly, showing excellent technique.
90+1' - GOAL! Manchester United 3-1 Barcelona. Januzaj scores - A pass high up the pitch finds Januzaj, who cuts onto his left in the box, and rifles a shot inside the far post.
TALKING POINT
Michael Carrick needs to recover from his injury soon, or he will risk his place. The contrast between Carrick and Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin was stark. The other players moved directly and at speed, while he was playing at last season's pace. He can be an excellent player, but he will need to rediscover his best form with a restocked midfield to compete with.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Ashley Young (Manchester United): Luis Suarez impressed, as did Memphis Depay and others, but Young was once again surprisingly the best player on the pitch. His application despite limited talents has given him the chance to do simple things well, and often, now his team-mates know they can trust him with the ball.
