GOAL! Azpilicueta bags the winning penalty. Chelsea win the shootout 5-4. It's a well deserved victory for the Blues. With the exception of their wobbly opening to the second-period, they were the better side overall.

A cool and calm penalty by Karamoh. 4-4.

Abraham converts. 4-3 Chelsea.

SAVED! Caballero guesses the right way to save Skriniar's effort with his legs. It's still 3-3.

Moses, as confident as you like, strokes the ball into the bottom corner. 3-3.

Another good penalty, this time Martinez shoots straight down the middle. 3-2 to Inter.

Drinkwater with a lovely spot-kick scores. 2-2.

Great penalty from Gagliardini who finds the top corner. 2-1 Inter.

Jorginho with an inventive effort, scores. 1-1.

Ranocchia scores and it's 1-0 Inter.

And it's off to a penalty shootout.

Caballero does well to turn away Martinez's powerful shot! And that is surely the last chance. A penalty shootout looms.

TWO minutes will be added on and if a winner isn't found then we will have a penalty shootout.

Christensen, who has just returned to action after his World Cup adventure, seems to have hurt his knee. But he's back on the pitch after some minor treatment.

Emerson drives down the flank and drills a low cross across the face of goal but somehow Abraham misses from three or four yards!

And that is Hudson-Odoi's last contribution, he is replaced by Lucas Piazon for the final five minutes of normal time.

Both sides have had - and spurned - opportunities in this second-half but it looks like the game will be decided by a penalty shootout.

Yet another moment of magic from the 17-year-old Hudson-Odoi as he skips away from his marker into space and tees up Jorginho for a shot. His curled effort is destined for the top corner but Handanovic does remarkably well to make a finger-tip save.

Both sides are still intent on winning this game in order to avoid the penalty shoot-out. Inter win a corner and Chelsea can only clear as far as Karamoh who slices his first-time effort miles wide.

A couple of stepovers from the frighteningly quick Hudson-Odoi leaves his marker for dead. He lifts a cross to the back post and Inter clear the danger behind for another corner. The 17-year-old has been extremely impressive.

Azpilicueta shows great awareness to intercept a clever through-pass intended for Martinez, but is forced to concede a corner. Caballero punches clear the corner delivery.

Drinkwater catches a sight of goal and opens his body up to fire a venomous shot from 30 yards out. Handanovic is fully stretched and is relieved to see the ball drift wide.

The pace of the match has slowed somewhat.

Abraham is straight into the action. The Englishman takes a lovely touch to set himself up for a shot and his venomous effort is parried away from goal by Handanovic. Abraham is another player with a point to prove and he has produced Chelsea's best moment of the second-half.

CHELSEA SUBS! Here we go: Christensen, Moses, Emerson, Abraham, Rudiger come on. Morata, Pedro, Ampadu, Luiz and Alonso go off.

The set-piece comes to nothing and now Chelsea can make a number of substitutes... details in a moment.

Chelsea win a free-kick, which Luiz takes. He smashes it straight at the wall but it takes a deflection and the Blues have a corner.

Gagliardini registers another tame shot at Caballero and again the Chelsea goalkeeper spills it! It could go anywhere but fortunately for the Argentine he is able to collect on the second attempt. He looks extremely shaky and nervous.

Better from Pedro but still room for improvement. He dances past his marker on the flank but then proceeds in smashing his cross into an Inter defender.

The Blues' passing hasn't been as crisp, either. And it's summed up by Pedro's lacklustre through-pass to Morata. There's too much zip on it and Handanovic is off his line quickly to collect.

Chelsea win a corner but their dismal start to the second-half continues as Drinkwater's delivery is catching practice for Inter's goalkeeper.

Substitutions can often disrupt the flow and halt the momentum of friendlies, and that is certainly the case here. Chelsea were free-flowing and thoroughly impressive in the first-half; it's in great contrast to their sloppy opening in the second-period.

Chelsea have it all to do again after a dominant first-half display, but Inter look more comfortable at the moment.

Sarri will be fuming with Bakayoko whose first touch was to give the ball away. Caballero hasn't wrapped himself in glory, either. We are all level in Nice.

  • Roberto Gagliardini
GoalRoberto GagliardiniInternazionaleGOAAAALLLLL! Chelsea 1-1 Inter A comedy of errors from Chelsea's subs allows Inter back into the contest! Bakayoko mis-places a simple five-yard pass and Icardi picks up the ball, accelerates forward and feeds Gagliardini on the overlap. Caballero's positioning is completely wrong and he is easily beaten by Gagliardini's strike.

GOAAAALLLLL! Chelsea 1-1 Inter

A comedy of errors from Chelsea's subs allows Inter back into the contest! Bakayoko mis-places a simple five-yard pass and Icardi picks up the ball, accelerates forward and feeds Gagliardini on the overlap. Caballero's positioning is completely wrong and he is easily beaten by Gagliardini's strike.

Bulka, Rudiger and Fabregas went off at the break.

And we are underway in the second-period. Details of all the changes in a second but for now Inter have an early corner as Caballero spills Politano's weak effort.

Caballero, Bakayoko, Drinkwater and Azpilicueta are coming on for Chelsea at the break.

Chelsea have a well deserved lead at the interval, thanks to Pedro's 11th minute goal.

Inter string a number of intricate passes together to create a decent opportunity. And it's all set up for Icardi to shoot but instead he tries to find a team mate with a back-heeled pass. It's the wrong choice and Chelsea clear.

Sensing an opportunity to nick a goal, Morata presses Handanovic but the Inter goalkeeper, cool as you like, drops the shoulder and leaves the Chelsea forward on his backside.

Now we have an open contest on our hands! After seeing his team mate spurn a golden opportunity moments ago Candreva goes it alone. From an acute angle he drills the ball wide of goal. Bulka had it covered.

Alonso, on his weaker right foot, curls a shot wide from 30 yards out. He had the ambition to go for goal but his effort lacked conviction.

Dear me, what an opportunity for Inter but it goes begging! Candreva gets the better of Alonso, beating the Chelsea full-back for pace, before cutting the ball into the centre for Politano. The Inter forward has all the time and space in the world but unforgivably blasts it wide of the target.

Ten minutes until half-time and Chelsea hold a comfortable lead, courtesy of birthday boy Pedro's eighth minute strike - his second goal in two pre-season games.

Chelsea can only partially clear the corner delivery, to Candreva on the right. He tries a first-time effort but can't keep his effort down. It ends up in row-Z.

Slowly but surely, Inter are finally settling into this contest and they win their first corner of the evening - a chance to test Chelsea's defence.

David Luiz mis-places a pass with Hudson-Odoi the intended target and clearly furious with the mistake, the 17-year-old lets his veteran team-mate know his feelings!

Chelsea's wonderkid Hudson-Odoi exchanges passes with Morata and runs into the penalty area but shooting straight at Handanovic.

Play resumes and Sarri will be hoping for more of the same from his Chelsea players. If anything, he may be disappointed the Blues haven't extended their lead such is their dominance.

It's time for a water break! Friendlies, eh?

Well, how is that not a free-kick? Škriniar goes through the back of Morata to win the ball, which he does, and the referee allows play to continue and Inter break, though it comes to nothing.

Barkley skips away into space, spots Morata in space and tries the diagonal ball. But he gets it all wrong and his effort is easily intercepted. The former Everton midfielder needs to impress this pre-season or face another year on the bench.

Oooooh, Inter go mightily close to levelling the scores. Candreva lashes the ball from 25 yards and sensing an opportunity to deflect the ball goalwards, Icardi throws himself into the path of the shot but the ball agonisingly evades him and drifts wide of goal. All it needed was a touch

The space opens up for Morata as he drives forward in a central position. Unselfishly, he passes it wide to Pedro who tries to return the favour, but his return ball is slightly behind the Spaniard and Inter clear.

Morata's wait for a goal continues.

Inter have been incredibly sloppy in defence. Constantly conceding possession amongst their back-line, the Italians look nervous and vulnerable.

Marcos Alonso loves a free-kick. He steps up confidently and lifts it over the wall but it doesn't come down quickly enough to trouble Handanvoic.

Chelsea are purring now and here they come once again, Pedro leading the charge. He's bowled over by Skriniar on the edge of their penalty area and the Blues have a free-kick in dangerous territory.

Well, that had been coming. Chelsea look like a side determined to prove a point to their new manager.

  • Pedro
GoalPedroChelseaGOAAAAALLLLL! Chelsea 1-0 Inter It's the birthday boy Pedro who grabs the goal but it's beautifully crafted by Morata! The Spain international shows a gritty determination as he shrugs D'Ambrosio off the ball at the by-line and twists and turns to fire a shot away. It's saved by Handanovic but only into the path of Pedro who taps it home.

It's saved by Handanovic but only into the path of Pedro who taps it home.

Inter have been slow out of the blocks but finally they create their first half-chance of the evening, as the ball falls kindly to Gagliardini but his powerful effort is bravely blocked by a Chelsea defender.

Chelsea's spell of pressure ends with a much-needed goal for Morata, but it won't count! He picks up a space between two defenders to meet Fabregas' cross and glances a header past Handanovic but he was marginally offside.

Pedro, playing on his 31st birthday, is fed on the left-hand side of the penalty area but runs into trouble. Chelsea have made an excellent start.

Inter create a problem of their own making and Chelsea almost punish them. Morata steals possession in Inter's half, cuts it back to Barkley who rifles a venomous low shot at goal. Handanovic makes the stop with his feet and Fabregas scuffs the rebound out of play.

Chelsea, in yellow, get us underway!

Willy Caballero, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses are amongst those on the bench for Chelsea.

The players are making their way out onto the pitch on a fine, warm evening in the south of France. Kick-off is just moments away!

Jorginho was Sarri's first signing, a player he knows extremely well having played under him for three years.

"He is someone who does wonderful work, he is right on top of everything that is happening on the pitch," said the former Napoli player.

Jorginho is one of two signings this summer. The other is, er, Rob Green.

Here is how Inter are lining out this evening...

Handanovic, D'Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar, Dalbert, Gagliardini, Emmers, Candreva, Politano, Asamoah, Icardi.

It will be interesting to see how Sarri will do at Chelsea in the Premier League. The Italian transformed the fortunes of Napoli during his three-year stint at his hometown club, but expectations will be much higher at Stamford Bridge.

How will his team play? "We must start by having fun," Sarri said. "Which is important for us and our fans. I really hope the Chelsea fans will see entertaining football."

Inter are without a win in pre-season so far, drawing 3-3 with Zenit and 1-1 with, believe it or not, Sheffield United.

With many of Chelsea's World Cup stars still recuperating, Sarri is forced to name another experimental side. Hudson-Odoi keeps his starting place as reward for scoring the winning goal on Monday, while Cesc Fabregas captains the team. Alvaro Morata spearheads the attack while new signing Jorginho features in midfield.

Starting XI: Bulka; Zappacosta, David Luiz, Ampadu, Alonso; Jorginho, Fabregas, Barkley; Pedro, Hudson-Odoi, Morata.

Hello and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text commentary of Chelsea's International Champions Cup match with Inter in Nice, the Blues' second warm-up of the summer.

Mauricio Sarri watched his side claim a narrow 1-0 victory over Perth Glory last time out and will be hoping for more success this evening, but faces a much trickier contest.
