Celtic skipper Scott Brown had a dig at former Rangers striker Filip Sebo after thundering in a 30-yard drive in the 5-0 William Hill Scottish Cup last-16 win over St Johnstone.
Winger Scott Sinclair opened the scoring from a tight angle in the third minute before midfielder Brown sent a right-footed shot high past the flailing arm of Saints goalkeeper Zander Clark for his first goal in two years.
Sinclair completed his hat-trick and James Forrest also got on the scoresheet as the holders booked their place in the quarter-finals.
Brown made reference to Gers flop Sebo, the former Slovakia striker who scored only two goals for the Light Blues between 2006 and 2007 and who is occasionally mocked by the Parkhead fans, when told that the crowd had urged him to shoot.
He said: “I don’t think they (crowd) actually want me to shoot most of the time.
“I usually get the shout of ‘Sebo’ two seconds after I shoot.
“It’s one of those that I’ll probably hit one time out of a hundred that sweet and it goes in the top corner.
“The main thing though was getting into the next round, it was a good, proper performance.”
Brown lavished praise on 21-year-old forward Oliver Burke, on loan from West Brom, who used his pace and power to great effect when assisting two of the five goals.
He said: “Ollie is by far the quickest I’ve played with.
“He knows nine times out of 10 he’s going to beat people for pace and Scotty was in the right place as well.
“People won’t keep a high line because of his pace.
“With our forwards, we have pace everywhere in Ollie, Scotty, James and Timothy (Weah).
“We have pace all over the park and it scares people more than anything.
“If people want to press the game we have that long pass in behind that Ollie, Timo, James and Scotty can take up and run through on goal.”
